Professional Analysis of a Music Magazine Front Cover

For this task I have been asked to professionally analyse the codes and

conventions of a music magazine front cover.

Sub Images

• The images are either images of artists or bands.

Articles

• Some articles are titled by the name of the band or artist.

Features

• Features in a magazine are the things that are only in it for that issue. For example the magazine could have an exclusive interview with Noel Gallagher. This would be a one off and wouldn’t feature again maybe for another year or so.

Regular Content

• Regular content is the things that appear in every issue of a music magazine, for example Top 50 countdowns, or fan mail or puffs, games and quizzes.

Columns

• Magazine contents pages are set out in columns and they are then easy for the reader to read and understand the features and articles in the magazine.

• A clear layout puts all of the features and articles into simple form and this draws the attention of the reader.
