The Summary….
One day, there was a man named Magat, and he walked along the river. He saw a beautiful maiden there, taking a bath. He saw that there was a python was about to attack the maiden. The maiden, didn’t notice the snake beside her. Magat run as fast as he could to stab the python. The python died. The maiden shocked because she thought that Magat might kill her. Then the guy explained everything.
After that incident, they became friends, then one day Magat confessed his feelings toward the beautiful maiden. He proposed! The maiden said YES to Magat as her husband, but in one condition. It is never to see her in the mid-day. And Magat made his soulful promise to his wife. But one day, he broke it, by secretly seeing his wife at mid-day. But instead, he saw a crocodile to the resting place of his wife. He killed the crocodile and he found out that the one he killed was his wife. He got angry to himself to the point he drowned his own body into the river.

He served as chief editor for the Philippine House of Representatives before he died in 1966. He considered that moment of his life to be full of poverty, extreme loneliness, and adolescent pains. During this period he became very lonely and was driven to write poetry to express his feelings.

The Summary…
Awiyao and Lumnay were husband and wife for almost seven years, but the husband need to marry another woman, Madulimay, because Lumnay was not able to give him a child. Awiyao went back home to see Lumnay, because he didn't find her among the dancers at his wedding. He wanted Lumnay to dance at his wedding for the last time but she refused.

On the night of the wedding, they talk about how Lumnay did her best to have a child. Lumnay wanted to protest against the written rule that a man can marry another woman, so Lumnay went to the wedding dance. But while seeing her husband married to another woman, she could not take it anymore and just went to the mountain.

Footnote to Youth
Jose Garcia VillaPoet, critic, short story writer, and painter, he was a consummate artist in poetry and in person as well. At parties given him by friends and admirers whenever he came home for a brief visit, things memorable usually happened. Take that scene many years ago at the home of the late Federico Mangahas, a close friend of Villa's.

Summary…Dodong is only 17 when he wanted to get married. He was impatiently waiting to his father to arrive. When his father was already there, Dodong told his love for Teang and his desire to get married. At first, his father disagreed to his plan because he was too young to get married. But after that long and cruel silence his father gave his consent to him. Nine months later, Teang gave birth to his first son named, Blas and for the next six years Teang gave birth. Seven children in all.

Teang did not complain. However her body was now shapeless and thin from bearing so many children and from the hard work of caring of them and the household. Even though she loved Dodong, she cried and wished that she had not married so young. One night Dodong goes outside and thinks about his life. He wants to have the wisdom to know why his life does not fulfill his youth’s dreams. When Blas turns 18, he comes home and tells Dodong that he wants to marry Tena.
Dodong at this time is only 36 years old, but he
is portrayed as a much older man. Dodong does
not want Blas to mary so young. He asks the
same question his father asked him. Does Blas
have to marry Tena? He does not want him to
make the same mistake he did. Blas also reacts
with resentment. Dodong realizes that he is
dealing with Youth and Love, and they will
triumph over this situation. After that, comes real
life. He gives his consent, feeling sad and sorry
