Retail Merchandising - Product Master overview page and innovations

in the area of Listing

SAP S/4 HANA Retail for merchandise management is digital core for merchandise management

processes in the SAP S/4HANA Suite. In order to further innovate core Retail processes, we are

looking for customer input for the following ideas including feedback on concepts and UI mockups:

• Product Master Overview Page

The goal of a Product Master Overview Page is to gain a quick overview about the quality and

completeness of the products from a maintenance and lifecycle management perspective. The user

shall have the possibility to filter products by different criteria. The app shall allow a convenient way

to work on the missing product information like missing pictures or descriptions, missing reference

site data, missing purchasing info records or listing data. The user shall be able to configure which

quality-checks are relevant for his products. The app may also be used to provide an overview on the

lifecycle and status, e.g. whether there is still stock, season assignment…

• Innovations and simplifications in the area of Listing and master data management

One idea is to optionally decouple the listing from the creation of master data segments in order to

avoid unnecessary listing data, e.g. for online stores, for a click and collect scenario, or for franchise

stores. In some cases, the creation of master data segments may be carried out on the fly during

process execution (e.g. when a product which is not listed in a store is collected in the store in a click

and collect scenario). Furthermore, we’d like to discuss ideas to control listing processes on a more

granular level with different periods of time (e.g. periods for external ordering, POS supply,

replenishment, customer orders). Other ideas are easy-to-use options for a season-based listing, or a

more automated, rule-based listing. We also would like to validate ideas for a flexible listing

workbench with a SAP Fiori UI. Main target group for the customer feedback are business process

experts in the area of master data and assortment specialists, ideally with experience in IS-Retail. The

customer workshops shall primarily take place remotely with only a couple of hours effort for the

Business process expert. For the validation of UI mockups with end users, a customer visit may be

arranged.

Next Generation Just in Time Processing for Suppliers Reason for Project

Just in Time (JIT) processing is a common practice in manufacturing industries for efficient demand-

driven production and logistics across supply chains, especially in the automotive industry. There, the

configuration options for vehicles result in a high variance and number of vehicle components and

complex component assemblies used in vehicle assembly. The replenishment of these components

and component assemblies often is done Just in Sequence (JIS) in lot size of one and in sequence of

vehicle assembly, as a special variant of JIT processing. SAP provides already a well-established

solution for the JIT processing in SAP ERP and SAP S/4HANA for manufacturers and their suppliers.

With that project, we plan to take the first step for a next generation solution for the future JIT

(including JIS) processing for suppliers in SAP S/4HANA Cloud and On Premise, with a cloud first

approach. The emphasis on defining that next generation solution will be on simplification and

optimization, efficiency and automation, usability and extensibility. SAP S/4HANA is SAP’s next-

generation business suite that enables customers to orchestrate and optimize their daily business in

digital economy, accelerate operational and strategic decision-making, and simplify their processes –

whether used in the cloud or on premise.

Goal

•Describe the future business scenarios of JIT processing in a digital economy

•Define and describe the business users and roles involved in JIT processing for suppliers

•Design Fiori Apps for the business users involved in JIT processing for suppliers

Role of Customer

•Provide information on the future business processes with regards to JIT processing

•Support describing business roles for key and end users involved in JIT processing, their tasks,

activities and interactions

•Iterative feedback on design mock-ups for Fiori Apps based on the business roles described

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

•Individual interviews on business processes with IT and business experts (1-2 days per customer,

on-site where applicable, otherwise remote)

•Individual interviews with business users / end users on detailed tasks, activities and interactions

(approx. 2-4 hours per person, on-site where applicable, otherwise remote)

•Iterative feedback on design mock-ups of Fiori Apps (remote sessions, effort depending on the

number and complexity of apps to be discussed)

•Participation in regular status calls

Machine Learning and Advanced Analytics for Configurable Products

Reasons for this project

Manufacturers that produce Configure-To-Order(CTO) and Engineer-To-Order(ETO) products have a

unique set of business requirements related to analytics and search because of the nature of

configurable products. With this project we would like to work with customers to understand how

we can leverage Machine Learning and the SAP Cloud Platform (previously known as Hana Cloud

Platform) to deliver a flexible/agile platform for performing advanced analytics, Machine Learning

and search for configurable products. This project will focus on various business processes including

Configure Price Quote, Supply Chain Planning, Service, Manufacturing.

Goal

In this project we want to focus on the following:

•Identify and prioritize high value business challenges related to configurable products that can be

addresses using Machine Learning, Advanced Analytics and Natural Language Processing (NLP)

•Validate and prioritize machine learning use cases that have already been identified from other

customers and partners

•Identify business questions that users would like answer using configuration analytics

•Determine the data and data sources required for machine learning and advanced analytics

•Determine how users would like to evaluate and interpret the results of the analytics

Customer Profile

•This project will be most relevant for customers using configurable products (Variant Configurator

and/or IPC)

•Business and business process owners familiar with the business processes related to configurable

products (e.g. Configure Price Quote, Supply Chain Planning, Service, Manufacturing)

•Data Analysts and Data Scientists defining machine learning use cases or application

•Data Analysts building reports & queries for variant configuration data

•Partners working in the CPQ & Variant Configuration space

•Data scientists working in the CPQ & Variant Configuration space

Circular Economy: How does this trend affect your business?

Resource scarcity will become an increasing constraint on sustainable economic growth and viable

business operations within the planetary boundaries, especially since continuous efficiency gains in

linear value chains will not compensate for the overall demand of projected population of 9 billion

people. The Concept of Circular Economy (CE) is one potential solution and is recently receiving more

and more attention. As CE is a large multi-dimensional concept going across industries, line of

businesses, fostering new business models (e.g. sharing) etc., we would like to focus our research

towards your business activities related to reverse cycles with the Goal to optimize utilization of

materials, components and products and finally to avoid waste.

What are we looking for:

In our research we want to understand how the trend towards more “circularity” with activities like

“recover and recycle”, “material tracking”, “zero waste in production”, “waste equals food” etc. is

affecting your business processes and behaviors.

Format: We would like to initiate the discussion ideally with line of business representatives or

strategist with a 60 minute 1:1 call in order to understand the relevance of CE for your company and

to discuss potential next steps between your company and SAP.

Timeframe: Q1/Q2 2017

What we offer:

In a subsequent step and based on a common understanding on your activities, we would like to

•Establish a cross-industries forum for open discussion and out-of-the box thinking around CE

•Run potential co-innovation programs to drive SAP’s product and solution portfolio to better

support your businesses for both, level of engagement and formats can be defined based on interest.

Hydrocarbon Logistics Network

Target and Scope

The Hydrocarbon Logistics Network (HLN) is targeting all players in Oil & Gas downstream logistics. In

2017 SAP plans starting the delivery of a cloud based collaboration platform to enable supply chain

partners to exchange data and documents depending on the interaction requirements of shared

business processes. The platform allows companies to build their private network and run business

partner specific applications delivered by SAP and partners. The co-innovation projects seek

customers that support SAP in the definition of the platform services and application development.

Our current project topics for application development are highly collaborative business processes:

•Real time physical inventory capture and processing

•Spot trading of hydrocarbons at terminal level

•Carrier spot tendering Customer Involvement

•Present their needs and problems related to hydrocarbon logistics

•Suggest ideas to build powerful network applications for business partner collaboration

•Exchange their experiences with other participants and with SAP

•Participation in online sessions for guidance to product requirements and user interface

SAP Hybris Marketing for Banking

Reason for Project

Digital Customer Engagement is the major cornerstone for the future growth strategy of SAP banking

solutions. Following this strategy, the SAP industry banking will provide a solution for marketing

experts in a bank. For this, the existing banking specific content in SAP Hybris Marketing needs to

optimized/enhanced.

Goal

A marketing expert in a bank should be able to offer existing or potential banking customers the

product that best fits their needs by using SAP Hybris Marketing for Banking, for example, the best

loan product depending on customer-specific attributes. SAP Hybris Marketing for Banking will

support this via offer recommendation and next best action functionality.

Role of customer

We need customer contact to verify our existing concept for a banking specific enhancement model

for SAP Hybris Marketing based on our use case knowledge. In addition, we will get more input about

use cases on the customer side.

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

We plan to support each possibility for customer feedback (email, telephone conference or

workshop). Therefore, the effort for the participants can be different. We assume initially 1 to 2 days.

Digital Transformation of Capital Projects – facilitating collaboration

across business networks

Reason for Project

Digitization of the construction process transforms how capital projects are delivered. On average,

capital projects across all asset classes take 20% longer to finish than scheduled and are up to 80%

over budget. Given the projected global GDP growth, multi-trillion investments are required in

infrastructure and buildings between now and 2030 to avoid congestion, power outages, and lack of

access to safe water and roads, and to meet the growing demand for sustainable buildings. Driven by

the digital economy and Industry 4.0, agility and speed matter more than ever. Companies are

seeking new ways to design, build, and operate smart and connected facilities and infrastructure.

