En 1935 dos de los principales intelectuales de la España de la época, el científico Julio Palacios, y el poeta Gerardo Diego, llegaron a Filipinas con la misión del gobierno español de consolidar los vínculos culturales entre ambos países.
Desde el Instituto Cervantes de Manila, en colaboración con la Embajada de España en Filipinas, la Fundación Gerardo Diego y el Museo Ayala, conmemoramos dicho viaje con una exposición, comisariada por Ariana Valladares, que sirve de homenaje tanto a los protagonistas como a la Filipinas de 1935.

In 1935, Spanish poet Gerardo Diego and scientist Julio Palacios were commissioned by the Government of Spain to visit the Philippines to deliver a series of master lectures as a gesture of affection and friendship of Spain towards its former colony.
The Instituto Cervantes in Manila, the Embassy of Spain, the Fundación Gerardo Diego and the Ayala Museum present the exhibition Gerardo Diego and Julio Palacios in the Philippines: Chronicles of a Journey to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the first cultural mission of Spain to the Philippines. Curated by Ms. Ariana H. Valladares, the exhibit not only pays homage to these two intellectuals but also invites the public to revisit the Philippines in the 1930s.

Con ocasión del Día de la Amistad Hispano-filipina 2015 celebrado el pasado 30 de junio, la Universidad de Filipinas organiza el habitual ciclo de conferencias en el que participa la Embajada de España, dedicado este año a la conmemoración de dos importantes fechas, los 450 años de la llegada de Miguel López de Legazpi a Filipinas, y los 200 años del final de la ruta del Galeón de Manila, una ruta que abrió el archipiélago al comercio internacional.
En esta edición, la historiadora Ruth de Llobet será la invitada española que participará en este encuentro con la ponencia “La apropiación del imperio a finales del siglo XVIII y principios del XIX: Una crítica al enfoque de William G. Skinner y Edgar Wickberg sobre la comunidad chino mestiza en Manila”.
The University of the Philippines, along with the Embassy of Spain, celebrates the Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day, observed every June 30 of the year, with a lecture series commemorating two important dates: the four hundredth anniversary of the arrival of Miguel Lopez de Legazpi in the Philippines as well as the bicentennial of the end of the Manila Galleon Trade, a route that opened the Philippines to world trade.
Spanish historian Ruth de Llobet takes part in this series of lectures by presenting her work entitled “Co-opting Empire at the end of the 18th and early 19th Centuries: A Critique of G. William Skinner’s and Edgar Wickberg´s Approach to the Chinese mestizo Community in Manila”.

Y no faltará, al igual que en años anteriores, la sesión golfa para los más noctámbulos. Maribel Verdú (Madrid, 1970) began acting at thirteen,appearing in various commercials. Then she switched to cinema. Her role in Vicente Aranda’s Amantes
(1991) marked a turning point in her celluloid career. She has thereafter worked with some of the best Spanish directors: Fernando Trueba in the Oscar-awarded Belle Époque (1992); Bigas Luna in Huevos de Oro (1993); Ricardo Franco in La buena estrella (1997) and Carlos Saura in Goya en Burdeos, among others. On the international stage, her career hit a highpoint when she starred in Alfonso Cuarón’s Y tu mamá también (2001), followed by Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth (2006). She also has worked for Coppola in Tetro (2009). Nominated several times for the Goya Awards, she finally received one for her role in Siete mesas de billar francés (Seven Billiard Tables, 2007) and was again awarded for her performance in Blancanieves (2012).

6º Curso de actualización didáctica para profesores filipinos de español 6th Spanish Language Training Course for Filipino Teachers International Convention Center, TagaytayEcotech Center, Cebu
El Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte, en colaboración con la Embajada de España, la Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo y las autoridades educativas Filipinas organizan el VI curso de actualización didáctica para profesores Filipinos de español.
Al curso, que se celebrará en el International Convention Center de Tagaytay, y en el Ecotech Center de Cebú, asistirán ochenta profesores que imparten lengua española en el Departamento de Educación, TESDA y la Universidad Normal de Cebú.
La duración total de la actividad será de 30 horas, y se abordarán aspectos relacionados con la lengua y cultura españolas, el desarrollo de enfoques metodológicos innovadores y la elaboración de materiales.
The Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, in partnership with the Embassy of Spain, the Menéndez Pelayo International University (Spain) and the Department of Education of the Philippines organize the 6th Spanish Language Training Course for Filipino Teachers.
The course will take place at the International Convention Center in Tagaytay and at the Ecotech Center in Cebu. A total of 80 Filipino professors of Spanish language from the Department of Education, TESDA and the Cebu Normal University will attend the course.
The 30-hour course focuses on Spanish culture and language, new teaching methodologies and preparation of teaching materials.

