Four Porter-Cable 3 1/4 horsepower, electric, fixed-base production routers and one production router base are being recalled. The recalled routers are about 11 inches tall and 7 inches wide. The top of the router motor is black plastic and has the on/off switch for the router. The base is painted gray and has two side handles, an adjuster ring on the top and a clamp screw on the rear. The side handles on the base of recalled routers have no insulation. The Porter-Cable name and logo are on the front of the base. The recalled routers and base were manufactured from 1990 to April 2014.

They are plastic cubes about 1” to 1 ¼” on one side with two prongs for plugging into an electrical outlet and a USB port on the other. Recalled chargers come in five different colors: black, blue, green, red and white.

DESCRIPTION

This recall involves seven models of charging kits with universal serial bus (USB) connectors that are used to recharge Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod devices. The recalled kits were sold under the Ban.do, Jonathan Adler and Lilly Pulitzer brand names and contained a wall charger, a 12 to 24-volt car charger, a 30-pin USB cord and a Lightning port adapter. The wall chargers are plastic cubes about 1 ¼ inches long, 1 inch wide and ½ inch tall with two metal prongs for plugging into an electrical outlet on one end and a USB port on the opposite end. Ban.do wall chargers came in the colors yellow and black and white stripe. Jonathan Adler wall chargers came in multicolor and blue and white patterns. Lilly Pulitzer wall chargers came in multicolor floral patterns.

The wall charger can overheat and emit smoke and sparks, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. The prongs on the charger can detach and remain in the electrical outlet, posing a risk of electrical shock.

INCIDENTS/INJURIES

Lifeguard Press has received six reports of the wall chargers emitting smoke and sparking and six reports of prongs detaching from the plug. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the USB wall charger and contact Lifeguard Press to return the charging kit for a full refund.

This recall includes Sony’s VAIO Flip PC laptops with model number (product name) SVF11N13CXS. The computers were sold in three colors silver, black and pink. They have a Panasonic-manufactured lithium-ion battery and a folding touch screen that measures about 11.6 inches diagonally and a backlit keyboard. The VAIO logo is etched on the outer top of the computer, near the hinge. The model and serial numbers are printed on a black label with white lettering on the underside of the screen. To locate the label, consumers should open the computer, move the switch from the lock to the release position and flip the display.

HAZARD:

The computers’ lithium-ion batteries can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.

INCIDENTS/INJURIES

Sony is aware of four incidents, which occurred in Asia, of computers overheating, resulting in units smoking, catching on fire and melting. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled personal computers, shut it down and unplug it; and contact Sony for instructions on how to arrange for an inspection free of charge to the consumer and a free repair or full refund of the computer’s purchase price.

The pins of the built-in plug do not have an insulating collar; when inserting the plug the user may touch the live pins. The black cover for the LEDs can be removed by hand during charging leaving live parts accessible. The cross section area of the core of the wires is less than required; in case of short circuit the wires may overheat and can cause a fire. The PAR30 bulbs measure about 4.75 inches long and 3.75 inches wide. The PAR38 bulbs measure about 4.75 inches long and 4.75 inches wide.

Model number MT-664UC-SO is marked on the back of the knife. The knife fits into an unmarked molded black sheath that is about 4.5 inches in length. The sheath has a snap clip on the back and also comes with a beaded lanyard chain. Replacement sheaths have “MTech USA” laser printed on the back.

This recall involves All Power brand single stage snow throwers. The snow throwers are black and yellow and have a red cap on the gas tank. They have a 20 inch wide snow clearing width and an 87cc, 4 cycle engine. The model number of the recalled snow throwers is SB044P which is printed on a yellow and black sticker located on the top of the unit with the phrase “20 Inch Clearing Width.”

HAZARD:

Exposure to Chinese gasoline for extended periods of time while testing the product overseas caused the carburetor needle to become corroded and allow fuel to leak, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

The company has received 58 reports of carburetor leaks. No fires or injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using their snow thrower and contact All-Power to obtain a free repair.