New technology trends in IoT would potentially allow construction machinery, equipment, materials,

structures, and even form work to “talk” to a central data platform that captures critical performance

parameters. This will foster process digitization, which means moving away from paper and toward

online, real-time sharing of information to ensure transparency and collaboration, timely progress

and risk assessment, quality control, and, eventually, better and more reliable outcomes.

Orchestrating the digital twin throughout the facility life cycle is becoming increasingly critical and

strategic. The Project Information Network will be a brand new network solution, offering the

ultimate platform to shape the future of digital construction that allows our customers to design and

build smarter, high-performance facilities and assets. The solution will be relevant for companies,

whether investing in capital assets (e.g. buildings, manufacturing plants, infrastructure) or are part of

the capital asset delivery cycle. The solution is planned based on the idea of an 'Integrated Project

Delivery Network'. This concept is meant to help companies involved in capital projects to timely

project delivery, avoid budget overruns, reduced project risk, and improve safety performance and

quality. With the solution, we plan to provide an environment that facilitates information exchange

(structured and unstructured content) across multiple companies and enable cross-company

processes. Besides the exchange of information, our vision is to facilitate the management of the

asset/facility information and project information within the design and build life cycle (digital twin in

design and build phase) within the network.

Goal

Assemble and validate use cases, scenarios to increase usability, relevance, and adoption of the

planned solution. This will influence our short-term and long-term development focus.

Role of Customer

You can participate either in web meetings or in-person workshops where we would like to gather

feedback from you about the concepts, mockups and prototypes that we present. Ideally, we would

like to engage with people who are involved in capital projects (e.g., project managers, site

managers, BIM managers or coordinators, engineers, project planners, subcontractors, etc.)

Business Configuration Framework on SAP Cloud Platform

Reason for Project

Business configuration deals with configuration of business processes and application data.

Functional requirements of customers and processes at customers are being modeled via the

software capabilities by means of configuration (e.g. countries and currencies are maintained to

enable financial transactions in these countries). The project shall provide a central service on SAP

Cloud Platform that can be consumed by other services and applications to manage their

configuration of business data and business processes.Besides the pure functionality there is also a

major user interface aspect: configuration data needs to be created and maintained. The user must

be guided properly through the complete configuration process.

Goal

The Business Configuration Service will also provide user interfaces to create and maintain

configuration data. We want to achieve a good and consistent user experience (UX) across all

different types of configuration screens. Our customers and partners could help us to validate our UI

concepts and improve user experience by providing us with their feedback.

Role of Customer

We are currently in the process of creating User Experience prototypes on how the user/system

interaction for future configuration activities, planning and tasks could look like. We would like to

validate these prototypes with our customers and partners and iterate the design on the feedback.

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

We plan to execute usability validations with the customers and partners and gather their feedback

on the UI prototypes. Customers or partners would work on UI prototypes to execute a configuration

task and then tell us about their experience. Current estimate of time investment per onsite

customer workshop is 1 day. Additional remote validation sessions are also possible and would

require approx. 2hrs per user. An initial preparation call would take about 1 hour.

Consent Management

Reason for Project

In May 2016, the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was enacted and will be in

effect as of May 25, 2018. For us at SAP this means that we, as a software provider and data

processor in the cloud, have to enable our customers to run their software and handle consent in

compliance with the new data privacy regulations. This includes obtaining and storing consent,

processing withdrawal of consent, and providing the user with an overview of consents they have

given.

Goal

Goal of this project is to provide (implement & run) a SaaS solution in the SAP Cloud based on cloud

foundry. The solution shall enable SAP applications to run software in accordance with the “General

Data Protection Regulation”.

Role of Customer

The project follows the outside-in approach and makes use of the design thinking methodology. So

the customers will provide us with their consent management use cases, give feedback to our ideas

and thus has the possibility to influence the solution according to their needs.

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

We plan several workshops to validate already prepared use cases with customers or get to know

new use cases. Furthermore, we'd like to gain feedback in calls / via mail from time to time.

Therefore, depending on the project phase the efforts for the participants will vary. During the

research phase the participants can spend several days with us (Design Thinking Workshops) whereas

in the validation phase the effort will decrease to phone calls / mail contact for e.g. gathering

feedback on new features. What is the estimated time that participants spend on your project? As

the GDPR will be in effect as of May 25th 2018, the participants can be part of our project until that

date.

Cloud solution. The Goal of this project is to understand which GTS scenarios are requested to be

integrated into the existing cloud processes today and in the future.

Goal

To get a clear understanding of the used cloud scenarios and and definition of the needed GTS

scenarios.

Role of Customer

Customer need an understanding of the already used cloud scenarios or of the scenarios planned to

be used in the future.

Demand Driven Replenishment with S/4 HANA

Reason for Project

Traditional planning methods plan for individual requirements – either firm demand or forecast

demand. There is a tight coupling of demand along all levels of a BOM. This causes distortion if any

variability occurs in the BOM chain resulting in issues such as Low Service Levels, Delays, Lost Sales,

etc. Hence, there is a need for an enhanced planning technique. Demand Driven Replenishment

(DDR) is a planning procedure for materials based on the principles of Demand Driven Planning. DDR

will always plan and replenish only for real demand and will permanently optimize the process flow.

DDR will suggest users to maintain optimum levels of stock for materials sufficient enough to cater

planned and unplanned demand and also decouple materials in a BOM there by reducing issues

related disruption and variability. The reason for the project is to discuss the DDR planning methods

with customers and partners, understand the needs and pain points of Production Planners.

Goal

At end of the project, we'd like to have the following information

•Hold discussions with Customers about SAP's solution approach for Demand Driven Replenishment.

Receive customer feedback and deliver a solution for SAP Manufacturing Cloud.

•Understand the following personas - Production Planner, Materials Planner

•Understand their needs & pain points

•Validate our Designs with Customers & Partners.

Role of Customer

Customer Discussions, User Research and Requirements for Demand Driven Replenishment would be

major contribution from customer. We will also plan for for UX Validation sessions with the

Customer.

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

Workshops and User Research to understand business processes and user needs & pain points - 4

days. Regular meeting (Monthly once) to discuss the use cases, UX validation & discuss progress

Modelling causal based strategic scenarios

Reason for project

Most Strategy Managers struggle to dynamically adapt their strategy to volatile environments,

changing market conditions and internal changes:

•Strategy needs to be dynamic evolving with constantly changing market conditions

•Hard to identify the right KPIs to execute, benchmark and monitor its strategy

•Complex and long process to setup and maintain dedicated KPI reporting

•Hard to model causalities of value drivers and measure their impact in scenarios

•Strategy needs to be clearly communicated & shared with employees & stakeholders

In a world of Big Data, Real-time and Digitalization most strategies are still paper-based or on

PowerPoint and Excel and we are aiming to change that.

Goal

Our Goal of this Co-innovation:

•Explore problem space: of Strategy Managers and Corporate Controllers in establishing a corporate

strategy and continuously communicating it

•Define value proposition: based on finding solutions for each problem space with the help of

modelling e.g. KPIs, dashboards and causal maps, modelling strategic scenarios and visualization and

communication

•Deliver innovative product: considering your feedbacks and Inputs

Role of Customer

Participants (mostly Strategy Managers and Controllers) would be familiarized with the existing ideas

and planned innovations during the collaboration:

•Initial workshops and interviews to derive the problem space

•Discuss alternative value adding propositions and be part of the product

•Regular update calls for new requirements and priority of features

•Attend user acceptance testing and give Feedback Working Model

•Onsite workshops at customer’s site or at SAP

•Regular update calls & virtual Meetings

Analytics for Treasury and Risk Management

Reason for Project

Analytic reports, especially management reporting for Treasury and Risk Management, are required

by customers during implementing SAP's Treasury and Risk Management solution. With the shipment

of SAP S/4 HANA, SAP introduced the Fiori as the new technology to build reporting, which could

bring better user experience to our customers. Therefore, we'd like to start this project to build some

analytic reporting based on the Fiori technology. We are currently defining the scope of analytic

reporting, and we want to invite customer to validate the requirements. Therefore, in this phase, the

feedback from customer is really important for us.

Goal

The objective of our project is to build analytic reporting based on new Fiori technology for Treasury

and Risk Management area, and provide the analytic capabilities regarding to Foreign Exchange Risk

Management, Debt and Investment Management of treasury.

