INTRODUCTION
We all have commented on those family traits that identify our heritage. Many are
as harmless as the color of hair or the size of our nose. We may be gifted in the
ability to gain great wealth or be able to sing like a lark. All of them, wonderful
qualities we inherited from past generations!
But others are dreadfully destructive – traits such as divorce, certain diseases, drug
or alcohol addictions, anger, abuse. They seem to dictate the course of life as
predictably as DNA. The Word of God promises a path to freedom from these
generational curses and a new life in the promises of God. God’s heart is for us to
live in His Promised Land, free from giants and full of His goodness!
This is our promise!
Let’s take this journey together! Let’s let God show us how to let go of the
destructive DNA and receive His DNA instead. We are in for the life of freedom
that He always intended for us! Courage! Let’s go!

Stored-Up Treasure Lesson 1
DAY ONE Meditation Is Your Key to Success
Jeremiah 33:3 (NIV) 3 Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you
do not know.
God wants to show you great things, unsearchable things, wonderful things,
treasures hidden in His Word FOR YOU!!!! TODAY!
As you come and spend time with Him you begin to SEE behind the scenes to
what He has for you, things He is longing to share with you!
“Come and sit with Me,” He says.
Meditating on His Word opens the way for the Holy Spirit to begin to paint the
pictures in our minds and hearts. Revelation knowledge begins to happen. We can
SEE the promise He has for us. And once the promise gets planted in our hearts,
we know that conception happened.
Luke 2:51b (NIV) 51b. ...But His mother treasured all these things in her heart.
10
What did Mary treasure?
The visitation of the angel Gabriel.
What he spoke about the child she would carry.
Her cousin Elizabeth's words
The shepherds report
The kings story
Finding Him in the temple where He conversed with the priests and religious
people.
So when they ran out of wine during the wedding it was natural for her to turn to
her Son for the solution. She carried God's Miracle Promise in her heart, Jesus.
I Corinthians 2:9-10, 12 (NIV) 9 “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has
prepared for those who love Him.”10 But God has revealed it to us by His
Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 12 We have not
received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may
understand what God has freely given us.
We are building our own treasure chest where God's Word rules over our lives!
Conception happens! Our eyes CAN SEE, our ears CAN HEAR, our minds CAN
CONCEIVE what God has prepared for us because we love God.

DAY TWO My Daily Meditation Built a Fortress in My Heart
When I was a new Christian and ignorant of God's Word, a friend gave me a copy
of a prayer that contained God's promises. This was long before I was introduced
to Dr. Maureen and her Power of Confession book. This prayer contained God's
promises for HEALTH and HEALING, PROSPERITY, SAFETY and
PROTECTION. I faithfully prayed and confessed them over my family and
myself.
In the beginning, I didn't know if anything was happening. Natural eyes can't see
into the spirit realm. But then I began to imagine with the Holy Spirit.
Just like in the beginning of time, when the earth was formless and void, darkness
covered the earth but the Holy Spirit was there. He was hovering over the
atmosphere, waiting for God's Word to be spoken. His part was to empower its
ability. He is the creative power of God's Word, reproducing it in our hearts.
Meditation causes reproduction in the soul.
So I began to see the Holy Spirit hovering over my prayers and meditation. I
began to imagine the angels covering my family with divine protection—especially
our cars. I remember a time when my husband bought a used car for me. He said,
“DO NOT go over 45 mph. I'm not sure what will happen.” . . .no wonder my
friend gave me those faith-confessions to meditate. I had to learn to depend on
God for my safety and protection!
13
Psalm 91:9-11 (TPT) 9-10 When we live our lives within the shadow of the God Most High, our secret
Hiding Place, we will always be shielded from harm. How then could evil prevail
against us or disease infect us? 11 God sends angels with special orders to protect
you wherever you go, defending you from all harm.
When our teenagers had been gone for long periods of time, my husband and I
would ask the Holy Spirit if they were safe. A peace would come over us. Then
my husband would ask that they call home. Within 10 minutes the phone would
ring.
Meditating on God's promises and seeing the results causes great peace!
When it seemed like the promise was taking a long time to manifest, I would
imagine what was happening behind the scenes.
“Lord, show me the picture. What does it look like?”
I was always seeing angels at work and very busy.
(They listen to the voice of the Word, to carry it out.)
