PRODUCT SHOWCASEBLASTING EQUIPMENT & MACHINERY CONVEYOR BLAST MACHINE Guyson Corp. now offers its ModelTR-900 through-belt conveyorblast systems with an oscillator toprovide reciprocating motion of theblast guns. Users can reduce thenumber of nozzles required for uni-

form coverage and lower the blast-ing machine’s compressed airrequirements.

In the pass-through TR-900 finish-ing system, components are con-veyed in and out of the blast cham-ber by a rubber or steel mesh belt, which may be fitted with guide railsto ensure the parts are properlyaligned for single or multiple lanemedia-blast treatment. The belt canalso be made with cleats or part-holding fixtures attached to orientthe components. Conveyor beltspeed is adjustable from zero toapproximately 20 feet per minute. The stroke length and speed of thegear motor-driven oscillation mecha-nism can be adjusted and synchro-nized with the belt feed rate.

Up to 14 blast guns are rigidlymounted on multi-adjustable brack-ets at the correct angles and dis-tances to direct their blast streamonto targeted component surfaces. After impinging on the processedparts, blast media particles are col-lected in a hopper at the base of the

finishing enclosure, fed into returnducts and pneumatically conveyedto the inlet of the system’s cycloneseparator and media reclaimer, where dust and fines are removedfrom circulation and effective-sizedmedia are channeled back to the

blasting guns. The track extensionson the in- and out-feed ends of themachine are fitted with vacuumreturn catch trays to reclaim mediacarried out of the blast chamber.

The TR-900 conveyor blast sys-tem may be used with a wide vari-ety of blast media, making it suit-able for many different in-lineimpact treatment applications, including deburring, deflashing, surface preparation and cosmeticfinishing. When components mustbe finished on all sides in a singlepass, the machine can be config-ured with an alternate routing ofthe conveyor belt to permit posi-tioning of fixed or oscillating blastguns under the component.

An energy-saving option for theTR-900 is the addition of an elec-tronic sensor to detect the presenceof components on the in-feed con-veyor and signal the programmablelogic controller (PLC) to activate theblast guns. When the feeding ofparts is interrupted, the blast gunscan be turned off automatically.

In addition, Guyson Corporationhas integrated a machine-tendingrobot to automatically load andunload its RXS-900 rotary spindleblast system in an unmanned blastfinishing work cell. The robotic blastmachine builder claims the compo-

nent-manipulating robot and auto-mated spindle-blast system are capa-ble of supporting a faster pace ofblast treatment and higher produc-tion volume than a human operatorcould handle.

Based on the size and weight ofthe components to be processed, the end-of-arm gripper tooling andthe range of motion required bythe tended machine and the layoutof the cell’s external material con-veying equipment—a FanucRobotics Model M-10iA robot withsix axes of motion was selected forthe application.

To enable 360-degree blasting ofboth the top and bottom aspects ofthe cylindrical components, customcomponent-holding fixtures weredesigned to positively locate andsecurely cradle the parts in eitherface-up or face-down orientation. Athree-jaw gripper was chosen for therobot end effector that could graspthe workpiece by the inside or out-side diameter of the part, and anauxiliary rotary actuator with a

pneumatic O.D. gripper was mount-ed on the front of the blast machine, acting as a precise, high-speed “flip-per” to invert the componentbetween finishing of the first andsecond sides.

The six rotary spindles of the RXS-900 are exactly located around theperimeter of its 42-inch diameterturntable, which is rotated betweenblast cycles in precise 60-degree stepsby a robust cam indexer that offerspositional accuracy of +/- 39 arc sec-onds. The blast system manufactureradvises that this level of indexingprecision is a critical requirement forrobot tended blasting machinery.

Finally, Guyson rolls out a rotarytable wheel-blast system with oneblast wheel over each half of a 4,000pound capacity, 70-inch diameterturntable. The MODEL GWB-702T,with this blastwheel configuration, isespecially suitable for batch process-ing of workpieces that are essentiallyflat or have limited vertical surfaces.

Each blast wheel is directly drivenat a speed of 3,000 RPM by a 10 HPmotor and is capable of throwingapproximately 220 pounds of metal-lic media per minute in an extendedblast pattern up to 36 inches long. The blast pattern of the individualblast wheels is adjustable, so thetwin wheels are aimed to providerapid and through coverage of com-ponents on the entire surface of theturntable.

The table of the wheel blastmachine is heavily armored with abra-sion-resistant cast iron alloy plates, and protective armor of the samematerial is hung on the interior ceil-ing and walls of the blast chamber tocover all areas directly in line with theblast wheels. The entire inside of theblasting enclosure is lined with thickrubber sheeting for abrasion protec-tion, which offers the side-benefit ofreduced sound levels during opera-tion of the blast machine.

MULTI-TUMBLING BATCH BLASTMACHINE Rosler is pleased to announce itsRMT multi-tumbling batch blastmachines. Using a special rotary bar-rel design, these durable units pro-duce excellent blast coverage results;compared to conventional tumblast

machines, they have no “pinchpoints” to damage even sensitiveparts.

The RMT also features a simpledesign with few moving parts, ensur-ing high up times and low mainte-nance costs. Easy automation withcustom-made loading and unload-ing equipment make integration intoexisting systems a breeze. Plus, withthe rotary barrel made of highlywear-resistant manganese steel, RMTmachines provide years of reliableservice.

Rosler’s RMT machines suit everycapacity requirement from 3–34 cu. ft.batch sizes and include a wide choiceof blast turbines from 15–75 hp.

Also from Rosler: the Z800 HAsemi-automatic centrifuges forprocess water treatment and recircu-lation in mass finishing and wetblasting applications. They are idealfor extracting water from slurriesand separating waste materials.Handling up to 300 gal/hr, theseenvironmentally friendly unitsreduce water and compound con-sumption by up to 80-95%.

Rosler Z800 HA compact designsare self-contained and come com-plete with electronic controls, including an easy-to-clean courseparticle screen. The sturdy, corro-sion-resistant collection and clearwater tanks are made from durablepolyethylene and are shipped to thecustomer pre-installed. Units can beeasily connected to multiple massfinishing machines, and arrive readyfor quick set-up and installation. TheZ800 HA can be fitted with an auto-matic compound and water make-upsystem. Optional Turbo-floc pack-ages assist with challenging applica-tions and help stabilize the processwater and optimize performance.

Finally, Rosler releases the JDMT2/1L BATCH TYPE DEFLASHINGMACHINE. Ideally suited for small tomedium thermoset plastic parts, theunit’s special barrel creates a multi-

tumbling part action, which pro-duces excellent blast coverage toremove flashing. Compared to tradi-tional industry designs, the JDMT2/1L’s unique barrel design elimi-nates pinching or parts loss. A vari-able-speed wheel delivers high vol-umes of deflash media, and the per-forated variable-speed barrel withpyramid creates superior tumblingaction for better overall coverage andreduced cycle times.
