A Great Place to Work

CDA Orientation and Registration

Kim LoDico, NYSAEYC Credentialed Trainer

Gayle Nixon, NYSAEYC Credentialed Trainer

This free members only training, offered through Playworks Pro, focuses on the power of safe, fun, and healthy play every day. How kids feel and engage on and off the playground has a direct impact on their academic success, social relationships, and physical health. Play offers children a chance to be active and learn important life and social skills. However, play time is often a period of chaos and conflict. Many kids end up on the sidelines or engaging in playground disputes that spill into the classroom and detract from learning. This hands on workshop will provide tools to address social and emotional learning as well as practical skills that tap into the transformative power of play to change lives.

How is your organizational climate? Are there sunny skies or storms a brewing? As a center director, measuring and monitoring your organizational climate in key to setting the tone for success. In this session, we will explore various strategies that will help you create a great place to work.

Earning a Child Development Associate (CDA) can improve your skills in caring for children and may be able to increase your job opportunities. Child Care Resource Network is proud to offer the most comprehensive program in Western New York. Come and learn why the CDA is the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education (ECE) and is the best first step on the path of career advancement in ECE. This orientation will provide you with the information necessary to prepare for the CDA credential process as well as to learn about scholarship opportunities. Working and Playing Well with Others

Kathy Kiblin, NYSAEYC Credentialed Trainer

Can you imagine your life without your sticky notes or a smartphone? As adults we use all of these tools to manage our lives successfully. Visual supports for in an early childhood classroom can help children navigate their day and routines more easily. Together we will learn the types of visual supports are available. We will make-and-take a visual schedule for you to use in your program right away. Please bring a copy of your daily schedule to this training.

Sponsored by the WNY Infant Toddler Resource Network, Caring Spaces is a three-phased process to measuring quality in infant and toddler programs. It evaluates the child care provider’s ability to provide an open environment, responsive caregiving, and age-appropriate materials and experiences. It can be used as both a self-assessment tool or the program can choose to go through the endorsement process in partnership with an Infant Toddler Specialist. The Caring Spaces Endorsement can be earned by a Family Day Care, Group Family Day Care or Day Care Center’s Infant and Toddler classroom(s).

Gayle Nixon, NYSAEYC Credentialed TrainerWorking and playing well with others requires more than just “being nice.” To be able to collaborate, children need to learn how to take turns, solve social problems, and share community space and stuff. Some children seem to acquire these skills naturally while other children need lots of support to learn how to play cooperatively. Come learn techniques and strategies to help your children with the skill of collaboration!

Dramatic Play - More Than House Keeping

The Ins and Outs of Baby Doll Circle Time

Michelle Wilson, NYSAEYC Credentialed Trainer

Maryann Ciskal, NYSAEYC Credentialed Trainer

Spice up your classroom or house keeping area by adding a few things that will transform it into a restaurant, a vet office or even a grocery store. Children love to explore the world around them. Changing the area to something new gives children an opportunity to learn new vocabulary, social skills and even math and science.

Sponsored by the WNY Infant Toddler Resource Network, Baby Doll Circle is an infant toddler curriculum developed by Dr. Becky Bailey that helps provide one-on-one connections between children and caregivers through fun and engaging activities. Come and learn how you can incorporate this social emotional time into your classroom or home environment to improve the quality of meaningful interactions you have with the children.