So I would see them having to put a certain person in the right position, even
moving them crossed the country. Maybe they had to create a need for my
husband's skills and talents. Then a divine connection would need to take place.
Behind the scenes there was a lot of activity as people were being moved to the
right positions. So I would have peace in my heart and encourage the angels…
“Good job!”
14
One time as I was praying for prosperity my husband came home and said that the
Lord told him to quit his present job. My first response was “Yikes!”
My husband obeyed the Lord and within a few hours someone who had met Fred a
year earlier called. He asked Fred if it was possible for him to come to manage his
business. My husband just happened to be free to do so!
He doubled that man's business and even opened another branch of the same
company.
When we meditate on God's Word we are building a place for God to rule in our
lives by His Spirit.

DAY THREE
Does it happen overnight?
Sometimes.
And then there is the place where we must stand and stand on the promise and
NEVER give up! We look and the land seems barren or so slow in coming that we
wonder if we should just give up and walk away.
Then answer is: NEVER!
When we are believing for our health and healing, our bodies have a voice and
want to speak of our PRESENT CONDITION. Sometimes they are loud and
whiny.
Dr. Cho, in his book The Fourth Dimension, shared the story from a
neurosurgeon. This doctor said that science has just discovered that the tongue
controls the entire body.
Whatever comes out of our mouth the brain picks up and sends to all the nerves in
the body.
(Dr. Cho said, “Yes, we know that. Dr. James told us in Chapter 3.”)
The neurosurgeon continued to share with Dr. Cho. He explained that when we
say, “I am tired,” the brain picks it up and sends that message to the nerves. They
begin to send signals to slow down or to quit. The message is, “We're tired!”
16
If we say, “I'm retired,” the brain picked up the message and lets the nerves know
that it is time to retire the body and the body begins to let go.
The GOOD NEWS for us Christians is that we always have employment in God's
house. We never retire!
The words we speak are life or death to our bodies.
Every day we need to meditate—picture, image, speak what God says over our
bodies.
In Joseph Prince's book Destined to Reign, he shared a conversation he had with
God.
They were talking about aging and the Lord said, “Son, do you know that growing
old is part of the curse that came upon the earth because of Adam's sin? In heaven
there is no curse. We are forever young.”
We were never intended to age!
Matthew 6:10 (NIV) 10 Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Every day I say to my body:
“I have the dew of my youth on me.” Psalm 110:3
“My skin is young like a child's skin.” Job 33:25
“I have the strength of a wild ox.” Numbers 23:22
“As my day is so is my strength.” Deuteronomy 38:25
MEDITATION CAUSES REPRODUCTION!
17
Charles Capps in his book God's Creative Power, had this to say about God's
Word:
“God's Word is creative power.”
The Word of GOD conceived in the heart (through meditation)
Formed by the tongue,
And spoken out of the mouth is CREATIVE POWER.

DAY FOUR
Jesus is Calling us into agreement with His Word by our meditation
The Holy Spirit give me the things to meditate. They are the things I don't know
very well.
For instance, when Dr. Maureen talked about His divine nature, it became my
meditation. I had to know His divine nature. The Holy Spirit began to shine His
light on who He was.
The in Christ confessions became my meditation and one day as I was asking God
to fill me with the knowledge of His will, He dressed me in Christ. Christ is the
will of God in us.
I had to know my position and authority at the right hand of God, in Christ's
victory, again, it was time to conceive it in my heart. I had to see myself far about
all rule, authority, power, dominion and every name that can be named...
In order for the promises to be realized we must come into agreement with His
Word.
It has to become a part of us.
Jesus validated His part!
When you have a joint bank account with your husband, both signatures are
required in order to validate that account.
We are co-heir with Christ.
19
All that heaven contains is OURS but we don't have the full revelation of it!
Little by little God shines a light on those things He wants for us to obtain NEXT!
It takes time for God to form them in us, just like when you're pregnant—it takes
time for the baby to grow and develop inside of us, so also does the promise.
Meditating is producing that LIFE!
MEDITATION CAUSES REPRODUCTION!
The knowledge of the Kingdom is growing in us.
Joshua 1:8 NIV 8 Keep this Book of Law always on your lips; Meditate on it day and night,
(murmur, imagine, speak, talk God-talk) So that you may be careful to do
everything written in it. (signing your agreement) Then you will be prosperous and
*successful.
