August/September 2017 Project Status On Aug. 24, the CDOT Central 70 Project team announced the selection of Kiewit Meridiam Partners (KMP) as its preferred proposer to design, build and finance the reconstruction of I-70 through central Denver, as well as operate and maintain the highway for 30 years. KMP is expected to be fully on board, following financial close, by 2018. Construction will begin later in 2018 and is expected to take less than five years to complete. Here are some details about KMP and their proposal. Raise the roadway profile, removing any contact with groundwater Three lanes in each direction remain open during construction Only two major mainline traffic switches Optimized ramp and closure phasing to reduce traveler impacts Complete construction one construction season ahead of CDOT’s schedule Northeast Transportation Connections (NETC) As part of CDOT’s effort to ensure and improve community and commuter access during construction, NETC currently has begun offering a free transportation program for those who live in the 80216 zip code. Programs include a free grocery shuttle, shuttles to free days at the zoo, museum, etc., and free monthly RTD passes for those who qualify. The second annual event transformed the dark shadowy I-70 viaduct into a vibrant urban gallery. “From a local artist perspective, it was such a great experience working alongside other artists to build a great sense of community. Each artist created something unique and hopefully the project will continue to bridge communities in North Denver,” said Pat Milbery, So-Gnar Creative Division. Estado del Proyecto El 24 de agosto, el equipo del Proyecto de la Central 70 anunció la selección de Kiewit Meridiam Partners (KMP) como el equipo favorecido para diseñar, construir y financiar la reconstrucción de la I-70 que atraviesa la parte central de Denver, así como para operar y mantener la autopista por un periodo de 30 años. Se espera que la KMP esté completamente abordo una vez que se haga el cierre de la parte financiera en el 2018. Northeast Transportation Connections (NETC) Como parte del esfuerzo del CDOT para asegurar y mejorar el acceso para la comunidad y los viajeros que van de su domicilio al trabajo durante la construcción, la NETC ha empezado en la actualidad a ofrecer un programa de trasporte gratuito para aquellos que viven en la zona con código postal 80216. Los servicios incluyen transporte gratuito al supermercado, servicio de transporte al zoológico durante los días gratuitos, al museo, etc., y pases mensuales gratuitos del RTD para aquellos que califiquen. El segundo evento anual transformó el viaducto oscuro y sombrío en una galería urbana vibrante. “De la perspectiva de un artista local, fue una experiencia maravillosa trabajar al lado de otros artistas para crear un gran sentimiento de comunidad. Cada artista creo algo único y espero que el proyecto continue conectando las comunidades al norte de Denver”, dijo Pat Milbery, de la division creativa de So-Gnar. Los murales estan ubicados sobre la 46th Avenida entre la York Street y la Brighton Boulevard.