Validation and Substitution

Reason for project

Validations are a logic extending the standard system checks to determine whether a posting is

allowed or not. The normal logic is to check that e.g. master data for an account or cost center exist

before posting. One common validation is a check whether an allocation posting will cross a company

boundary and thus have tax implications. In this case, a customer might write a validation rule to

block such an intercompany posting. Substitutions go further and replace one element of the posting

following a user defined logic. Purchase orders might have been created for cost centers that are

now closed. A substitution can be used to route invoices coming in under the old cost center to the

new cost center. Substitutions are common in profit center accounting where customers choose to

implement a different derivation logic for their profit centers from that in the standard system.

Substitution is using for intercompany posting to ensure trading partner could be recorded correctly

for inter-customer/vendor. It also could be used for batch jobs and postings, such as Foreign

Currency Valuation.

Substitutions and Validations are also adopted widely in some industries, such as update Retail Store

number according to receipts of POS machine, and insurance, banking industry etc.

Goal

The aim of this project is to involve customers at an early stage so that we can understand the real

valid requirements and use cases of Validations and Substitutions when doing posting.

Role of Customer

Consolidation Accountant, AP/AR Accountant, Financial Accountant, Management Accountant

Cost Flow Analysis

Reason for project

Most SAP ERP users believe the allocation process to be a black box. This results from complex

organizational structures, dynamic organizational boundaries and a high number of allocation cycles

and segments. Consequently, today's organizations struggle to understand their allocation process

and are even afraid of realigning or adjusting it. This results in a lot of additional work for controllers

(because of complex documentations, difficulty of changes and required expert knowledge) and in a

decreasing willingness to take over responsibility for the results of cost center allocations on the

management side. Today's leaders have trouble to answer simple questions concerning the cost

origin of their area, like: How did this cost get allocated to my area and how does it compare to my

peers? How do amounts flow across the chain of cycles and segments? We want to help answering

these questions and giving organizations the power to easily navigate and comprehend their own

cost model.

Goals

Explore problem space: Achieve a deep understanding of the problem space of involved controllers

and examine potential visualizations and filters. Define the value proposition: for a visualization,

which enables the user to navigate easily through the complex allocation structure to comprehend,

adjust or realign the company's cost flows. Deliver innovative product: that increases the

transparency of your corporate allocations in an easy manner.

Role of Customer

Group Controller

•Monitor cost accounting for the corporation or a legal entity

•Set-up, maintain and adjust allocation cycles within the overhead management (CO-OM) and

Profitability Analysis (CO-PA)

•Identify anomalies in the costing structure or the profitability of regions/products/channels

•Reports to the senior management/CFO Management Controller

•Monitor and account for several cost centers within a department/plant

•Responsible for reducing costs within the department - identify main cost drivers within the

department

•Harmonize and negotiate continuously with group controlling concerning cost management &

profitability

•Report to local Managers

SAP Web IDE Annotation Modeler

Reason for Project

Web IDE Annotation Modeler is a valuable tool for building model-based apps in the cloud as it

enables editing OData annotations based on vocabularies in a form-based editor. It enables users to

create, edit and overwrite annotations from different sources and to store them locally in a Web IDE

project. As a next step, we would like to enhance it with new functionalities such as supporting

annotations from multiple vocabularies or providing basic integration with the backend. The Goal is

to get customer feedback on the concepts, to validate the implementation and to identify room for

improvement.

Role of Customer

Fiori developer, developer of model-based App, SAP consultant

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

Responsibility Management Reason for Project Summary:

- Determine responsible business users in a work organization for a particular process with simple

steps .

Abstract

Target Audience:

- All current and promising S/4HANA Cloud customers. For any customer and organization it is

essential to manage responsibilities (incl. authorizations) for various contexts to define and get the

right contact to address (follow-up) tasks and activities. The Organizational Structure is in many

contexts the prerequisite for the operational and process-oriented structure. The organizational units

are used within multiple contexts like department-line, business units, Project-Teams, Working-

Teams etc. The Organizational Management is one important aspect and pretty much used at SAP

customers (productive 2015: ~22.000) to define such units. This SAP Organizational structure defines

usually the Line-Organization with Department-Team-Members and responsible Manager. Because

of the flexible hierarchy the responsibility determination is used to traverse bottom up to find the

responsible person (Manager) for people or organizational Units. Units from Enterprise Structure are

related to this Organizational Units to define teams and managers of team’s e.g. Sales Organization,

Purchasing Organization, Cost Center, CRM Organization etc. The advantage of this approach is the

integration aspect. Any Employee has an organizational assignment and therefore the entire

workforce is structured within the organizational model and up-to-date in case of any personnel

changes e.g. hire, relocation, termination etc. The disadvantage is the aligned setup and flexible

adaptation of the organizational model because of the centralized maintenance. This approach works

well for ‘department’-like use cases where teams and managers are organized in that way. Other

kind of organizing the workforce and responsibility along tasks, work, location, production line etc.

would be cumbersome. In due course the expectation from process or system is also to propose

suggestions for responsibles based on previous selections and search patterns.

Goal

Requirement is to define the responsibilities along the working structure instead of the reporting

line. This working structure is defined via Tasks, Activities, Workplaces, Locations, Production lines or

other kind of Enterprise Structure.

Role of Customer

•Regular update calls for requirements and new Features

•Attend Sprint review meetings whenever possible or once for a major release update.

•Attend User Acceptance Testing for new applications.

•Validate PoCs

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

An interactive format is planned: Virtual workshops between Customer/Partner and SAP, where SAP

will present the functional level of S/4HANA Responsibility management and show how

responsibilities can be easily made available in S/4HANA Cloud. Customers and partners will validate

the solution and discuss whether it is functionally compliant to their business scenarios. For special

cases, we plan to offer visits of SAP experts at customer site for detailed discussions, prototype

validations and feedback. The engagement would likely mean 3-4 calls, 1:1 virtual sessions and

optionally a workshop at the customer site.

Data Management in S/4HANA Cloud

Reason for project

Data Management in the Cloud is a diverse and complex topic: data is stored in different places and

formats, reaching from legacy data in on premise to new kinds of data streaming in from e.g. social

media. We want to cut down complexity and focus on the right parts to offer new services.

Goal

We want to get first hand customer experience on challenges they are currently facing and customer

expectations and ideas on how to gain new insights and turn existing data assets into value.

Role of Customer

Customers can discuss their challenges and ideas with us, share additional insight and thus influence

further development for Data Management. Participants should have knowledge on how data assets

are currently distributed and used in their company and have ideas on what data they would like to

leverage further.

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

Participating customers will be involved in the following activities with at least one or two data

scientists/data managers:

1.Kick-off call to introduce the topic to the participants (60 minutes).

2.Follow-on bi-weekly calls of one hour, with a preparation time of 1 to 2 hours for each participating

customer.

3.Monthly 1 discussion with all participating customers.

S/4HANA User Experience for MDM Business Rule Mining and

Business Rule Lifecycle

In the master data management domain we intend to strengthen our master data quality offerings.

Additionally, to our central governance offering we want to offer tools for monitoring and improving

master data quality and consistency of the governed master data. These tools are usually based on

defined business rules which describe the dependency and expected consistency. Therefore, we

want to understand in detail how these business rules are identified, aligned, implemented and last

but not least phased out. Furthermore, we would like to know the required complexity of relevant

business rules, how they are used and which follow-up activities are typically triggered. With the

customers joining this initiative we want to conduct workshops and interviews to get a better

understanding of what a user needs for a typical processe around business rule management and for

the business rule lifecycle as a vital part of a passive governance solution. As a result, we expect

validated use-cases and mock-ups. We would like to conduct end user interviews, an initial workshop

and follow-up telcos Furthermore we would like to get feedback from stakeholders on the underlying

business case. Also, participating customers would help us in the following manner:

•Provide business use cases and details on the management of business rules

•Involve in Design Thinking sessions to work on personas and user stories.

•Validate UI mock ups and give early feedback.

•Discuss new ideas, requirements and validate UI designs before they are taken up for development.

Federated Master Data Management & Enrichment with Open Data

Reason for Project

The global economy is beginning to operate truly in real time, with constant streams of data showing

where consumers are shopping, ships are travelling, digital transformation of business, economy

statistics, energy, money etc. Master Data Management (MDM) has been evolving from older

approaches that take too long to make an impact on the organization, to an agile multidimensional

knowledge, context and insight related to relevant entities. Today master data extend beyond

customer and products to include domains such as asset, thing, location, supplier, finance, personal

data, etc. More and more businesses are willing to enrich master data from open data (like Census,

data.gov, World bank, OECD…etc) to generate 360 view of an entity. Every business can generate

business value of 1 million+ publicly available datasets. Open data to help you exploit gaps across

markets and identify business, opportunities, create new products, and services and develop new

businesses. We are looking to work with customers that aspire to reap the rewards of open data

economy and stay step ahead of competition.

