Trade and Investment Ecosystems: Delivering for GrowthThisisnotatimeforbusinessasusual.WithtradefacingstrongheadwindsandwiththesharedglobalcommitmenttoachievetheUnitedNationsSustainableDevelopmentGoalsby2030,thereisaneedtofosterapproachesthatcandeliverfuturegrowthandprosperityatscale.Theroleoftradeandinvestmentpromotionorganizations(TIPOs)-toensurethattradecontributestoinclusiveandsustainablegrowth-alignstothesedevelopmentgoals.Inresponsetotheseshifts,TIPOsareharnessingecosystemsofbusinesssupporttoofferinnovative,seamlessandintegratedsolutions.
Atthe2018World Trade Promotion Organizations Conference,wewillfocusonhowanecosystemapproachcouldaddvalueforsmallbusinessesandtheimplicationsofthisapproachforthefuturedirectionofTIPOs.ThisincludestheemergingroleofaTIPOtobeacatalystforcooperationamongactors,providingintegratedservicesthatimprovethecompetitivenessofsmalltomediumsizedenterprises(SMEs),andsupportinginclusivegrowth.Wewillconsiderhowrapidchangesintechnologyarealteringtheactors,linkagesandplatformsthatmakeuptheseecosystems.Wewillalsoreflectonhowtomeasuretheworkofinstitutionsincludingreportingonbroadersocio-economicimpact.