*Note:
Joshua accepted Moses' place of leadership without misgiving. God's will for him
was his will, and he did not hesitate.
To be all-out for God was already habitual with him, it is the unfailing prerequisite
of eternal success.
We are building a place of stored-up treasure in our hearts here God's Word reigns
by our meditation.
We are building a life of blessings and success.
Meditation causes reproduction.

Meditation A Relationship with the Word of God
Lesson 2
DAY ONE The Abundance of the Heart the Mouth Speaketh
MY STORY: I was married to my first husband for 22 years. It was not a great
time of my life and it all started with a thought – divorce! If I left my husband,
things would be better for all of us. That thought popped into my head a couple of
years into the marriage. Then I voiced it and said, “Maybe we should just get a
divorce.” His response – “Go ahead!” Wow, didn’t see that coming! It was as if
misery, hopelessness and despair all settled over me as a cloak. I didn’t feel like I
could go through with it because of the children plus I really didn’t have anywhere
to go. My family lived 650 miles away. So, I made a plan (my plan). I’d build
myself some good credit so I wouldn’t have to rely on him for anything. My Dad
didn’t raise no fool where money was concerned. I got a credit card and started
charging a few things I could afford. Basically, I made a plan to fail in my
marriage and relationship with my husband. Hence, 22 years of thinking about it
and talking about it and planning, the result? Everything blew up inside of me and
spewed forth and I petitioned for the divorce I’d been thinking about and talking
about. What I thought about long enough eventually became what I believed –
divorce! What we meditate on is a driving force within us!
22
When Leon Fontaine was here for FX he said, “The heart is self-fulfilling
prophecy.” I was speaking death over my life – self-fulfilling prophecy in a
negative way. I was practicing a negative form of meditation.
Matthew 15:18 (TPT) 18 But what comes out of your mouth reveals the core of your heart.
Matthew 12:34b (TPT) 34b For what has been stored up in your hearts will be heard in the overflow of your
words!
Matthew 12:34b (ASV) 34b…for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
But, thank God, He had a better plan for my life and His plan was full of hope. He
never leaves us in the pit. He’ll come looking for us no matter where we are. Like
the Shepherd who goes looking for the one lost sheep. I was really lost!
23
DAY TWO The Scent of the Word
Who knew God would use a voice from Fenton, MO to reach me in the pit I’d dug
for myself. I started watching Joyce Meyer (five years after my divorce) and re-
dedicated my life to Christ. Oh yes, I was a born again, Spirit filled, tongue
talking, Bible toting Christian woman for 19 of my married years. I’d turned to the
Lord after three years of my marriage but after 19 years of waiting for my husband
to give his life to the Lord I’d had enough and turned my back on God (I didn’t
think He was working hard enough to get my husband saved and it was taking too
long). I thought life is too short and I’ve given enough of myself to everyone, now
it’s time for me and I started partying hard! You can see I really didn’t have a
revelation of who God was and how much He loved me (and my husband). I
professed to being a Christian but I didn’t really know the true definition of a
Christian. I was in a denominational church and all I knew was law and religion. I
didn’t see or hear any grace in those years and if it was there I sure didn’t pick up
on it. My marriage had been a pure battle of the wills and I wanted to make sure I
won! But I didn’t win; my family lost. After watching Joyce Meyer, I realized
something needed to change and it was me!
Law and religion twist and pervert the Word of God. I needed to renounce the
religion that was in me and get a revelation of how much God loved me – Grace!
Instead of a cloak of misery and hopelessness, He covered me with His blood and
His great love for me.
24
There was hope for me. It says in God’s Word even if we get cut off, we can, at
the scent of water start sprouting again. In other words, as long as there is some
Word present in our lives, there is potential for new growth.
Job 14:7-9 (NIV) 7At least there is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new
shoots will not fail. 8 Its roots may grow old in the ground and its stump die in the
soil, 9 yet at the scent of water it will bud and put forth shoots like a plant.
We had a tree by our pool that kept dropping leaves and making a mess so we cut
it down. I noticed that after a while it started to sprout leaves at the very base of the
trunk and the trunk would get totally covered with new leaves so it looked like a
bush. It was really kind of pretty. I think it got the scent of the pool water. That’s
the way it is with us. We get the scent of the Word and it brings forth new life.
For me it was a re-dedicated life to God.