Goal

We will like to understand from our customers their use cases on changing needs of managing and

enriching master data. Respectively, we are aspiring to connect with customers with prospective on

following topics:

•Master data challenges / requirements with connected supply chain (including integration

challenges in SRM systems and beyond) with Internet of Things (IOT) applications.

•Requirements on master data micro services that can enrich master data with Open Datasets to

support ERP business process in SAP S/4HANA.

•How are the needs of MDM different in cloud vs on premise?

Role of Customer

We will also look to gather your feedback on currently developed use cases and organize design

thinking sessions to capture your feedback. We are looking to connect with people with following

background:

•Business people: sponsoring MDM initiatives and recognize need to re-define existing business

processes.

•IT people: managing or involved in current or future MDM projects.

•Analysts: who are consuming master data and see the need to enrich it with relevant open data

datasets

Machine Learning and predictive analytics in SAP S/4HANA Inventory

Management

With machine learning and predictive analytics in SAP S/4HANA we are aiming to automatically

detect patterns of recurrent behaviors based on historical data and apply these to support new

business decisions. In the area of inventory management we identified two major use cases, that will

be evaluated and and potentially be included in a future product:

1.Prediction based proposal for the stock in transit process identifying items where planned and

predicted delivery date show a significant deviation

2.Prediction based proposal of materials for physical inventory counting

We are interested in contacting customers or partners who would like to provide feedback on our

initial ideas, their own specific business processes, and who would be willing to share some data with

us in order to train and verify prediction models. We are also interested in customers sharing their

own ideas how machine learning or predictive analytics can be applied in the area of inventory

management.

Reason for the Project

Evaluate SAP Financial Planning & Analysis and SuccessFactors Analytics with SAP Digital Boardroom

Goal

Facilitate the concept development phase for the build of the first set of SAP S/4HANA Finance and

SFSF (SAP SuccessFactors) analytics using SAP Digital Boardroom and SAP BusinessObject Cloud (BOC)

Reports.

Goal is to have a clear definition of scenarios needed for building the analytics solution. The business

case will also validate deployment options and integrations requirements for different scenarios.

Role of Customer SAP want to understand SAP S/4HANA Finance analytics use cases being in use at

customers who are already using SAP S/4HANA or SFSF (SAP SuccessFactors) / OWFP (Operational

Workforce Planning). Together with the customer inputs, this exercise will provide a solid ground for

SAP's planning of analytics using SAP BusinessObject Cloud / SAP Digital Boardroom and SFSF

Embedded Analytics. What are the most critical and prioritized features customers would like to have

in the SAP BusinessObject Cloud / SAP Digital Boardroom solution Gain early insights into potential

later products through evaluation of early prototypes during concept development phase before

they are implemented

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

We will offer two level of Engagement:

Level 1 - Customer visit for identification of 2-3 Finance analytics use cases and discussion

(Approximately 1-2 days)

Building Fiori OVPs (Overview Pages) for the different business

processes in SAP S/4HANA

Reason for Project

Fiori Overview pages deliver a seamless, harmonized consumer grade experience across SAP business

users while extending the solution per business needs. In the context of SAP S/4HANA, we are

designing overview pages for the different roles in the SAP S/4HANA processes to help the end users

perform their tasks in a better way. In this project, we would like to procure feedback directly from

the customers in designing these Fiori OVPs for the different business roles. We are currently

designing the OVPs for end users from Finance (AR/AP clerk, Finance controller, Cash manager,

Interest Risk manager), Sales & Distribution (Sales Manager), Produce (Shipping specialist, Receiving

Specialist, Inventory Manager, Warehouse clerk, Plant Manager) etc.

Goal

A successful validation of at least some of the Fiori Overview pages from a few customers. This would

help build customer focused Fiori Overview pages in the S/4HANA world.

Role of Customer

Periodical calls to provide feedback on the OVP designs for the different end user roles. Hands-

on/brainstorming for the workshop that would be scheduled later in the year with regard to the OVP

designs for the end users.

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

About 1-2hrs a month (a bi-weekly or a monthly meeting for 30min-1hr). Optionally a 1 day

workshop twice a year. We are currently working for the upcoming S/4HANA cloud editions

scheduled quarterly from Q4 2017.

My Sales Overview

Customer Service Dashboard

For a Customer Service Representative (Internal Sales Representative), no business day is ever the

same. On any given day, they can have dozens of different issues competing for their attention. It’s

crucial to have all the relevant data at hand to make the right decisions quickly. We have created a

Fiori dashboard called My Sales Overview that is planned to provide Customer Service

Representatives with everything they need in one place, including sales order data, performance

figures and quick actions. This is planned to improve reaction time and allow representatives to act

on the most important issues first.

We plan for the dashboard to give a quick overview of the following data:

•Monitor and resolve sales order fulfillment issues

•Customer returns

•Blocked credit memo requests

•Sales quotation pipeline

•Incoming sales order analytical data

•Sales quotations

•Sales orders

•Customer details

•Etc.

Our plan is for My Sales Overview to be used as a specialized launchpad designed to reach all

customer service oriented Fiori apps, such as for creating sales orders, quotes, etc.

With the data provided, the user could make the right choices as to which issues are most important

and need to be addressed first. This could be the Customer Service Representative’s home page.

Goal

To make the dashboard as useful as possible. To accomplish this, we need to interact with end users

so we will know the right data and capabilities to include in the dashboard, to make the users' work

fast and effective. Interaction Type Depending on your level of comfort and available time, we offer

these types of interaction: 1.A regular weekly survey requiring only 15 minutes of an end-user's time,

OR2.Observe and discuss with end-users during their daily work, ideally at the end user’s office.

During this time we could show what we have developed so far and solicit feedback.

Are you a professional service company and interested in implementing SAP S/4HANA Professional

service cloud solution, our next generation professional service automation processes? You are

focused on cloud solutions and SaaS offerings? And you would like to give feedback?

Within a standard public cloud (SaaS) solution, the core processes need to be complete, standardized

and preconfigured, and fit the customers’ business requirements. Therefore, we would like to

validate and review our planned innovations for the S/4HANA professional service cloud solution. We

are looking to get feedback on certain roadmap topics like service delivery location, multi entity

projects, revenue allocation, financial reporting, billing enhancements, generic authorization and role

concept. These topics are subject to change based on relevance for the standard Professional service

industry cloud solution.

Intercompany transactions elimination in S/4HANA

Group companies always suffer from the time consuming, labor intensive work on inter-company

transactions elimination, which is a key task for group consolidation. For companies who already be

able to have most subsidiaries inter-company transaction accounting documents in SAP S/4 HANA, a

solution to be able to view the inter-company transaction’s balance and detail from paired partners

and to directly post the elimination will help customers significantly shorten the consolidation cycle

time.

Goal

This project is to invite customers for feedback on their needs in inter-company transactions

elimination solution.

Role of Customer

The target customer’s users should work in the group accounting department and haveinter-

company transaction reconciliation and elimination business background.

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

The intended engagement activities are periodic remote requirements roll-in and solution design

feedback sessions, customer visits would be very helpful if possible.

S/4HANA Cloud Subscription and Usage-Based Billing & Accounting

Reason for Project

We plan an additional business scenario for ""Subscription and Usage-Based Billing and Accounting""

to be part of the S/4HANA Cloud Solution. First delivery should be by end of 2017. Idea is to enhance

the portfolio of the S/4HANA Cloud Edition for companies who are service industry related and are

covering B2C processes. The solution will based on the well adopted solution of Contract Accounting

(FI-CA) and Convergent Invoicing (CI), that is already part of the S/4HANA OnPremise solution for

many industry solutions such as Telecommunication, Retail, Transportation, Utilities, Insurance, or

Public Sector. For this we are looking for co-innovation partners for accompanying our cloud journey.

The business scenario shall support subscription and used-based services provided to the consumers.

The payment of the services will be upfront per credit card or online payment systems. The solution

will be extended over time with feature such as partner settlement, authorized payment collection

and customer initiated payments.

Goal

Goal is receiving customer feedback for this planned business scenario to provide a solution that will

meet the customer needs in the cloud.

Role of Customer

We are looking for review partners. May be one or more of the customers could be pilot over time,

but this is not mandatory for us.

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

We plan a phase of 6 months, having per month one to two days invest for reviews, workshops, may

their service in order to harness the true business value from IoT. This project intents to define the

scenarios and use case to bring IoT and Cloud for Service closer together.

