The European Union Committee The European Union Committee of the House of Lords considers EU documents and other matters relating to the EU in advance of decisions being taken on them in Brussels. It does this in order to influence the Government’s position in negotiations, and to hold them to account for their actions at EU level.

Progress of Scrutiny This document records decisions taken on EU documents sent to the Committee for scrutiny. Details of the Committee’s current work and planned meetings are in the Weekly Bulletin of Select Committees, available from the Committee Office and online at http://www.parliament.uk/documents/upload/LordsWeeklyBulletin.pdf. The Committee’s reports and correspondence are online. The web addresses for the Committee and its Sub-Committees are in the last chapter. The report is divided into five sections: i. Documents under scrutiny or awaiting correspondence; ii. Inquiries and reports; iii. Documents cleared from scrutiny; iv. Scrutiny overrides; and v. Committee members and contact details. Scrutiny items are ordered by Council number, the most recent first. Each scrutiny item is presented in three columns: Council numbers and associated documents. Documents without a Council number are listed as “ONTYR” (Official Text Not Yet Received) with the date of the explanatory memorandum.

Document title and details of the Committee’s scrutiny. This may include correspondence, inquiries, reports and scrutiny overrides.

Scrutiny information including Sub-Committee, sift date and cleared date. “IPEX” here indicates that scrutiny information has been uploaded to IPEX, the interparliamentary scrutiny database at www.ipex.eu
