Prom Season Is Upon Us

A right of passage for many high school students.

Prom season is upon us once again. It is that time of year when moms and dads watch as their high school aged kids head off to what is in their eyes probably the biggest event of their lives. Depending on details of arrangements made by each school, personal plans must be made accordingly to pick up the slack.

• If the high school does not provide a meal at the function, dinner reservations will need to be arranged.

• Transportation to and from the event will need to be considered as well as where the kids will be dropped off after the prom.

• If it’s to be a black-tie affair, tuxedos will need to be sized for the young men and formal dresses will need to be measured and altered for the ladies.

Catching a ride in style to the biggest high school event in their lives adds a little flair to an already exciting night. Not only is it a status symbol, it gives everyone a chance to get away from moms and dads and relax with friends while riding to dinner and then on to prom. Loud stereos, LED lighting, and a unique experience with friends is a lot of fun and helps set the tone for the night.

Most students will elect to drive themselves to the prom either by personal choice or financial necessity. While perfectly acceptable to drive yourself, many kids will instead pool their money together and rent a limo.

Approaching the end of the school year, days become hectic as students get ready for finals and finishing up their studies. Prom comes around just before that last mad rush to finish everything up for the year allowing for a much needed break. Traditionally a time of new beginnings, there is no better time for your prom.

For the most part, spring time has been known as prom season. Usually coming halfway between spring break and graduation, this has proven to be a great time to hold this formal event.

Most organizing committees select destinations for prom that provide ideal open areas for tables, dance floors, and great sound and light systems. This pre-requisite quickly narrows down the available venues to banquet halls, country clubs, event centers, and ballrooms.

If the location for the prom doesn’t have kitchen facilities, then dinner must be arranged elsewhere, or perhaps the students prefer to make their own arrangements for dinner with their friends at a local restaurant.