Goal

Based on collaboration with customers, we would like to define the C4C-IOT integration scenarios

and use cases, and have defined a development backlog for both the C4C and IOT development

teams. At the end of the project, we need to have defined an executable strategy

Role of Customer

Customers are required to help us define the integration use cases and validate the Scenarios

Engagement Center on Hybris as a Service Cloud platform. It will focus on B2C scenarios and end-

customer service/sales engagements. It will follow new cloud development paradigms and will unify

modern channels and technologies:

•Engagement with the customer using audio/video communication and screen sharing based on

WebRTC, enabling new kind of customer touch points and response speed

•Engagement with the customer through social networks such as Facebook or Twitter

•Provide an integrated communications backbone for audio/video communication capabilities in the

cloud. This can reduce the upfront investments that would be required for integrating call center and

communication backbone in a typical on-premise deployment.

Provide anonymous/identified unassisted-to-assisted web commerce to service features unifying

today's desperate (separate) customer journey touch points into one engagement flow vision.

Role of the customer

We have finished the first version of implementation, and we would like to:

•Get feedback on the available scope and functionality and the ideas to enhance the product

•Discuss scenarios we plan to support in the solution in future releases

•Get feedback on envisioned user interfaces and interaction models

•Get a sense for the customer-relevancy for next-gen communication channels like social messenger

(e.g. WhatsApp) in modern B2C CS Organizations

•Identify the first customers for the solution

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

We plan an interactive format:2-hour virtual workshop between customer/partner and SAP (1:1)

every 4 to 6 weeks. Multiple participants per company are welcome.

After the initial call, we can as well offer onsite workshops for further, detailed 1:1 discussion

(dependent on geographical location and some prerequisites).

SAP CRM Service Manager

Reason for project

SAP CRM Service Manager is using the SAP Mobile Platform and specifically SYCLO Agentry

framework. We have recently released version 4.4 in November 2016. We have around 150+

customers to date but very few have asked about version 4.4. We want to put the word out there

and acquire new customers. Also, this year we will be releasing a new version of the mobile Service

Manager app on the SAP Cloud Platform using HCP Mobile Services. We want to see if any new

customers are willing to onboard with us in the first version of the app.

Goal

Add net new customers for SAP CRM Service Manager 4.4 and also get some customers who are

interested in the new version of the app on the SAP Cloud Platform using the HCP Mobile services.

Role of Customer

Customers can give us early feedback with the minimal viable product which they would like to see

for the new app on HCP.

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

We are planning to involve with the customers every 6 weeks where we will present what we have

achieved.

C4C Bots

Reason for Project

Conversational interface has been long aspiration of human computer interactions. Users have to

learn to use Graphical User Interface (GUI) to interact with computer, thus adding the natural barrier

to these interactions. However with latest advancement in Natural Language Processing and Artificial

Intelligence, users can interact in more intuitive, efficient way with no learning and no barriers -

through Conversational Bots. Bots enables user to interact with application in a natural language Eg:

Technician might ask " What are my assignments for today". Bots facilitates intelligent dialogs

between people and systems. This project is about validating business applications of conversational

Bots; specifically in the context of Customer Support processes.

Goal

Bots validated and ready for mass roll-out. Looking for validating in customer context; specially in

Customer Service Bots. Would like this validated with 3-5 customers.

Role of Customer

Have customer try Pilot Bots in day-in-life scenarios. For each customer, prefer to have 3 participants

for 3 distinct scenarios - 1. Technician 2. End User3. Agent.

Have customer try Bots first time and share feedback

Product team to incorporate feedback and update Bots

Customers to try updated Bots again and share Feedback

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

Gamification of SAP Hybris Cloud for Customer

Reason for Project

CRM Gamification has caught the fancy of many businesses because of its ability to improve

Employee Engagement and Collaboration, Data Quality & Transparency and the Overall Revenues.

There are many examples of how companies have increased their businesses manifolds using these

techniques. With an innovative Gamification Engine already in place, it’s time that we at SAP give

more power to our clients by bringing them this capability.

Goal of the Project

The Gamification Service is provided by SAP HANA Cloud Platform. The service includes an online

development and administration environment (gamification workbench) for easy implementation of

gamification concepts, covering time constraints, complex nested missions and collaborative games.

The service could be integrated with the SAP Hybris Cloud for Customer in order to design games

based on different sales & service elements to encourage desirable employee behavior. We already

have a fully functional prototype integrated with a live system to be able to demonstrate the

gamification service in SAP Hybris Cloud for Customer. We have also come up with a set of use cases

for sales and service that we want to discuss with the customers. The co-innovation will focus in

particular on understanding and implementing selected (3-5) use cases. Based on this we want to go

deeper on how we can make the gamification service more flexible as well as more relevant.

Role of Customer

We intend to involve people with different profiles in this exercise. From the people in higher

management to the sales manager to the sales & service reps to get insights on how gamification can

be used to make them more productive. The users are required to –

1.Validate and help in prioritizing the use cases and testing them in the business context - how do

they use or intend to use gamification in their business; what are their end objectives (compliance,

employee engagement or boost revenues)

2.Provide feedback on the preferred user experience and features in terms of creating rules for

awarding points or badges, analyzing results, etc. in order to draw maximum benefit with minimum

effort.

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

The amount of effort will vary with each customer; on an average one is expected to spend ~ 4 - 5

hours per month. Planned activities would include - initial call for introduction, interviews, status

update calls, remote or on site workshops, test implementations, project close call amongst other

things.

Integration: Automatic and Massive Hiring

Reason for the Project

In many industries (retail, transportation, IT, etc.) a significant hiring through the year is a typical

scenario. This high-volume hiring takes away HR resources from their strategic tasks. By gathering &

analyzing customer hiring processes we will look for solution to optimize those processes by

enhancing SuccessFactors Onboarding and Employee Central.

Goal

Minimize HR operational tasks related to high-volume hiring.

Customer Role

1.Provide overview of customer hiring process, review consolidated requirements, and provide

feedback on proposed solution

Planned activities

2.Initial requirement gathering during a full day workshop at customer site (alternatively, we can

offer 2-hours calls). Monthly call to review collected requirements and proposed solution.

SuccessFactors Integration: "Integration Center" and "Integration of

Employee Central with NGA Payroll Exchange" Reason for Project

In today’s Integration market, one finds majority of the use cases are simple integrations, requiring

basic HR knowledge. Integration Center tool targets exactly that sector of non-technical users. This

tool enables ‘Citizen Integrators’ to build simple integrations quickly and with shortest learning

curve. Integration Center not only results in reducing implementation project cost for customers, but

it also came with the ancillary benefits to SuccessFactors with lower customer support costs and

lower load on integration cloud infrastructure. It’s a simple but strong tool, and as it grows stronger

with each release, we want to reach out to the rich set of customers to collect feedback from them

on recent deliveries and also identify areas of improvements / new enhancements

We provide integration between Employee Central and NGA Payroll Exchange. Any changes to the

Employee master data is sent to NGA Payroll Exchange in a customized XML called Business object

document (BOD). The integration involves complex mapping of data between the two systems. With

this project, we want to understand if customers have any feedback for improvements.

Goal

•Identify areas of difficulty in using Integration Center

•Understand the usage of new features delivered for Integration Center

•Simplify usage of Integration Center

•Identify new features required on Integration Center

•Identify areas of improvement for Integration of SuccessFactors Employee Central and NGA Payroll

Exchange

Role of Customer

•Share their current Integration and the respective use cases on Integration Center

•Provide feedback on the Integration Center tool ( Ex: Ease of use, performance, feature coverage,

monitoring, maintenance)

•Provide details of missing features or areas of improvements for both Integration Center and NGA

Integration

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

•Participate in regular bi-weekly meetings ( 1 hour per meeting)

•Participate in workshop for providing the feedback and closer interactions ( 2 days)

Mobile Apps for Employee Central Time & Attendance

Reason for Project

In today’s business environment, high employee engagement has a positive impact on business

performance – it increases profitability, productivity and safety, and it decreases turnover and

absenteeism. Companies that take advantage of the immediacy and ubiquity of mobility can bridge

this critical engagement gap and, as a result, enjoy significant competitive advantage. With SAP

SuccessFactors Mobile, customers can extend their employees’ HR experience simply by turning on

mobile access for your organization. Mobile apps for Time Management are in high demand because

they increase efficiency, anytime/anywhere access, and better user experience for high frequency

routine tasks such as filling out a timesheet. For SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, we have

delivered Mobile Timesheet, Time Off, and Timesheet/Time Off Approval features both on iOS and

Android. We are planning to further enhance these and potentially develop additional time related

features. In this project, we are looking for feedback on the existing Time capabilities, planned

enhancements, and completely new features.