25
DAY THREE
Grease the Wheel
If we want to change our circumstances, we need to change our confession
(meditation). I needed a relationship with the Word of God, to really know and
experience Christ. That’s what starts the process. Transformation in our belief
system has to come from the inside out. I had to change my thought processes.
It’s like there’s no grease on the wheel and it comes to a grinding halt and then
slowly, as I started confessing and meditating on the promises of God, the wheel
started turning in the other direction. That’s how it felt. I needed to start going in
the right direction and grease the wheel with the Word of God. The squeaky wheel
gets the grease, right?
Joshua 1:8 (NIV) 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so
that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous
and successful.
God had Joshua focus on His thinking – meditate – then he would have good
success.
If you lose on the inside, the battle is over. Joyce Meyer wrote a book, The
Battlefield of the Mind, which really changed how I thought and how I looked at
things. The battle is in the mind and we can choose how we think and what we let
come out of our mouths. Most of the time it’s a huge effort to think and say the
right things but when we control our tongues we get good results.
26
If you win on the inside, you’ve just won your first victory. Life is a process – one
victory at a time; one step at a time. We’re never done living our lives. John
Maxwell was quoted: “Success is a journey, not a destination.”
Joshua 1:7 (AMP) 7 Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do [everything] in accordance
with the entire law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to
the right or to the left, so that you may prosper and be successful wherever you go.
He was saying follow My words of instruction that Moses wrote down. Think
about these Scriptures, follow these Scriptures and obey these Scriptures.
Our strategy for success is the same as Joshua’s strategy for success:
1. Meditation & Memorization
Deuteronomy 6:6 (AMP) 6 These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be [written] on
your heart and mind.
a. To memorize – repeat the verse
Repeat in our thoughts and our spoken words
b. To meditate – review the verse
Connect to the Word of God.
27
2. Four times of review
Deuteronomy 6:7 (AMP) 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children [impressing God’s
precepts on their minds and penetrating their hearts with His truths] and
shall speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the
road and when you lie down and when you get up.
a. When we relax at home or wait in an office
b. When we take a walk or drive to work
c. When we go to sleep
Psalm 63:6 (AMP) 6When I remember You on my bed, I meditate and thoughtfully
focus on You in the night watches,
d. When we wake
We can tell if God is on our minds when we go to sleep because
He’ll be on our minds when we wake up.
3. Decorating our home/office to enhance biblical meditation
28
Deuteronomy 6:9 (AMP) 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
The (singular) mezuzah (Hebrew) has special significance in Jewish
tradition. It is a piece of parchment on which is written this passage
(6:4-9). The parchment is encased to protect it, and is attached to the
right doorpost. By Jewish law, all rooms where people live or sleep
(excluding bathrooms) is required to have mezuzoth on the doorposts. It
was their sign of protection. It was a reminder.
We have different ways to enhance our homes or offices with biblical
reminders. We may have pictures of Jesus or plaques with Bible verses
inscribed on them to remind us of God’s promises and His love for us.
Terri Savelle Foy does vision boards. In her bio she said that was a life
changing activity for her. When she was here for Women’s Conference
she told us we had to be specific and focused on what we’re meditating
for. Write it down, make it plain. Keep it in front of our eyes.
Habakkuk 2:2 (AMP) 2Then the LORD answered me and said, “Write the vision and engrave it
plainly on [clay] tablets so that the one who reads it will run.”
Run, in the Hebrew means: To break down, divide speedily, stretch out,
to bring hastily.
29
That’s where vision boards come in. They keep us focused on what
we’re believing God for and we may get results hastily according to this
verse in Habakkuk. Don’t plan to be successful; Plan to do successful
things and you’ll see success.
Meditation will change our lives because we focus on what God’s promises are for
us. We meditate differently because we’re all different, have different
personalities and different goals. When we connect and visualize the Word of
God, this is meditation. It’s both thinking (visualizing) and speaking.
This was Joshua’s secret & this is our secret – getting the Word of God into our
eyes, our ears, our hearts and then speaking it.
30
DAY FOUR
Words Have Power
The key to me having an abundant life and start heading in the right direction was
to keep my lips from evil and pursue peace which meant I needed to find a
different church and different friends. When God started moving my friends out of
my life it seemed like the most natural thing. There were no hard feelings and no
offense. I had prayed for divine connections. He directed me to the right church
and the right friends. Then He eventually directed me to Arizona and this church
and my new church family. He had plans and a destiny for me that weren’t even
on my horizon or even close, like teaching.
