PROJECT BACKGROUND

• Nature trail lacking accessibility features for people of all ages and abilities (non-ADA compliant)

• Thickly vegetated land along creek

• Project area is near but lacks access to major roadways (N Lamar Blvd and IH-35)

Crossing under N Lamar Blvd

Impassible vegetation near IH-35

Existing Conditions

Design Considerations

Northern Walnut Creek Trail Section 2 must:

• Provide safe and accessible connections for all trail users from IH-35 to Balcones District Park

• Follow existing nature trails at much as possible to reduce impact and tree removal

• Avoid use of additional land beyond existing COA and TxDOT property

• Follow all City enviornmental codes

• Avoid any increase in creek flood levels up to 500 year storm event
