  • Montage

Description: An inspirational montage made by bleding two images together and adding typography.

    Programs Used: Photoshop

    Date: 5/30/15

    Course: Visual Media Section 6

    Instructor: Brother Judkins

Objectives: Manage Photoshop layers.Learn to blend two or more images together using masks.Using filters.Applying appropriate typography.

Process: I used photo shop for this project. I found an image of clouds and the image of the football player. I used the clouds as the background, but changed the color to black and white. I put the image of the football player on top of the clouds and added a mask to it. Then I blended the images together to make them look like theyre the same image, instead of two separate. Once I had the image the way I wanted it, I added the text. When I got the text in the right position, I added a linear light effect to it, which gave it a transparent look.

  • Event Ad

Description:An event ad to promote a fundraiser, using only Microsoft Word and a scanner.

    Programs Used: Microsoft WordEpson scanner

    Date: 5/16/15

    Course: Visual Media Section 6

    Instructor: Brother Judkins

Objectives: Scan and import a high quality image. Insert and edit images into word.Use text boxes for layouts.Create a full bleed design.

Process:I got this image from an instruction manual of a video game. I scanned the image to my computer. I had to use Photo shop to get rid of the text at the top of the page. When I was done in Photo shop, I put the image into Microsoft word. I expanded the image to make it fit the page. Once the image fit the page, I thought of an event and then wrote a description of it. I aligned the text and the image diagonally because I thought it was the best way to create a flow in the ad.

  • Business Card

Description:A business card and letterhead designed using a personally created logo.

    Programs Used: Adobe InDesign

    Date: 6/13/15

    Course: Visual Media Section 6

    Instructor: Brother Judkins

Objectives: Design consistent layouts for a business card and letterhead.Use the basic tools of InDesign.

Process:I used Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign for this project. I created my logos in Illustrator and then placed them into InDesign. I made two 3.5x2 boxes to make the shape of the card. The top box is the front of the card and the bottom box is the back. I used the shape tool to create the line that runs across the top of the card. I also added in a watermark on my business card. To create the water mark, I placed the image of the basketball on the card and then changed the transparency from 100% to 2%. I wanted there to be repetition between my business card and the letterhead, so I used all of the same text, the same logo, and the same line across the top on the letterhead. I also made a water-mark on my letterhead, but increased the size of the basketball.

  • Letterhead

Description: A business card and letterhead designed using a personally created logo.

  • Webpage

Description: A webpage designed to display a personally created logo.

    Programs Used: Photoshop TextWrangler

    Date: 6/27/15

    Course: Visual Media Section 6

    Instructor: Brother Judkins

Objectives: Resize an original logo to fit on a wedpage.Describe the process of creating the logo.Design a webpage using HTML to display the logo.Learn the basics of HTML nnd CSS.Identify hex colors for web design.

Process: To make this website, I used TextWrangler. I was the given the basic set up for HTML and CSS, so I just had to change things around to make the website look the way I wanted. First I put an image onto my background that I thought fit with the logo and message Im trying to get across. I used the same image from my logos project for this website, so I just had to insert it into the CSS program. I used Photoshop to get the numbers for the colors I wanted off my logo. Once I found the numbers, I copied and pasted them into the CSS program where I wanted them to be on the website. For the body, I moved it around using CSS to get it in the place where I wanted it. This was my first time ever using HTML and CSS, so whenever I need to know how to change something in the program, I went to http://www.w3schools.com/.

  • Brochure

Description: A two sided folding brochure.

Programs Used: Adobe InDesignAdobe IllustratorAdobe Photoshop

    Date: 7/11/15

    Course: Visual Media Section 6

    Instructor: Brother Judkins

Objectives: Set up a two sided folding document.Learn how to wrap text around an image and create a clipped image.Use paragraph styles.

Process: I started out in Adobe InDesign. I looked up the dimensions of a trifold brochure and then placed the ruler guides in the correct spots. I looked up several images that I thought would be good to use in a brochure about a corn festival. In Adobe Illustrator, I created the corn logo, which is placed on the front of the brochure. I went back to InDesign and made the background a dark green color. I placed the images where I wanted them to be. I created a line space paragraph style that I used for my text. I made the text the same color yellow thats on the logo I created for color consistency. Once I printed out the project, I folded it into the trifold.

  • Logos

Description: Three logo variations for the same company.

    Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator

    Date: 6/6/15

    Course: Visual Media Section 6

    Instructor: Brother Judkins

Objectives: Create a variety of logos to fit a company.Learn how to use the basic tools in Ilustrator.

Process: I used Adobe Illustrator to create three logos for a company I made up. For the top logo, I used the text tool to make the SP and the RTS, in he sports. Then I created a basketball using the shape and pen tools. I used the basketball as the O in the word. I used the text tool to spell the Courts and put it under the word Sports, making sure it was aligned. To make the two smaller basketballs on the side of the logo, I just copied and pasted the larger basketball and re-sized them. For the second logo, I copied the first logo and made everything in black and white. For the third logo, I created a rounded rectangle using the shape tool. After I had done that, I copied the first logo, changed the color of the text and basketballs to white, and then put it into the shape I made.

  • Flier

Description: A promotional flier to promote a graduate student leadershipconference.

    Programs Used: Adobe InDesign

    Date: 5/9/15

    Course: Visual Media Section 6

    Instructor: Brother Judkins

Objectives: Learn the basics of InDesign.Learn how to make proper flier layouts.Learn how to link images and keep them intact.

Process: The first thing I did was making four sketches of possible layouts for the flier. I picked the layout I thought would get the message across the best. In Adobe InDesign, I inserted the images and created boxes to make the layout I wanted. I created a focal point by capitalizing the word graduate in the title. I created flow in the flier by making the most important information in bold text. I made sure there was enough space in between the images and text and made sure that related information was grouped together.

  • PhotoDesgin

Description: A photo taken personally and edited using Photoshop.

    Programs Used: Photoshop

    Date: 5/23/15

    Course: Visual Media Section 6

    Instructor: Brother Judkins

Objectives: Learn the basics of photography.Size and crop an image.Adjust image brightness, contrast. hue, and saturation levels.Use a camera to take a high quality image and import it onto a computer.

Process: I took the photo, making sure the shoe was the focus. I used a Nikon DSLR camera to take this photo. After taking the photo, I put it into photoshop. I used some editing tools in photoshop, such as vibrance and selective color to make the blue lighter. I cropped out part of the image and added the orange border along the top and the right side. I used to the eye dropper tool to make sure the border and the blue text at the top were the same colors as the shoe.
