ARPAN CHARITABLE TRUST- VADODARA

Establishment of a new unit for children having Down Syndrome

The Project “Establishment of a new unit for Children having Down

Syndrome” is supported by GUVNL.

The Age Group of children enrolled in Arpan Diagnostic & Development

Centre is one month to 30 years.

Overall children at Arpan are 157, while in Project aspect there are 46-47

young children. And agency personnel shared that the number of

children may get change as they are Down Syndrome children and they

are having constant mood swings.

They are having activities such as Physio and speech therapy, Vocational

rehabilitation, Assessment and Diagnosis.

They are catering all kinds of handicaps under one roof. And children are

more expert in games and Sports in Mahakumbh.

There is less scope of vocational training at Arpan, as shared by agency

personnel that these children cannot sit for longer time at same place

but, they have displayed few things made by children like Diyas, Paper

bags, etc.

The project has been completed, the list of beneficiary details is attached

herewith.

PROJECT 2:

DISHA CHARITABLE TRUST

At Disha Charitable trust, Pre-vocational and Vocational training centre was

started with the support of GUVNL for children with special needs.

There is Health check up been organized at Disha on 9th December. Wherein,

the team visits in slum areas of Vadodara and provide transportation facilities

also for Medical checkup.

In total, there is 150 children. And for GCSRA project there are 26 children are

enrolled under the skill training program.

The children trained in different trades are having good discipline in terms of

behavior and skill in learning new things.

They are capable to show things prepared by them during training such as

earrings, block print, jewellery, etc. which they are planning to set up an

exhibition for displaying those items.

The PIA has also add Terrace Gardening (Green Room)in the vocational skill

training program for the students.

PROJECT 3:

OSMOSIS PLAY CENTRE

Osmosis Play Centre project is aimed “To enhance and update special

education centre for children with special needs”.

There is team of trained teachers for remedial education. Sessions of 1

hour for each student for Remedial class.

There is Library, equipped with Books and Games. Even the games are

interesting, as it was shown how useful it is to teach Maths in a Simple

way.

There are Occupational Therapists, speech Therapists, and remedial

therapies are provided to the students at centre.