1 Peter 3:10-12 (NKJV) 10 For he who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from
evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. 11 Let him turn away from evil and do good;
let him seek peace and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous,
and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the LORD is against those
who do evil.
Words have power. They create either for good or for evil. I needed to start
speaking and meditating on positive, productive and creative things. I had to ask
the Holy Spirit because once we get His instruction we can speak to that situation
with clarity and authority. We’ll run with it and see things start to happen. We
want our meditation to come out of our heart.
31
Psalm 19:14 (NKJV) 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your
sight, O LORD, my Strength and my Redeemer.
As we start meditating on the Word, what starts to surface and come up inside of
us? Giants, baggage we’ve been carrying around from our past, soul wounds from
past hurts. I had giants in my land and I had to get them out before I could start
walking in the promises of God for myself and my family. Giants will keep
stealing your promises unless you deal with them. I had to take those thoughts
captive.
2 Corinthians 10:4-6 (NIV) 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary,
they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and
every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take
captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6 And we will be ready to
punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.
We’ll start hearing thoughts like:
It’s always been like this in our family…
We can never get free from this – it’s generational – our mom had it, our
grandma had it, etc.…
32
The devil is so subtle and he knows what it’ll take to get you off track but that is
stinkin thinkin! Deal with it like you would the dirty garbage in your house –
throw it out!
We can get free from it! Speak to that giant, that mountain!
Mark 11:22-24 22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this
mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but
believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell
you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be
yours.
Faith has to produce an action. Thinking in faith will not release the power of
God. We need to learn to speak in faith. What does verse 23 in Mark say – if
anyone “says” to this mountain, right? Thinking will, indeed, produce the right
thought but for the power to go forth it needs to be spoken. The devil is under our
feet! We need to take our authority and walk all over him!
Sin creates wounds in our souls so, first, we need to confess our sin and put the
blood of Jesus on it. See it nailed to the cross of Jesus, covered in His blood
because His blood purifies. Second, command the devil and his cohorts to leave in
Jesus name. Third, put God’s grace on our bodies, proclaim healing and release
God’s glory into our souls! Connect to God’s faith.
33
Jesus died and shed His blood so we could be free! Walk out your relationship
with God’s Word and get closer to God by meditating. The Bible is God’s words
of instruction to us so we may have abundant lives. Let’s envision and meditate on
His words. Let’s not only be hearers but doers of His Word.
1. Change our confession and meditation – grease our wheel with the
Word!
2. Memorize and meditate – be specific and clear
3. Keep it in front of our eyes – write it down (vision boards)
4. Be in a constant state of review
5. Meditate the way the Holy Spirit shows you
6. Get free of the baggage and soul wounds – take your authority

Words that Create Lesson 3
DAY ONE God Gives Us Words
2 Samuel 23:1-2 (NIV) These are the last words of David:
1 “The inspired utterance of David of Jesse, the utterance of the man exalted by the
Most High, the man anointed by the God of Jacob, the hero of Israel’s songs;
2 “The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me; His Word was on my tongue.
Where did David get his words? They were not from a creative imagination or a
highly educated mind. They were not his own. They were much better; they were
God’s Words! God never asks us to do anything on our own. He even gives us
His Words!
Matthew 10:20 (NIV) 20For it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through
you.
Psalm 81:10 (NIV) 10I am the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your
mouth and I will fill it.
36
In any situation God has words for you to speak to it. He puts a sword in your
hand! That’s a Rhema word, which is a specific Word for a specific person and
their specific situation. Remember the armor of God, in Eph. 6:11. The sword is
the only item listed that serves in an offensive capacity.
The Holy Spirit is always there standing by as our Helper, always speaking to us,
but are we listening? Are we capturing God’s Words?
I remember in my early 20’s God gave me words that caused me to conquer
mountains! I had a real problem with an “I can’t” mentality that I had developed at
a very you age. Every time I received a new project at work I would be completely
overwhelmed and overcome with fear. I didn’t believe I knew how, and I didn’t
want to do it. I just wanted it to go away.