Goal

•Provide feedback on existing features for Mobile Timesheet, Mobile Time Off, and Mobile Approvals

for Timesheet/Time Off (both on iOS and Android)

•Define and describe requirements for additional features for time recording and absence

management

•Define and describe new features for Mobile Time Management for the Employee, Manager, and

Administrator role

Role of Customer

•Provide information on the mobile processes in the area of Time Management

•Support describing business roles for key and end users involved in Time Management

•Iterative feedback on screen mock-ups for mobile apps

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

•Individual interviews with end users (employees, managers, administrators - approx. 1-2 hours per

person, on-site where applicable, otherwise remote)

•Iterative feedback on screen mock-ups (remote sessions)

•Participation in regular status calls

•Participation in workshop with multiple customers (location to be determined)

SAP SuccessFactors' User Assistance Team--customer feedback for

documentation

Target Audience

SAP SuccessFactors' Admins and users.

Reason for Project

For the SAP SuccessFactors' User Assistance (UA) Team to improve the users' experience and

understand how Admins and customers are using SAP SuccessFactors' Release Information Details,

the help portal, and other documentation.

Goal

To get a clear understanding of how the Admin and customers find information. Are customers able

to find information they need? What are their pain points? What works and doesn't work for them?

Role of Customer

Customers will be asked for a few hours of their time so the UA team can hear about customers'

experiences and gain empathy on customers' ""pain points"". The UA team will provide customers

with a brief survey to narrow the focus of an in-person discussion. This survey will help the UA team

target areas identified by customers for an hour-long discussion with the Goal of hearing more

details about the customers' experiences and feedback for improvements. How are customers

accessing certain pages? The UA team wants to see how customers are using SuccessFactors

documentation and customer communication.

Understand the Offboarding process

The Offboarding process within the SuccessFactors suite has electronic signing of forms, notifications

and automating check lists for the users. Today’s offboarding process needs to be more engaging and

productive. Allowing the employee to leave with dignity and respect. With today’s transient

workforce, you never know when the same employee may return as a new hire. We want to create

an innovative offboarding process that cares for the employee as they depart and sets them up to

feel like they are welcomed back should the opportunity arise.

There are two phases to the project. First will include focus group interviews. Areas of conversation

will include unique challenges your business faces in the termination process today and the overall

perception of the importance of staying connected with alumni. Second, participants will be asked to

review and possibly hands-on user test the prototype interfaces.

Integration of Key User Translation Tool utilizing SAP Translation Hub

Project Description

The tool provision of non-SAP languages to provide additional value-add / services to customers. It

also supports the context of “subsidiary” scenario for companies (e.g. sales-focused subsidiary with

limited functional scope and language skills of employees). Through this project we would also

consider to enhance the tool with Translation hub services and new features. The Key User

Translation Tool which is available in a beta version only at present allows SAP BusinessByDesign

(ByD) customers to:

•Translate ByD Work Centers such as Purchase Requests and Orders, Sales Orders, Supplier Invoice

etc. into languages that are not supported by SAP.

•Adaptation on distinct texts so that they fit into the customer domain industry expertise and

terminology.

•Text-pool creation per target language via resolution of UI elements connected to a work Center,

adapt not only static UI texts, such as Work Centers and Views, but also application-specific texts

such as code values (value help, e.g. payment methods, currencies, tax codes etc); Message texts or

Analytical report texts

•Translations / Text Adaptations may be created by the following methods

◦On-line adaptation in tool UI

◦Off-line processing / translation of texts via MS Excel-based export (import feature)

◦On-line text proposal retrieval from SAP Translation Hub (contractual framing conditions to be

defined)

Project Goal:

Collect Customer feedback on the newly developed tool and its usability; input on how we can

improve upon it.

Role of Customer:

We would like involve the participants to actively use the Key User Translation Tool. We could

achieve this by:

◦One on-site Workshop with the Business Users/Key users.

◦Calls with the Business Users/Key users to understand their needs/requirements.

◦Virtual follow-up calls to clarify questions and get feedback on our ideas

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants:

We look forward to half a day workshop with the customers who use our tool or are interested in

using the tool. We would like to observe if our tool is understandable and then collect feedback.

Insights to Actions using SAP Business Objects Mobile Analytics

Reason for Project

SAP Business Objects mobile is the application to mobilize your analytics reports. We are looking at

possibilities to integrate into other SAP applications to drive insights on the data generated. For

Example from SAP REX (SAP Retail Execution Mobile Application) we can open the document in SAP

Business Objects Mobile Application directly to currently open customer or territory. In same way we

would also like to open documents in SAP REX Apps from SAP Business Objects Mobile Application

directly as per currently open documents Parameters like customer or territory. With this project we

would like to know from various customers across all industries about use cases and collaborate with

them to build great SAP Business Objects Mobile Apps.

Goal

At the end of this project we should be able to come up the blueprint of how the we can integrate

SAP Business Objects mobile application into other SAP applications to drive insights on the data

generated.

Role of Customer

Participating customers and partners would help us in the following manner.

•Provide business use cases and details on the Mobile Devices how customer are using SAP Business

Objects Mobile Application and what kind Action they are taking from Insights.

•Possibility of other SAP Mobile App to take action from SAP Business Objects Mobile Apps.

•Discuss new ideas, requirements and validate designs before they are taken up for development.

•Validate Ux mock ups and get early feedback.

•Involve in Design Thinking sessions to work on personas and user stories.

We would like to engage with customers in both onsite and offsite model. We will engage with

customers over tele-conference/ video conference to collect requirements and use cases. Customers

can also provide new ideas and improvements to existing offering. We would like to meet the

customers in person and have a conference with them to validate the designs and conduct design

thinking sessions.

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

During the requirement gathering and use case definition phase, we would like to have a 1-2 hour

call per Month. We would like the customers to review the use cases once they are defined and

Asset Performance and Strategy Management

Introduction Maintenance strategy, maintenance plans and associated task list are core to SAP

preventive maintenance offering. Effective maintenance plans could drive improvement in reliability

and reduce risks while operating assets. SAP EAM development team is currently developing a

solution that could provide a systematic review of these master data and help in identifying key areas

where these master data could be improved to have higher reliability and lower cost and risk. SAP

customers have in past used external / third party applications or excel based procedures to review

maintenance strategy and risk analysis. These customers used application like criticality analysis,

Root cause Analysis, RCM, FMEA and PM review process to evaluate effectivity of their maintenance

program. As process of evaluating maintenance strategy and program is getting more formalized

because of introduction of ISO55000, SAP EAM will be augmented with additional features to review

criticality, evaluate and review maintenance strategy and plans. Analytical applications for

maintenance planners will be further improved to get visibility about how maintenance strategies

impact on reliability, risk and cost of managing assets. New application will also leverage cloud based

platform from SAP and integrate with SAP Asset Intelligence Network and SAP Predictive

Maintenance and Service application to provide a future proof solution that could be used across

enterprise.

Project Goal

This project has been planned to ensure the new generation cloud application meets critical

requirements of our customers.

Goal is to develop a product that can be quickly implemented and used by organizations participating

in this project. Participating customers will provide their current critical business requirements and

pain points. They would also get an opportunity to influence features and function to ensure it meets

their current as well as future needs in effective management of maintenance strategies and

programs. Customers would have possibilities to review user experience of these new applications

and test first beta release so that they could quickly use this cloud based applications in their

productive environment without any lengthy implementation projects and training needs.

Vehicle-Consumption Based Billing

Reason for project

The digitalization of process and business models is becoming more important for many including

firms that run a business based on vehicles and moving assets. These special types of devices get

progressively more intelligent and connected and therefore can be integrated directly into an

innovative and lucrative business model. The most important trend in this area is the “consumption-

based billing”, which aims to collect data about the usage of a vehicle by a driver and automatically

initiates an end-2-end billing process. There are many examples: Forklift manufacturers could charge

the usage of a forklift by the amount of kilogram transported by one kilometer. A sports car

manufacturer includes the fun the driver had (indicated by the heart rate) into the calculation of the

usage rate.

Goals

The Goals of this project are to understand the market and its challenges and to examine which

options a solution like Vehicle Insights can contribute toward optimization. In the end, we aim to

have a clear concept as to which add-ons to SAP Vehicle Insights are needed, and also plan to

develop an initial prototype.

Role of the customer

The customer will act as an interview partner and give us key insights into the challenges and

opportunities of this market. We are also very interested in receiving feedback on the initial concepts

and the prototype. In addition, the customer will then be able to begin piloting the function.

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

The market analysis and the interviews should run in Q1 and Q2 2017. The customer engagement

involves a 1-hr initial call to outline the schedule, review the planned activities, and go over the ideas

and vision we have. We would then proceed with 1-hr calls once per month (for 3 months) to field

questions, gather feedback, assess new designs, and address action items. If appropriate, individual

support is planned to discuss design ideas, as well as a half-day workshop at the customer site.

Predictive Maintenance & Service

Reason to have this project

SAP Predictive Maintenance & Service has now been on the market for a year in two editions, one for

on-premise and one for cloud deployments. We are working on product enhancements in several

important areas and need input from more customers on how we should cut and design these

features. Topics include the wider "Derived Signal Management", charting, using geographic and

plant layout maps, functions to trigger actions in back-ends like ECC PM and CRM, data ingestion

from assets, and others.

