1. Executive Summary

The deliverable D6.4 is about implementing a website for our Boden Type Data Center (BTDC) project.

The objective is to have an easily accessible platform where our target audience, the stakeholders in

the data center industry can get information about our work.

The main challenge is to find a clear structure, where the reader may find both high-level and detailed

information easily. It is also important that the information shown on the website is coherent although

it is coming from different sources within the consortium, having different cultural backgrounds and

areas of expertise.

The website is available at www.bodentypedc.eu and will serve as the main communication channel

for the project as it has been defined in the communication plan. The main titles on the menu create

a framework that introduces the project prototype and invites donors to participate (One), contains

the basic ideas and objectives, the consortium members and their roles (About), leaves place for

sharing project information and results (Publications), gives instructions who is in charge of the

different work packages and how they can be reached (Contacts) and also provides updates and names

specific conferences where the project is presented or colleagues can be met (News & Events).

The website is platform agnostic, has been protected via SSL encryption and it also meets the

requirements of GDPR.

The website has been successfully created, it is publicly available and will serve the purpose so that

the objectives can be reached. The website provides such a structure that it can be filled with

information about the progress of the research work. Some new features or slight modifications may

occur during the project.

2. Introduction

The development in the data center industry is of interest for organizations on a global scale. The use

of a website as the main communication channel for the Boden Type DC project meets the

requirements of a non-limitative geographic and segment communication platform where the end

recipient of the communication is not always defined or known.

The project members are geographically spread around the European Union with a diversity in culture,

area of expertise, and other specific conditions related to the members´ prerequisites, while the

website serves as a coherent and unifying information and knowledge transferring platform internally

and externally.

An objective and a challenge at the same time was to implement a structure where navigation is easy

and all important information can be found for those that are interested in the project.

The objective of the website is that most stakeholders in the international data center industry will

become aware of the project and understand the research activity and the forthcoming results. This is

met by for example: Work Package leaders share via the website their new findings, interesting

activities within the project, news updates, event participations etc.

The target groups for the website: Project members and cooperative parties, local/regional

community, customers (end users), entrepreneurs, design and equipment vendor companies, research

communities, media companies, industry influencers etc.

The general data protection regulation (GDPR) demands are also met by the website since personal

data saving actions asks for consent and an integrity policy is at place in order to increase the

transparency.

3. The project website

The Boden Type DC (BTDC) project website was launched in May 2018 and is hosted by Binero, the

largest Swedish retailer of generic domains. The project website is registered under the address of

www.bodentypedc.eu with alternative website addresses www.bodentypedc.org and

www.bodentypedc.com. The two latter registrations are inactive but can be activated and linked if

needed. The website is protected via SSL encryption in order to safeguard the visitor’s personal

information and integrity. Email addresses are not clickable in order to avoid spamming issues.

Over the next years, all BTDC publications will be published on the project website.

The project website has been designed to answer key questions that external visitors to the website

are expected to have. These questions are, but not limited to:

- Describing the ideas, goals and purpose of the project.

- Describing the progress and results of the project

- Presenting the consortium and the work that will be performed.

The project website will also have the following functions:

- How to contact the consortium for general or specific queries.

- To serve the general public including press and media to collect materials and information

about the project and its progress.

- To provide information related to datacenter and energy efficiency events where consortium

members will participate.

- To provide information about becoming a donor, supporting the project

4. Conclusions

The website is in its current state technically functioning, publicly available and has the basic tools for

managing the tasks required to reach the objectives of the project as a global communication platform.

Future development ideas concerning the website are to add the possibility to direct calendar invites

to project members and stakeholders, attach live infographics that display major indicators,

information about the current research and scientific results. A comprehensive search engine

optimization strategy can potentially be implemented in order to increase and optimize the traffic flow

towards and within the website.