Thank the Lord, a day came that I got a breakthrough! I had attended the
Women’s Conference at Living Word Bible Church and something that needed to
break, broke that weekend. I could feel that I got free of a mentality and it was
time to move on up. God gave me WORDS and the words were “I CAN, I WILL
and I’LL DO IT EXCELLENT!” I know in my heart that God was going to give
me more at work now. Sure enough, that very next Monday my boss called me
into his office and I knew he was going to ask me to do a project at a whole new
level, and he did. I felt the fear try to rise up, but under my breath I said, “I CAN, I
WILL and I’LL DO IT EXCELLENT!” Those words had power on them! I could
feel the fear disappear! After that there were a few more times I needed to use
those words, and they defeated fear every time.
I learned that I really could, and each project ended up truly excellent. I could not
have fulfilled destiny with that giant in my soul. God was faithful to give me
words.

DAY TWO Word of His Power
Hebrews 1:3 (NIV) 3The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being,
sustaining all things by His powerful Word. After He had provided purification for
sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. (By the mighty power
of His spoken Word)
He sustains all things by His powerful spoken Word. Nothing happens, nothing
changes without words. Words are spiritual force, releasing the ability of God to
produce!
2 Corinthians 4:13 (NIV) 13 It is written: “I believed; therefore, I have spoken.” Since we have that same
spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak,
We are made in His image and likeness and God has given us the same power to
release His Words that create into the earth. In Matthew 6:10 Jesus said to pray
God’s Word, His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We must speak the
Words from heaven He gives to us to do that. What Jesus has already
accomplished on earth and decreed and declared in heaven, we come into
agreements by speaking on earth! He gave us authority over the earth! We must
enforce what the death, burial and resurrection of Christ has done.
Proverbs 18:21 (NIV) 21The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
39
What are we allowing to come out of our mouths? More importantly, what are we
allowing our thoughts to dwell on? Our long sitting thoughts eventually become
words. This is what Kenneth Hagin used to say about thoughts, “You can’t keep a
bird from flying over your head, but sure can keep him from landing on you head
and building a nest.” Thoughts will come, but what will we do with them when
they come?
2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV) 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the
knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
The death of a loved one became a very powerful truth to me when I was 26 years
old. I had just became a newlywed and I had gotten the news that my Dad had a
heart attack. He passed away at the age of 52. I felt like I had just barely grew up
and was off on my own when he went to heaven.
From the moment that I found out that he was gone, I turned my heart over to
Father God. I wasn’t going to take another step until He gave me instruction on
how to do it HIS way.
My thoughts, praise and meditation became my focuses along with having an
intimate relationship with the Lord. I kept my thoughts and daily meditation on
heaven day and night gave me peace.
One night, though as I was falling asleep, the enemy tried to use thoughts to turn
me in a different direction. I started to think about all sad, painful, and unfair
things my Dad experienced in his life on earth. These thoughts brought
sleeplessness, torment, heaviness and pain on me. I suddenly realized what was
going on and I began to speak to myself, “wait a minute! This isn’t me!” I haven’t
thought like this the whole time…I was immediately taken back to seeing my Dad
40
in heaven and how amazing it was there for him. Then just like a light switch, I
went back to peace and quickly fell asleep with a smile on my face. I believe the
transition was that quick and easy because I had already stored up so much life and
truth in my mind with meditation that it was much bigger and stronger than the
negative that was trying to keep me up that night. All I had to do was turn around
and I was able to fall asleep.
We need to remember that it’s not us on our own, but the help of the Holy Spirit to
give us right thoughts and words. He’s always standing by, we must include Him
and listen.

DAY THREE The Unseen
God finishes and then He begins. God has already finished the unseen. There is
an unseen spirit world and God is a Spirit. God created out of the unseen.
Colossians 1:16 (NIV) 16For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and
invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been
created through Him and for Him.
2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV) 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen
is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Things you see are temporary, they are subject to change.
Hebrews 12:2 (NIV) 2Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before
Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of
the throne of God.
We are to fix our eyes on Jesus, He is our Promised Land. He is the great I Am!
He is the reason we have what we have in Him. God never focused on the giants,
He always set the promise before them and the unseen where the real world is, the
spirit world. The Holy Spirit shows us what’s in the unseen spirit world so we can
bring it into the seen world through mediation, revelation, faith and the spoken
Word.