Goal of this project

The Goal of this project is to help deliver product features and designs which are highly desirable for

SAP's customers.

Role of the participants

The role of the project participants will be to review and give feedback on the scope of new or

refactored functions and rate design alternatives, all against reflections how Predictive Maintenance

would or could work against their current and intended future work practices.

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

We plan for three kinds of activities in this project. The first one is mandatory for all project

participants, the other two are optional.

•The first one are phone interviews. We would expect participant to spend at least 5 hours (which

we need to step through the topics) over 3-4 calls with us. In the calls we will do screen sharing to

show the software and designs. We may do these calls in group or individual sessions.

•The second activity type for customers who are interested to delve more deeply into the product

would be on-site customer visits, which would be a mixture of conference room white-boarding

sessions and user observations. Such a visit would take 1-2 days, plus preparation time.

•The third activity type are usability tests, where one by one users will test the software or design

prototypes against set tasks, and the product team takes notes of any issues. Such a test would take

about an hour per user. These tests are best done face-to-face and could be done at one of the SAP

conferences, or on-site at the customer (which would require that at least 4-5 users would

participate to make the trip worthwhile).

Digital Plant Twin

Reason for project

Manufacturing companies are looking for digital transformation of their factories. to help that

journey, we want to create a digital twin of the plant depicting how the plant is structured in

different areas and lines based on S95/S88 structure, how different machines are interconnected

along with their speed. this model can help solve different use cases.

1. With the help of complete structure along with the speeds of each line, it will be possible to

simulate if today production plan can be executed or not based on other constraint for that day i.e.

availability of material, resources etc.

2. With 3D visualization provide virtual tour of the plant showing what orders are running, what are

the key KPIs for each line, what are the process parameters for each equipment etc. this will provide

virtual tour of the factory from anywhere.

Goal

Consider all aspects of how the digital twin of the plant can be created and fulfill multiple use cases.

Role of Customer

Sharing their plant set up information and what information is critical for them. what additional use

case can be taken care with the digital twin of the plant.

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

Couple of meetings to understand the requirement and then feedback on development done.

Logistics Business Network Reason

SAP Transportation Management is solution that helps managing transportation logistics in an on

premise environment. The collaboration with business partners is done through a web portal called

the Collaboration Portal where there is a 1:n relationship between the shipper and his carriers.

Industry-leading customers are approaching SAP and requesting that we put this Portal into the cloud

and enable network capabilities to run many-to-many collaboration Scenarios. The SAP TM

collaboration portal is an HTML5 based portal that is hosted on Premise by a shipper. Thus, carriers

have to connect to different collaboration portal instances, if they do business with several shippers.

In addition, there is a huge variety of different business partners, who also have their stake in

logistics business processes. Finally, there is an industry drift from hosting software on Premise to

provide software as cloud services over the internet. Competition has shown that there is a huge

market demand in offering networked logistics processes over the internet. Taking all these facts

together, there is high potential for SAP TM to offer a logistics business network that provides

lightweight business processes in connecting all relevant logistics business partners in the cloud. In

contrary to the 1:n relation of 1 shipper to n carriers from the collaboration portal, the LBN would be

a n:m network connecting n shippers to m carriers and other logistics parties.

Goal

The Logistics Business Network (LBN) is a business network that can facilitate a collaborative scenario

to improve service levels and reduce the cost-to-serve by providing end-to-end connectivity,

visibility, and collaboration between suppliers, customers and logistic partners. By integrating

logistics processes with order-to-cash, procure-to-pay and supply processes, companies significantly

improve working capital and ensure a resilient supply chain.

Interaction Expected From Customer

The LBN is being built on HANA Cloud Platform on Cloud Foundry making use of a microservice

architecture that is implemented in Java. The granularity of the microservices also has influence on

the pricing that impacts the business model. This requires constant interaction and feedback from

existing and interested customers on the type of collaboration they would expect or require on the

cloud and the processes which they consider important and that should be part of a collaborative

platform. This interaction would have to be on a regular basis just to ensure we deliver a high-quality

solution right at the onstart and the required downtimes to improvise already delivered solutions is

reduced. This interaction should be through Design thinking workshops with customers either at

their workplace or at SAP locations. End users in the logistics world are usually not sophisticated

software users and hence require simple and easy to use apps. The more simple the UI interactions

are, the more complex and sturdy the backend has to be. Hence its preferable that the development

teams could observe the way the end users work and use their software and this would ensure the

software is being built at the most granular level. Shorter delivery cycles on the cloud should ensure

that customers not only participate in the testing of the apps very early in the development cycle but

also that the development teams are able to interact and receive feedback through regular

interactions and act on them almost synchronously.

Improving the IoT Thing Modeler

SAP's IoT Thing Modeler is a tool which is to support the creation of the “Digital Twin”, that is the

model of the real world of Things as far as it is of interest for certain use cases. Any kind of "Thing"

shall be described, structured and enriched with business Information in order to serve as a

foundation for IoT applications. The challenge is to supply a solution that fits the different needs of

customers in the IoT space.

Customers may participate in discussions on concepts, give feedback and finally validate the results.

An Investment of overall 2-3 days per customer would be appreciated.

IoT Big Data Analytics

Reasons for this project

Analytics on Big Data stemming from IoT applications face new challenge: For efficient processing of

Big Data the data must be organized and pre-processed according to the analytical questions to be

answered. Thus, for designing the analytic services architecture, it is important to understand the

analytical use cases and queries that should be executed on the IoT data.

Goal:

In this project we want to discuss with customers

•What are the business questions they would like answer using analytics on IoT data?

•How would users evaluate and interpret the analytics? What graphical charts and tools would they

like to use?

•What data is required for the analytics? Which data is coming from the IoT devices, which data is

provided by the backend, and which data needs to be computed while the IoT data is collected?

•What queries in detail are required and what are the performance (scale and response time)

requirements?

•How should a IoT analytics query environment work so it is easy to use for business users?

Role of Customer

We want to understand from our customers their analytical questions they want to answer in

context of their IoT applications. We would like to discuss those according to the questions above.

Accordingly, we are looking for contacts with the following background:

•People defining IoT use cases or application and who understand the required analyses

•People doing analysis or reporting using IoT data

Working Model

•Onsite workshops at customer's site or virtual meetings with participation/interviews of employees,

e.g. following a Design Thinking approach

•Regular iteration rounds

•Usability and Functional testing (optional)

Business Model Based Management

Reason for Project

Business Models become more and more important. It is the product with the better business model

that wins, not the best product by itself. With our new concept we want to enable managers working

with products e.g. product owners, product managers, innovation managers or business

development managers to align business models and products. This should be done for new product

ideas as well as for existing products. The latter requires a deliberate management of their

corresponding business models over time. For this, we provide product focused managers with a

guided process through the lifecycle of a business model in accordance with their products. We

enable them to develop business models that go hand in hand with their products and support and

sustain their success.

Goal

We would like to validate the potential of a software solution supporting the alignment of products

and business models. In this process we would like to build a first web based prototype that helps

users to analyse, design, test and evaluate business models in the ideation phase, but also helps to

monitor and optimize business models of existing products to sustain their success.

Role of Customer

We are looking for product managers, product owners, innovation managers or business

development managers working on new or existing products out of any industry that are interested

in the connection between products and business models. Currently, we are in the validation phase

where we are developing a webbased prototype to help convey the idea of a potential future

solution. In our current phase we would like to get feedback for our prototype, but also for our

concepts to ensure we are moving in the right direction. We hope for an exchange of best practices

where we can learn from each other.

Business Rules Service in SAP Cloud Platform

Reason for project

In late 2014, Gartner came up with the term “BiModal” to describe the future of IT organisations,

where IT is divided into two main focus areas. One group is focused on Efficiency while the other is

focused on Innovation.Companies can differentiate themselves and create competitive advantage by

being agile to facilitate speed to market for new products, service offerings, or new digital

transformations of business processes. Business Rules, in SAP Cloud Platform, is a step to inline with

second strategy where users can author, manage and monitor business rules for their application.

