Module 1 - Anteriors - 29-30/9/16

DIRECT TECHNIQUE

•Basic principles of dental and gingival aesthetics •Color theory and terminology applied to Conservative Dentistry •Adhesion: concepts and basic knowledge for technique optimisation •Enamel-dentin bonding merchandise •New-generation composite resins merchandise •Problems regarding polymerisation techniques: how to contrast them and to reduce negative effects on the final quality of the restoration

•Isolation of operative field through rubber dam : instruments and application techniques (Clinical cases and video sessions)

•Direct restoration of anterior teeth: margin preparation, anatomic stratification through customised mask-matrix, streamlined finishing and polishing “ 3D” didactic videos Clinical cases and video demonstration

INDIRECT TECHNIQUE

• Materials and techniques for conservative indirect restorations • "Aesthetic veneers" technique: - Indications and contraindications - Aesthetic wax- and Mock-up - Rational choice for proper cavity design - Cavity preparation and rotary instruments - Final tooth impression - Provisional restoration - Rational choice for proper material - Chromatic test through try-in - Adhesive cementation - Finishing and polishing - “ 3D” video sessions - Clinical cases and video demonstration

Practical sessions - Hands-on

Every single technique will be demonstrated first by the lecturer

•Training on silicon models of the anatomical layering technique for anterior direct restorations according to Dr. Vanini’s technique

•Finishing and polishing of restorations •Realisation of cavity preparations for “veneer” on extracted teeth or resin

models • Every participant will realise by himself two composite veneers (window and

butt-joint preps) •Cementation and finishing procedures

Module 2 - Posteriors - 19-20/1/17

•The direct restoration of posterior teeth •Correct clinical indications • The philosophy of Minimally Invasive Dentistry •Cavity preparations for G.V Black Class1 and 2 •Simplified use of matrix in class 2 restoration •Simplified anatomical layering •Techniques and tools for optimal finishing and polishing • “3D”Educational Movies •Clinical Cases and movies • Cavity designs for indirect restorations: “inlay, onlay and overlay”

• Impression • Choice of material: composite resin or ceramic? • Adhesive cementation: which material to use? • Techniques and tools for a simplified finishing and polishing • Educational“3D”Movies • Clinical cases (photos and movies) • Analysis and comparison of the results in the literature • The post-endodontic adhesive restoration of the posterior teeth using indirect techniques

• Pre-reconstruction (block-out) of the access cavity • When and why to use a pin to support the“block-out” •An evidence based rational choice of the design of the cavity depending on the number and type of remaining walls

• Educational “3D” Movies •Clinical cases (photos and movies)

HANDS-ON

Every single technique will be demonstrated first by the lecturer

•Realisation of Class I and II cavity direct restorations on extracted teeth.

•Cavity preparations. •Streamlined anatomic layering. •Finishing and polishing. •Realisation on extracted teeth of cavity preparations for inlay and on/overlay.

•Cementation steps using heated high filled composite resin or traditional high- filled composite cement.

•Every participant must realise by himself an inlay and an onlay.