La Embajada de España en Filipinas, el CentroCentro de Cibeles de Cultura y Ciudadanía del Ayuntamiento de Madrid y la Facultad de Arte y Diseño de De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde producen y organizan la exposición ¿Cazadores de Tendencias? Los nombres esenciales de la moda española, un recorrido fotográfico por los creadores más destacados de la moda española de las últimas cuatro décadas.
Comisariada por Pedro Mansilla, esta exposición hace un repaso alfabético de hasta un total de 67 nombres propios de la moda española -entre ellos, Adolfo Domínguez, Balenciaga, La Casita de Wendy, David Delfín o Loewe - retratados por grandes fotógrafos como Alberto García-Alix, Juan Gatti, Martin Scott Powell o Patricia León.

Talleres “Dibujando el Mundo” en Manila “Drawing the World” Workshops in Manila
Tras la participación del ilustrador filipino Mark Lawrence Andres en los talleres “Dibujando el mundo” junto a un ilustrador mexicano, otro marroquí y tres españoles en Madrid el pasado mes de mayo, ahora es el turno del ilustrador español LPO (Luis Pérez Ortiz) quien impartirá junto con el ilustrador filipino sendos talleres a aficionados y profesionales de la ilustración recorriendo las calles de la ciudad lápiz en mano.
Se trata de una oda a los cuadernos de viaje y una invitación a redescubrir lo que nos rodea. Los cuadernos seleccionados a raíz de las actividades realizadas en Madrid, México D.F., Casablanca y Manila configurarán la futura exposición “Dibujando el mundo” que viajará a España, México, Marruecos y Filipinas en 2016.
Dibujando el mundo es un proyecto de ilustración y cooperación cultural organizado por el Museo ABC de Ilustración, la Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID) y en el que participa la Embajada de España en Filipinas.
After the participation of Filipino illustrator Mark Lawrence Andres in the workshop “Drawing the World” held last May in Madrid, where he worked with fellow artists from Mexico, Morocco and Spain, now is the turn of Spanish illustrator LPO (Luis Pérez Ortiz) to work in Manila alongside Andres and give workshops to amateurs and illustration professionals, roaming the streets of the city pen in hand.
This is an ode to travel journals and an invitation to rediscover what surround us. The travel sketchbooks selected from these activities in Madrid, Mexico D.F.,

La Embajada de España estará presente en la III edición de la Feria Europea de Educación Superior que organiza la Delegación de la Unión Europea en Filipinas. Esta edición se centrará en la Movilidad, la Calidad y la Globalización en el ámbito de la enseñanza superior.
Además de las universidades españolas que se inscriban, la Consejería de Educación y el Instituto Cervantes de Manila estarán presentes en la Feria, en la que se impartirá una sesión informativa titulada ‘Estudiar en España’.
The Embassy of Spain will participate in the third edition of the European Higher Education Fair organized by the European Union Delegation in the Philippines. This year’s fair will focus on mobility, quality and globalization within the higher education system.
Aside from the Spanish universities expected to join the event, the Education Office of the Embassy of Spain and the Instituto Cervantes de Manila will offer an information session entitled “Studying in Spain”.

La Embajada de España, a través de la Consejería de Educación y los lectores de la AECID, organizan una jornada de actualización didáctica para profesorado de español en colaboración con la universidad Ateneo de Manila.
Estas jornadas, que se desarrollan semestralmente, tienen por objetivo facilitar la formación continua de los profesores filipinos de español proporcionándoles materiales y recursos didácticos innovadores.
In collaboration with the Ateneo de Manila University, the Embassy of Spain, through its Education Office and the AECID visiting lecturers, the Embassy of Spain presents a conference on new teaching strategies for Spanish language teachers.
This conference, held every semester, aims to give continuous training to Filipino teachers of Spanish language by providing innovative teaching materials and resources.
