23.10.12

In order for us to properly begin the assignment, we first had to read and sign the collaboration agreement.

For the next task, I had to research other idents and motion graphics, some examples of these are the BBC3 and E4 idents/EStings. We also had to create mood boards/mind maps exploring the possible ideas for out motion graphic and how they will relate/appeal to people around the college.

7.11.12

After we had come up with our mind maps, we pooled our ideas together and went through them deciding on a final idea to use, we decided on the creepy/eerie corridor idea.

Next we started to create our first draft of our story board by looking at all the ideas we had come across, we decided to create quite a creepy/eerie motion graphic.

After this we sat down and worked on our story board finalising it with the correct times, making sure it was only 30 seconds long and annotating what would happen within what scene etc.

Next we split up and started to create different assets to use, I created the corridor and the vector image of the handprint whilst other people created the doors and made the vector handprint 3D.

The first thing I modelled was the corridor where the scene would take place.

Next I created the vector image for the hand print, to do this I used illustrator too trace it using a template, this was important as the hand print plays an important role in the animation.

Now these assets have been created we have put them onto the forums through Moodle so we can use the assets we have each created to begin production of our animations.

First of all I added a roof to the corridor scene, surfaced it and saved.Next I added the door someone in my group had modelled to the scene.

Next I added the 3D hand print to the model and surfaced it, and then I began to place the handprints around the scene to look as though someone has placed them there.

Once the scene was set up correctly I loaded my objects and started to begun my ‘fly through’ of the scene.

Then I started to add textures to the objects I had imported, trying to find ones that would also the creepy genre of the project.

Once the objects had been textured and the animation was done I needed to adjust the lighting to try and get an appropriate brightness too emphasise the creepiness.

After I was happy with the animation it was time to export it, this took a while so I left it overnight, ready to add my final touches to it in premier the next day.

Once I had imported it into premier I added the sound bed to the video to see if it would fit, unfortunately it didn’t so I had to shorten and fade it out, I then added a fade in of the e6 logo at the end of the clip to emphasise what the animation was for.
