Purpose

The goals of this project are to determine the grazable acreage at Freeman Ranch. Another task will be to create aspect, elevation, and utilities. This project is designed to enable further development of Freeman Ranch and provide insight into its potential for livestock. This project will also provide several thematic maps useful to Freeman Ranch associates.

Task 1: Grazable Land

Our first objective is to determine the amount of favorable, and accessible, grazable land.

Task 1: Previous Period All of the data necessary for completing

this task has been gathered.

Vegetation and layer has been reclassified to separate areas covered by cedar from open space.

All variables have been separated into individual layers for analysis. This includes elevation, and rock coverage.

Task 1: Current Period We are beginning to run analyses on

our data to determine which areas have the highest grazing potential.

In performing these analyses we are also checking the quality of our data, and modifying our classifications as needed.

Task1: Next Period The next step will be to determine

which areas are reachable by the cattle.

Finally, we will interpret the results of our analysis and apply that to a final map of grazable land area.

Task 2: Thematic Maps

Develop a map of Freeman Ranch aspect, 3D elevation model, and a map of Freeman ultilities.

Task 2: Previous Period

We were able to create a rudimentary aspect map using elevation data.

Currently we are working on creating a 3D model of Freeman Ranch.

Preliminary steps have been taken to create an map of Freeman Ranch utilities.

Task 2: Current Period

Task 2: Next Period

Once we have completed a 3D model, we will be to create a usable map with building information, road and fence, and drinker locations.

We will create a thematic map with utility information.

Conclusion

So far we have not encountered any problems, and we do not foresee any major obstacles in the future. The project is on schedule to complete on time, and we should be able to meet all of our major objectives. Further details on our findings will be presented in our final report.
