Production ProposalUnit 4\36 Gabriel CunninghamScattered Ghosts The Life and Work of Nick Barlay

Production NameThe Productions Name: Scattered Ghosts The Life and Work of Nick BarlayInterviewee: Author / Journalist - Nick BarlayDuration: The duration of this show will be Est. 15 - 45 minutes. I will be using this time to discuss Nicks career choices and how he got involved in journalism and being a writer.

SynopsisSynopsis: This interview will be looking into the concepts behind the novels written by author and journalist Nick Barlay. This type of program will be a biographical documentary based on the life of Nicks ancestors and distant relatives who have lived through the tragic years of difficulties during times of War, the Holocaust and Revolution. We will discuss these topics through the information gathered from his non-fiction Scattered Ghosts. And amongst other things we will discuss his career as a whole.

Target AudienceTarget Audience: The target audience for this show will be from the age of 22+ as the content of these novels may be too mature for a younger audience, they can also appeal to anyone with an interest in these topics. I feel as though the content of this interview may be too unrelated to a younger audience below the age of 20 seem to be the sort of age group which would have little interest in the history of a Jewish family. The psychographics show that this is for a resigned audience.

Purpose Of The InterviewThe Purpose of the Interview: The purpose of this interview is to learn how Nick started out his career as a journalist/ author and to understand the steps he took to reach his success. Learning this will hopefully inspire the viewers to chase after their aspirations in life. This documentary is informative and will be good use as publicity for his novels.

Factual ProgramsHow the entertainment will be part of the factual program: The interview I will conduct will fit in perfectly with the factual programs style as it falls under an art/literature theme. It explores the stories the writer Nick Barlay have written from his four novels to his non-fiction biography of his family traced back generations to explain the difficulties his Hungarian Jewish family over the course of 200 yearsthrough war, Holocaust and Revolution. All of this information is factual and relates to the required theme for the program.

Production RequirementsProduction Requirements (Crew and Facilities): I will need nicely presented, warm atmosphere/ facilities to conduct the interview. It will need appropriate lighting for the camera.I will need a recording device / Boom Operator.I will need a Camera Operator.Filming equipment: DSLR, Tripod, Reflectors.

Timescale and ScheduleTimescale / Schedule: During the first half of the first month of the production I will need to have organised all the pre-production work as well as all the necessary research about Nick Barlay so that I can generate some questions for the interview. The following half of the month will be used to film al the footage for the documentary as well as the key interviews with Nick Barlay. After completing the filming for the whole documentary I will need to edit the footage together which could take up a whole month and then finalise it so it can be aired on television.
