About the project:

Naturatica is an amazing project in which you will have the opportunity to be in contact with nature and Costa Rican lifestyle during 6 weeks. You will be working in different tasks related to nature protection and conservation.

You will be working with Preserve Planet

(http://preserveplanet.org/) in different rural communities and also

in San José, which is Costa Rica´s capital.

Preserve Planet is a non-governmental, non-religious, private, apolitical, and

non-profit organization founded to fight for the conservation and protection of nature through direct action, supported by environmental education programs.

Week 1

During this week you will have the IPS (Introductory …. Seminar), you will learn about:

- Costa Rica´s culture. - AIESEC culture.

-Specific information about the project.Also there will be some activities:

-Coffee tour.-Work at a Butterfly Garden.

-Participate in the Global Village, an activity to show your culture and learn about others. So bring souve-nirs, your flag, typical food, pictures, music and all kind of stuff that represents your country in order to

share with the other participants. During this week you will be staying with host

families.

Week 2,3, 4 and 5

You will travel to 3 different rural communities: Tapantí, Purisil and Finca Loroco. Tapantí is a National Park in the

edge of the highest hill in Costa Rica, named Cerro Chirripó. This park provides habitat for 45 mammal

species and 400 birds species. Purisil is near to Tapantí and also is full of nature. Finca Loroco is located in

Talamanca, it is an indigenous zone in the middle of the mountains and Caribbean coast. You will be staying at

shelters, and develop different activities such as:-Campaign for the protection of and sustainable use of

resources. -Trails creation.

-Recycling training.-Working with communities.

Week 6

You will return to your host family and will develop different tasks related to

environmental protection in the capital and surroundings.

Week 6

What about free days?

You will have 2 days off per week; it means that during your free time you can make plans to explore Costa Rica. Take into account these days will also be used to commute from one place to the other in the project schedule.

What to bring:

-Comfortable clothing and shoes (shirts, pants, waterproof

shoes).-Cap.

-Waterproof jacket.

-Sunscreen.-Repellent.

-Sleeping bag.

-Umbrella.-Swimsuit, sandals,

towel, sneakers. -Party/ going out

outfit. - Backpack (you can leave the big suitcase with your host family when you have to go to the rural commu-

nities).

-Global Village things. -The best attitude!

About the money:

You have to pay a fee of $100, lodging is provided the 6 weeks. We recommended you to bring in

order to attend meals and transportation.

Costa Rica official coin is “Colones” - $1 (USD) is around �550 (CRC)- €1 (EURO) is around �750 (CRC)

The recommendation is to bring cash but also debit/credit cards. You can change dollars and euros at any bank.

Airport Pick Up:

We will pick up the intern at Juan Santamaría Airport from 5:00 to 23:00, if your arrival time is out of this schedule you have to wait at the airport during this

time.

Important: If you travel from Brazil you have to take the Yellow Fever Vaccine at least 10

days before arriving in Costa Rica.

�ps: Bring a cell phone that allows to introduce a chip in it, so you can

use a Costa Rican once you’re here.

Remember to send an insurance copy to your tracking manager, it must cover the whole duration of the project.

We recommend you to carry a passport copy with you and a copy of your medical insurance.