42
One time I was having a little fit. I was by myself in my pool and my eyes were
really fixed on a situation (the temporary situation) that was driving me a little
crazy. I was telling the Lord all about it and how I just wanted Him to fix it, to
change that person that was driving me crazy. Suddenly He said “look at Me,” but
I was moving so fast in the wrong direction I could hardly slow down. Then He
said it again with more urgency, “LOOK AT ME!” In my spirit I saw Him sitting
behind me at the edge of the pool so I turned around and looked at Him and He
said “what do you see?” Of course before He even asked the question, what I had
immediately experienced when I turned around was my soul being flooded with
life as I looked at Him. I said “I see life.” End of story, lesson learned.
He truly is the Great I Am, everything we need. I was so wrapped up in something
that was so small, temporal, and passing away that I needed to be reminded of the
reality that is much more real than what I was seeing and experiencing with my
natural senses.

DAY FOUR Just Flow
Sometimes we beg God to give us more of this and more of that, but it really
comes down to surrendering and submitting to the Holy Spirit in us and just flow.
It’s Him in us that does the work anyways. Don’t beg, just flow! Below is a great
story by Kenneth Copeland.
Oh, God, I need more power! Please…please…please give me more power,
LORD!
Have you ever prayed a prayer like that?
I have. In fact, some years ago I was praying along those lines, earnestly
beseeching God to give me greater power to minister. It was a fine, very
spiritual-sounding prayer. But The LORD interrupted me right in the middle
of it.
‘Kenneth,’ He said, ‘where would I go to get you more power?’
The question stopped me cold.
‘No one has more power than I do,’ He continued. ‘And I’ve already filled
you with My Spirit. I’ve put within you the same miraculous force that
created heaven and earth, the same supernatural strength that raised Jesus
from the dead. Where am I going to go to find something greater than that?’
The point was clear. As born-again, Holy Spirit-filled believers, you and I
don’t need more power. We simply need to more fully release what we’ve
45
already been given. We need to allow the Spirit of God within us to flow
through us in greater measure.
We must recognize the amazing, precious gift of the Holy Spirit in us and
TRUST and acknowledge Him in all things. We must practice submitting and
releasing that flow. He deeply desires to touch our own world and other's
world around us, through us.
Acts 1:8 (NIV) 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be
My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the
earth.

Forbidden Poison Lesson 4
DAY ONE Fear – A Forbidden Poison
If you knew something was poisonous, that it could steal your life, kill your
hopes and dreams and stop you from fulfilling the purpose and destiny that
God has for you, how far would you go to keep it out of your life?
We are continuing to look at the Book of Joshua and the Old Testament pictures.
In the Promised Land there are two poisons that we are forbidden to have in our
life. These poisons are discouragement and fear. We are forbidden to have these
poisons because they can stop the promises of God from manifesting in our lives.
In this lesson we will be looking at fear; what we need to know about it, why we
need to keep it out of our life, and what we can do to stop it.
Fear in Hebrew is arats and means dread, harass, afraid, feared, terrified, oppress,
shake terribly.
48
Fear is actually faith in reverse. It believes in something or someone other than
God. Fear will negate faith and according to Hebrews 6:12 it is by faith that we
receive the promises.
Fear cannot just overcome us; we have to let it in. Many times the way that fear
comes in is when we take our focus off of Jesus and put it on our circumstance.
Joshua 1:9 (NIV84) 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do
not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
In this scripture God is not just telling us, He is commanding us to be strong and
courageous and not to fear. Command here means to give orders, charge, or to
commission.
God would never command us to do something if we not able to do it. The Bible
tells us in Romans 8:11 that we have the same Spirit that raised Christ from the
dead dwelling in us.
Just like you have to be aware and careful to avoid something that is poisonous, we
must be aware careful that we don’t allow fear into our lives.
Fear will cause you to loose before you win. It will cause you to be stolen from
instead of prospering.
49
Therefore, fear is a forbidden poison that cannot be a part of the Promised Land
and should not be a part of our life.

1. What has God commanded us not to do and why?

DAY TWO Effects of Fear
Fear is like a poison and will steal the promises of God from us. It is important for
us to realize that fear does not come from our Heavenly Father.
The originator of fear is Satan (the kingdom of darkness). The first time Adam and
Eve ever felt fear was when they succumbed to the temptation of the devil and ate
the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Genesis 3:10 (NIV) 10 “He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was
naked; so I hid.”
This was the first time they were ever afraid. They had previously enjoyed a close
intimate relationship with God the Father without any fear. This fear caused them
to run and hide. Many times when we feel fear, it also makes us want to run away
and hide.
