Project Outcomes Report for the General Public• America COMPETES Act requirement specific to NSF
• Report serves as a brief summary prepared by the PI specifically for the public, describing the nature and outcomes of the project
• Effective for new awards/funding increments to existing awards made on or after January 4
• PIs and co-PIs will use Research.gov to prepare and submit this report using new report submission service that will be availible in Research.gov later this summer
• Required in additional to final project reports which will continue to go through FastLane
• Will be posted for public with other award information in Research.gov’s Research Spending and Results Service

PI receives email notification that a POR is due or overdue

FPR Logic- Due notice sent on 1st due day - Thereafter one due notice is sent each month until the POR is submitted or becomes overdue- Overdue notice sent after 1st overdue day - Thereafter 1 notice is sent every two weeks - All emails are stored in eJacket’s eCorrespondence Module
• Same logic for due/overdue notices for the Final Project Report (FPR) will be used for the Project Outcomes Report (POR).
• Due/overdue notices will be sent to Principal Investigators (PIs) and any active Co-PIs on the award with a copy to the Sponsored Project Officers (SPOs), Program Officers (POs) and Administrative Officers (AOs).

Report Preparation and Submission• PIs will submit a brief (200 – 800 words of content) report and have the option to
upload images via the new reporting tool in Research.gov
• Report is posted publically to Research.gov with a disclaimer: “The Project Outcomes Report for the General Public is displayed verbatim as
submitted by the Principle Investigator (PI0 for this award. Any opinions, findings, and conclusions or recommendations expressed in this Report are those of the PI and do not necessarily reflect the views of the National Science Foundation; NSF has not approved or endorsed its content”
• Ability to modify a submitted report for up to 30 days after submission. After 30 days, modifications to reports can be made by adding an unlimited number of addenda to the original report

Report should:– Address the intellectual
merit and broader impacts of the work as defined in the NSF merit review criteria.
– Be brief: 200-800 words– Be written for the lay reader

revise their report may do so by adding an addendum
• Addenda briefly summarize additional outcomes of awards (up to 800 words)
