Based on job duties and hours of employment

4 Areas of Training1. Nutrition2. Operations3. Administration4. Communications and Marketing Each area has a list of Learning Codes Learning ObjectivesLearning Topics

Any training that lasts 15 minutes or longer counts! “Teachable

Moments” in the kitchen can be counted towards Professional Standards training hours.

Resources:Annual continuing education/training is an allowable use of the nonprofit school food service account.Professional Standards Website

Documentation of training hours must be available for Administrative Review.

An easy to use Professional Standards Training Tracking Tool is available here:

USDA’s training tracker is not

required. Keeping training

records for 3 years is required.

• Keep a record of hours.• Training agenda (include date, time, objectives, etc.)• Sign-in/Attendance sheet• Certificates• Other paper documentation

• Records must be retained for 3 years
