PROJECT E-SETU
Project e-setu is the Pilot e-governance initiative of Jorhat District, Assam sponsored by UNDP–DOPT (Government of India), making Jorhat the firste-administration District in the State of Assam and the entire North –East Region. Setu in the local language means a Bridge and eSetu is the bridge between the People and the Government. This Project facilitates improved Citizens access to Information and Government Services.

Breaking the Natural Barrier : Bridge to Majuli. People can’t but ‘e-Setu’ can…..
Majuli, one of the world’s largest river island and well known for rich vaishnavite culture falls in Jorhat district.
Through the project e-setu this island has been connected digitally with the Deputy Commissioner’s office at Jorhat.
Public Facilitation Center at Sub-Divisional Office, Majuli.
Private ‘kiosk’ at Garmur is running successfully and more will be opened in near future.
Community Information Centers (CICs) at Kamalabari and Jhengraimukh are to be included in the near future‘e-Setu’ the People’s Bridge :
