• The WOI Series is a controller designed to wirelessly turn equipment on and off, open or close gates/doors, or provide notification to remote locations
• With both momentary and maintained contacts, the wireless operator interface (WOI) can be used by an operator to provide indication via a pushbutton or another user-chosen operator type (i.e. 22 mm rotary switch, 22 mm key switch, etc.)
• Communicates through Limitless™ receivers that provide PLC inputs or relay outputs connected directly to equipment to turn on LEDs or start/stop industrial equipment

Honeywell has expanded its Limitless™ portfolio with the new Wireless Operator Interface, WOI Series. The WOI Series is a controller designed to wirelessly turn equipment on and off, open or close gates/doors, or provide notification to remote locations. With both momentary and maintained contacts, the wireless operator interface (WOI) can be used by an operator to provide indication via a pushbutton or another user-chosen operator type (i.e. 22 mm rotary switch, 22 mm key switch, etc.). The WOI Series key features offer our customers value. Some of the features are competitive differentiators, noted here with a star. The first competitive advantage is that this switch adds a human interface device to the product-driven interfaces of Limitless™ switches and receivers that provide wireless control from both person and position. This human interface allows the operator to wirelessly turn equipment on/off, open/close, or provide notifications. Another competitive differentiator that this switch offers is remote monitoring. The WOI Series’ license-free RF wireless protocol standards (IEEE 802.15.4) allow for remote monitoring of processes and equipment. This product is especially beneficial for remote monitoring applications where wiring or wire maintenance is not physically possible or economically feasible. Designed for global availability, the WOI Series offers a wide variety of Limitless™ inputs with simple and universal PLC connections. This switch can potentially reduce costs by eliminating wires and associated connections, simplifying maintenance. This product may also reduce engineering design time, time to install, and overall project schedule. Additionally, combining greater flexibility with proven harsh-duty packaging can result in increased efficiencies and ease in establishing a remote operator.

We’ll now discuss additional features and benefits of the Limitless™ Wireless Operator Interface, WOI Series. This switch offers the flexibility for users to choose and install their desired operator type; i.e. 22 mm rotary switch, 22 mm key switch, etc. Another feature that this device offers is configurability with the ability to reconfigure and network multiple interfaces, or point-to-point with personalized addresses. This allows for adding, subtracting, or relocating Limitless™ inputs easily. The WOI Series offers an increase in uptime, eliminating lost production time from wiring integrity issues, especially with moving/flexing wires.

The WOI Series offers added versatility, providing a wide communication distance of 305 meters or 1,000 feet line of site. This allows this sensor to be used in a wide variety of applications and easily allows for system reconfiguration. This switch enables remote control and/or notification in remote parts of application/machinery/manufacturing plants, where wiring is too costly or not possible.
The Limitless™ Wireless Operator Interface may potentially be used in Industrial and Transportation applications. The switch can be used in rugged industrial environments to notify appropriate departments when there are quality, machine, material out-of-stock, or other manufacturing issues. Some examples of industrial applications include CNC action, conveyors, door/gate action, lifts, material handling, motor drives, presses, pumps, quality control buttons, specialty machines, stop/start in machinery or production, or valve action. This switch may also be potentially used in transportation applications such as agricultural equipment or movable machinery.