Business Rules can be used to encapsulate business logic from application logic, enabling business

and key users to change the decision logic without re-writing the application. In this initiative we

want to engage with our customers in all phases as they explore and use various key capabilities of

the rules service in their application. Some of the key highlights of business rules service are:

•Web-based Business Rules editor for defining decision table

•IF-THEN text rules, flow rule sets

•Excel import and export of decision table rules

•Business logs for rule executions and governance

•API call backs for rule evaluation

•REST API to build, author and manage decision logic

Goal of the project

Our Goal is to continuously improve our features to help our customers get maximum benefits so

that they can use our cloud services more effectively and efficiently. The entire initiative would be

focussed on the evaluation of the key capabilities of rules service that is delivered over SAP Cloud

Platform – aiming to help users to rapidly build and author decision logic for workflow-based

applications and extend Fiori Web and Mobile applications on SAP HANA Cloud Platform. We would

collect feedback on the service readiness to ensure that our customers are able to achieve uses cases

like working with the prebuilt content, rule Governance and authoring and rule simulation

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

Initially periodic Web conferences will be held with SAP development, customers and partners

present. The expected frequency is once a month. Later site visits may be offered to ensure the

integrity of the use-cases being collected. If possible, we will arrange a workshop at the customer

offices to deep dive into specific topics around the new capabilities and the product roadmap.

Extending SAP Ariba using SAP Cloud Platform

REASON FOR THE PROJECT

SAP Cloud Platform is the extension platform from SAP that can be used to implement new

workflows or modules on top of existing SAP solutions in order to meet the rapidly changing

corporate processes and line of business requirements. The extension capabilities of SAP Cloud

Platform ensure the clear decoupling of the new applications from the extended SAP solutions via

the public API layer, while in the same time providing capabilities like out of the box security,

inherited data access governance, etc. The extensibility options of SAP Ariba solutions using SAP

Cloud Platform is relatively in the early stage of development. With the recent introduction of Open

Ariba APIs the demand for such functionalities has significantly increased and many partners express

interest in building and running new SAP Ariba extensions on SAP Cloud Platform to meet unique

needs of customers.

Goal

The Goal of this project will be to establish early engagement with interested customers and

partners. We will share with them the roadmap for the first delivery and validate provided security

and API integration capabilities.

Role of Customer

Customers and partners will share their business scenarios, technical requirements and will validate

together with our product team the forthcoming development plans

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

We plan to organize regular remote sessions (monthly basis), 1:1 conference calls, on-site

workshops, etc. based on the interest of the participants and the need for some deep-dive sessions.

Extending SAP Hybris Customer Engagement and Commerce using

SAP Cloud Platform

REASON FOR THE PROJECT

SAP Hybris Cloud for Customer (C4C) which is part of the SAP Hybris Customer Engagement and

Commerce (CEC) product line, is already being widely extended and customized using SAP Cloud

Platform. By leveraging functionalities such as C4C OData API integration with ID propagation, SAP

Cloud Platform Identity Authentication service for SSO and Portal Services it is possible to quickly

build modern, mobile-capable C4C extension applications.

Goal

Following the successful example of C4C, we plan to expand and establish extension ecosystem

covering the whole CEC portfolio. In order to achieve this Goal, as part of the project we would like to

collaborate with potential customers and partners who are eager to provide insights into their

business needs and requirements. In addition, we will also validate our current plans for future

development of C4C extensibility specifically focusing on the integration automation aspects that will

allow automatic onboarding of C4C extension package.

Role of Customer

Customers and partners will share their business scenarios, technical requirements and will validate

Latest capabilities around SAP Cloud Platform Integration and SAP

Process Orchestration

SAP HANA Cloud Platform Integration offers integration platform as a service. It provides out of the

box ready to use integration content for a host of integration scenarios. SAP Cloud Integration offers

simple modelling based integration capability and connectivity options with standard inbuilt

connectivity adapters and data transformation capabilities. SAP Cloud Integration also offers an

Adapter Development KIT (Adapter SDK) allowing customers/partners to build their own connectivity

options and enhance the Integration platform.

For those of you running an integration platform on-premise such as SAP Process Orchestration, SAP

Cloud Integration can be seen as complementary solution with focus on cloud to cloud and on-

premise to cloud integration scenarios. With NetWeaver release 7.5, you are now able to run the

cloud integration content on SAP Process Orchestration. Technically, we have co-deployed the SAP

Cloud Platform Integration runtime on the Java application server of an advanced adapter engine.

The cloud integration content component on-premise was initially build to reuse the SAP standard

cloud integration content on an on-premise integration platform. Since the SAP Cloud Platform

Integration runtime is based on open source Apache Camel, its modeling capabilities are more

flexible compared to the rather static messaging processing within an adapter engine. Furthermore,

it comes with a large feature set such as content modifier, encoder/decoder, content filter,

converters, scripts support, etc.

By participating in this project you get an early preview and progress of the SAP Cloud Integration

product and also get the opportunity to influence and provide feedback for the functionality in

offering. Some of the functionality that would be validated with customers/partners/consultants

include:

•Transport management

•B2B capabilities

•Adapter Development

Furthermore, we will share with you how SAP Process Orchestration leverages from the investments

done in SAP Cloud Integration. We would like to collect feedback about the cloud integration content

capabilities on-premise in general, and in particular identify use cases (other than content reuse)

where customers can leverage the flexible modeling capabilities of the Camel based runtime on-

premise.

User Experience in SAP Cloud Platform Identity Authentication service

Reason for Project

The team responsible for SAP Cloud Platform Identity Authentication service would like to work

together with customers to optimise the user experience of this product. We aim to gather our

customers’ professional feedback on both existing designs and new concepts, and use their insights

to provide modern, intuitive, consumer-grade design. One of the reasons for this project is to look

over our end user UIs and collect feedback from customers' point of view.

Goal

With our customers, we will identify and prioritise business scenarios and technical requirements,

learn from their expertise, take the opportunity to analyse and test the current interaction design,

and validate new concepts for development. One of our Goals is to explore in depth our existing user

flows and build list of enhancements that could improve customer experience.

Role of Customer

We will provide a short, introductory overview of the product with a focus on the end user scenarios.

We will then continue with telephone feedback sessions with individual customers, and in cases

where both sides are interested, possibly on-site visits. Customers will see already developed UIs,

initial wireframes of new concepts and interactive prototypes. Paper prototypes are possible option

for presenting user flows in our on-side visits.

The redesigned and improved SAP HANA 2.0 cockpit for database

administrators

Reason

SAP HANA system administrators can perform their day-to-day operations using a variety of tools

provided by SAP. These operations include database administration and monitoring, both at the

individual and enterprise level, as well as SQL development tasks such as database catalog browsing

and executing SQL commands to target databases. The new SAP HANA cockpit unifies the user

experience for database administration and SQL development in a harmonized environment so that

individual/landscape database management and developer tasks required by administrators are

performed via a single toolset. Customer feedback regarding this capability is crucial for the

continued product development of SAP HANA Cockpit.

Goal

We would like to discuss the new SAP HANA cockpit and obtain feedback regarding user experience

and current management features from the perspective of SAP HANA database administrators and

developers. We also want to investigate possible areas where new functionality is warranted. These

findings will allow us to gather product requirements and prioritize them based on what is important

to our customers.

Role of Customer

eQuill: a natural UX combining writing & sketching with system

intelligence

Reason for project

Project eQuill is an innovative prototype of a natural user experience that provides an interactive

mobile digital paper experience to business users, powered by system intelligence. With eQuill, you

can request, manipulate, and explore business data via writing, sketching, doodling, on a tablet and

receive intelligent system responses to your input. eQuill goes beyond voice to provide a truly natural

user experience where the user is free to express themselves and their intentions in new innovative

ways. The project was born from our research into the future trends in UX we are certain will

transform the ways in which business users interact with their business data. We believe eQuill can

provide massive benefits to the speed, ease, and actionability of business data for our customers, as

well as provide an innovative showcase of future UX. eQuill is in an exploratory stage, where we have

experimented with different usage patterns and opportunities in which eQuill's game changing UX

could provide great business value. We now are at the stage where we seek innovative partners to

help us drive forward our vision and help us to crystallise our ideas into solid prototypes and validate

and pilot our solution. We have existing prototypes for Insurance use-cases where users can bring

together different data sources, create reports on the fly, and get new insights into data via

exploration. We also investigate analytical uses of our UX, where users can import data by simply

writing down what data they want to see, combine graphs by drawing lines between them, and

receive drill downs by simply circling a region of a graph. You have to experience it to believe it!

Goal

We seek customers who can provide use-cases, assess the technical realisation of our prototypes,

and seek co-innovation within the area of UX. We would follow the design thinking methods to get to

a common understanding of the problem space, followed by research into suitable use-cases with

key roles from the customer. We would then prototype solutions, and validate the technical

landscape required from eQuill and validate the effectiveness of the solution from a key users

viewpoint through piloting.

Role of Customer

We would request participants from key roles affected by a scenario be present for research

activities, as well as those involved in innovation and UX topics.

Planned activities and estimated effort for participants

An ideal partnership would last between 3 to 6 months to provide us sufficient freedom to research,

ideate, iterate, and prototype solutions. We would like to suggest the following procedure to initiate

the partnership:
