Introduction and BackgroundIntroduction and Background

Review of the SoW

The Khazzan Project in the Sultanate of Oman will undertake some

Early Infrastructure works (EIW) to prepare the development area for

drilling and additional construction work. As part of this EIW a series

of Glass Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) water pipelines will be constructed.

This series of Pipelines will include two Water Gathering Headers to

transport raw water to Gathering Header Termination Facility

(GHTF) and a Water Supply Pipeline to transport raw water to reverse

osmosis (RO) water purification plant, the Raw Water Treatment

Facility (RWTF), located near the Central Processing Facility (CPF).

Critical ActivitiesCritical Activities that have been envisaged at this stage from past experience in working similar kind of works are:

Site Establishment & Mobilization.

Transportation of Pipes

ROW Construction.

Trenching considering the amount of hard rock

available.

Jointing considering the Heat/dusty/sandy atmosphere.Hydro-testingTimely Delivery of Permanent and qualification materials by Company.

Page 13: Project Mobilization Presentation

Transportation of Pipes

Approximate distance to site for transportation is 500 kms

Number of estimated trailer trips is approx.250 trips This activity will be sub-contracted to an experienced

and approved Transportation company. Method Statement for transportation will be developed

and approved by Company prior to start of any activity.

Mini HSE workshop shall be conducted for this activity prior to start.

Page 14: Project Mobilization Presentation

Proper Journey Management (JM) during mobilization phase is key to safe and timely completion.

Journey Management procedures will be put in place immediately upon award giving route details/rest areas/speed limits /emergency response etc.

Any Movement of resources from Coast to Site will be through proper JM controlled by Coastal Journey Managers.

Site based Journey Manager will be established immediately upon award with first mobilization.

Manpower movement after establishment from Coast to QarnAlam will be in Public transport.

Daily Bus shuttle will be provided from QarnAlam to Block 61 Contractor camp.

Thuraya Phone will be provided to the Bus driver to maintain communication at all times.

Journey Management & Communication

PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION

RIGHT OF WAY (ROW)

After the approval of First phase of camp, Right of way will be Commenced from the starting of Gathering Header 2 (South) till end point of Hanya Pipeline(approx. 10km+37kms = 47kms).

Planned production for ROW preparation is 500 mtrs per day, Utililizing 2 Dozers & 2 Graders.

Ripper Survey will be carried out immediately after First Phase camp is approved to ascertain the rock quantities

Page 17: Project Mobilization Presentation

TRENCHING

It is planned to commence the trenching of 10’’& 12” pipelines

with two trenchers simultaneously.

At this stage rock-blasting is not envisaged, however ripper

survey as stated earlier will be carried out in initial stages to

establish or rule out requirement of rock-blasting.

Reviewing the Atkins geo-reports of trial pits, at most of the

places moderate to hard rock with range of UCS from 1.5 to 281

encountered. With past experience on such strata 300-400 mtrs

of linear trench on 10”/12” Pipeline per trencher can be

achieved. Which gives us an average production of 600- 800

mtrs per day.

PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION

Page 18: Project Mobilization Presentation

PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION

STRINGING, JOINTING & LOWERING•Stringing of both the pipelines 10” and 12” will commence simultaneously.•Four independent Jointing teams will be mobilized for 10”(2 crew) & 12”(2 crews) line after qualification and certification. Jointing productivity for 10” and 12” pipelines is planned as 15 and 20 joints respectively.•Pipes for qualification of bonders shall be required 4 weeks in advance •Doubling of pipes shall be done above ground and doubled pipes will be lowered and bonded in the trench.

Page 19: Project Mobilization Presentation

Back End Activities Back end activities like post padding, laying of FOC

cable and installation of tiles, back filling and formation of windrows shall be done on the same rate of progress as planned for the day.

Hydrostatic Testing Pipe cleaning activities shall be planned section

wise as per approved procedures. Hydrostatic testing activities shall be carried out in

sections. Final Testing will be carried out after tie-in joints are

carried out.

PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION

Page 20: Project Mobilization Presentation

WADI CONSTRUCTION

Wadi area is identified for 12” Pipeline is 3.2Kms and for both the headers is 2.2 kms.

4 Major Wadi’s are identified. Additional Depth and Protection with Sand Sacks

depending of Type of wadi will be carried out Approximately 15,000 sand sacks to be laid.

PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION

Well Head & On-Plot Works

•On-plot Fabrication and Pre-casting foundation works works

will be preferred to be carried out at our coastal facilities.

• Well head construction : 12 nos

•The amount of concrete works per well is 30 Cu Mtrs.

•Piping Inch Dia per well head Approx. 280 Inch Dia.

Site Establishment-Camp/Offices/ Industrial FacilitiesSite Establishment-Camp/Offices/ Industrial Facilities

GPS has allowed for a Site Establishment near the portable launchers of Gathering Headers.

Residential Camp of approx. 270 men is envisaged, however provision will be kept within the camp for additional personnel.

Block 61 GPS has agreed with STS to provide 40-50 accommodations in their

camp, at Block 61. These will be utilized to mobilize personnel for camp construction.

GPS is planning to mobilize 16 Porta cabins in the First stage to accommodate 80 men to commence the Trenching activity and simultaneously continue with Site Establishment.

First stage 16 Porta cabins installation will be done. Disposal of sewage will be by vacuum tankers to the existing facility available with BP. First Stage completion is expected in 6-7weeks time.

Page 24: Project Mobilization Presentation

Site Establishment-Camp/Offices/ Industrial FacilitiesSite Establishment-Camp/Offices/ Industrial Facilities

•Second stage we are planning to build 70 porta cabins with all disposal facilities. Second Stage completion is expected in 12-13 weeks.•STP will be installed for sewage management.•RO plant installation would be preferred should BP provide source of water close to camp or else water will be hauled from Awaifi. •Facility for offices etc will be established during the second stage.•Prefabrication of CS piping and Pre-casting of sleepers/foundations shall be carried out at our central Workshop at Barkha.
