Programme: Financial Sponsorship Scheme; HOPE
Procedure
The Hislop College Alumni Association, Nagpur (HISCAAN) shall sponsor students each
from Science, Arts and Commerce stream respectively for financial sponsorship.
The selection procedure for short listing of candidates shall include two levels of selection,
which shall include;
Selection by a panel of teachers from the three streams respectively. The procedure
shall include verification of the details provided by the students in the given format
(Format attached) The criteria for the basis of selection areas under;
o Financial Condition (Economical Details)
o Academic proficiency
o Existing support system
o Vision of the student for Career prospects
o Aptitude for putting in maximum efforts for future growth and
development (To be judged by the panel)
Students shall be selected from the shortlisted candidates after a personal interview
with a panel comprising
Principal
Senior faculty member from the College
Alumni Association member from the College.

‘Motivational Talk & Cheque Distribution Programme’ Was Organised By HISCAAN in
Hislop College, Civil Lines, Nagpur on MARCH 2, 2017 at 12:00 Noon. Dr. Sapna Sharma
was a chief guest and resource person for the programme. Dr Dipti Christian, Principal,
Hislop College, Mr. Nikhil Tarkunde, President HISCAAN, Rtn. Sandeep Dhodapkar, Dr.
Jayant Ranade, Treasurer, Mr. Dinesh Chhabra, Vice President, Dr Deepa Jamwal, Secretary,
Dr Mousumi Bhowal, Alumni Convenor, and Dr. Abhilasha Raut were present.
Dr. Razeka Khan anchored the programme and welcomed all the dignitaries for the fifth
edition of cheque distribution under HOPE scheme on behalf of Hislop College Alumni
Association Nagpur (HISCAAN). Dr Dipti Christian in the introductory address
congratulated the students for getting Financial Sponsorship from HISCAAN. She also
highlighted the fact that there were 25 students who were repeated beneficiaries of this HOPE
scheme. She asked the students to be regular not only in their studies but also in co curricular
and extracurricular activities, as all round development is the need of the hour.
Mr. Nikhil Tarkunde in his address congratulated the students for bagging HOPE scholarship.
He thanked Rotary Club of Nagpur for continued contribution towards this fund. He further
acknowledged and thanked the college staff for contributing towards this scheme.
He appreciated the efforts of screening committee of college teachers for rigorous selection
of students. Dr. Razeka introduced Dr. Sapna Sharma the chief guest who is an International
Spiritual Counsellor, Life Coach, Motivational speaker and an Author although by
qualification she is an Eye surgeon. She is also the President of Association of Counsellors
and Psychotherapists, an organization that has been working relentlessly to train more and
more counsellors and to increase the awareness of the benefits of counselling among masses
while conducting many free counselling and guidance programs
Dr. Sapna Sharma on the onset congratulated the students for receiving the sponsorship. She
asked the students to prepare themselves for rest of their life during these four and five years
of college as these are the most crucial times in a student’s life. She further emphasized the
fact that one needs to set Goals. This is an important method of deciding what one wants to
achieve in one’s life. Separating what's important from what's irrelevant, or a distraction,
motivating oneself. Building own self-confidence, based on successful achievement of goals
and to be prepared for whatever one is going to face in one’s life. She motivated the students
to be special, to break the path, to take advantage of the available resources to reach the set
goals. As this would help in building self confidence based on successful achievement of
goals. She cited real life examples for easy comprehension of the students. She urged the
students to not only use of technology like social media, Face book and LinkedIn but also to
master English language to better their communication skills for their own growth.
The session was highly interactive where in Dr. Sharma answered all the different queries put
forth by the students.
Mr. Yuvraj Thakre, Ms. Aliya Sheikh, Mr. Rohan Nicholas and Mr. Rakesh Kashyap student
beneficiary of this scheme shared their gratifying experiences on availing the HOPE
Scholarship.
The programme concluded with distribution of Sponsorship cheques by the dignitaries to
eighty eight students (88) from Arts, Science and Commerce streams. Dr. Jayant Ranade
proposed the vote of thanks.
