History of Project ManagementGreat Pyramids, Great wall of China was build based on Planning , Coordination, Allocation of resources with Thousand of Laborers, which forms the basic elements of Modern Project Management followed and used today.
Due to growing complexities in Manufacturing, Transportation in late 19th Century ,concept of Project Management Emerged.
The first Large scale Project management was for a transcontinental railroad project officially signed by President Abraham Lincoln.
A railroad linking America's east and west coasts was inaugurated on May 10, 1869

Contd……Henry Gantt, was father of Modern Project management, who introduced Planning and control techniques and developed charts to keep track of projects, which today are known as Gantt Charts.
In 1909, Taylor published "The Principles of Scientific Management." In this, he proposed that by optimizing and simplifying jobs, productivity would increase. He also advanced the idea that workers and managers needed to cooperate with one another. This was very different from the way work was typically done in businesses beforehand.

Key ResponsibilitiesProgress - deliverables are being completed within the baseline time scales
Cost - deliverables are being completed within the baseline cost plan

Performance (Value) - progress is being earned for the expected cost
Cash flow - net project cash flow is being achieved as the defined expectations
SHE – the required Safety, Health & Environmental standards are being achieved
Regulatory - All required statutory and regulatory conditions are being met
Reporting - Regular and timely reporting of project progress to the sponsors
Risk - to proactively manage foreseen project risk, mitigating as necessary
Change - managing changes to the project without unduly affecting the stated objectives and benefits