In an article by Joyce Meyers she says, “Every time you feel fear in your life it is a
manifestation of the kingdom of darkness. It is a spirit Satan uses to try to rule
God’s people and keep them from coming under the leadership of Jesus.”
51
People can have many different types of fears plaguing them. Some may have fear
of riding in airplanes, fear of loss, fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of
something happening to their family members, fear of not being loved, etc. Some
fears can turn into phobias, which is an extreme, irrational, obsessive fear.
Many people never fulfill the call of God on their lives because Satan uses fear to
stop them.
When you enter into fear you are stepping into the kingdom of darkness and the
enemy’s realm. Fear can cause torment, mental trauma, and depression, releasing
bad chemicals into our bodies. It makes it difficult to capture our thoughts and
causes self-centeredness, denial, and paralyzes us causing us to quit. There is no
peace, joy, or happiness when we are in fear.
Ultimately, fear makes us a victim and causes us to lose our ability to fight the
enemy and draw our sword.
John 10:10 (NKJ) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come
that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
This is the plan of the enemy to steal your dreams and destroy your life. He does
not want anyone to fulfill the purpose, plans and destiny that God has for them and
he often uses fear to stop us.
52
If the enemy can get you into his world of fear, and get you to embrace what he is
saying, letting it have dominion in your life, he can take you down.
Therefore, we must treat fear like the poison that it is and keep it out our
lives.
When we keep fear out of our life we are able to receive the abundant life (means-
beyond measure, superior, extraordinary, more excellent) that Jesus came to give
us.
Questions
1. How can fear negatively impact us and why is it comparable to poison?

DAY THREE Love Drives Out Fear
Did you know that a key to walking in victory and being free from fear is having a
revelation in your heart of God’s love for you?
When you trust someone (like your mom, dad, or sister, etc.) and know that they
genuinely love and care about you, you believe they will do what they said they
would do. You can take them at their word because you believe they would never
intentionally hurt you.
That’s the kind of confidence and trust we should have in our Heavenly Father.
Romans 8:31-32 (NKJ) 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He
not with Him also freely give us all things?
This scripture shows us the reality of God’s love for us. We know God loves us
because He sent His Son to die for us. (I don’t know anyone who would be willing
to sacrifice their child for someone else). God’s love for us far surpasses human
love. His love for us is deep and unchanging.
54
God wants us to know that we are loved and valued by Him. Ephesians 3:17-19
tells us that it is God’s will for our life to believe and intimately know the depth of
His love. The TPT translation says His love is endless beyond measure, and this
extravagant love pours into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness
of God!
To gain a greater comprehension of His love we must meditate on it and allow it to
sink deep into our spirit. The more we meditate on God’s love, the more it builds
our faith in Him and His Word.
Creflo Dollar said in his book, Overcoming Fear, “When you are rooted and
grounded in God’s love for you, it will empower you to do all things.”
1 John 4:18 (NIV) 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do
with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
The Greek word for perfect here is teleios, which means brought to its end,
wanting nothing necessary to completeness, mature, full grown.
We have perfect love. God’s love for us is perfect. A mature understanding of
God’s love removes any fear of God’s judgement towards us.
55
When we focus on how we have fallen short or sinned instead of what Jesus
accomplished on the Cross, we don’t feel worthy. Satan will also try to put fear in
us that we are deserving of a penalty.
Reading about and meditating on God’s love for us and His grace is important
because it drives out fear.
When Satan tries to attack your mind with negative words and fear, refuse to
accept it. Instead declare, “God loves Me!”
In Dr. Maureen’s teaching she shared that God’s love can also be like a flashlight.
Just like there is a light that can help you find scorpions in your house so you can
get rid of them, God’s love in your heart finds the hidden fears in your life so that
they can be driven out.
We don’t have to allow the poison of fear to steal our destiny. God has given us
His love. Knowing God’s love for you will result in victory and success in your
life.
Take some time to meditate on God’s love for you today.
Questions
1. What drives out fear and how does it drive it out?

56
DAY FOUR Overcoming Fear
The good news is that it is possible to overcome fear because God has given us all
that we need to be an overcomer through Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJ) 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound
mind.
Here the Apostle Paul was writing to Timothy leaving him in charge of the church
at Ephesus. What is amazing is that the Apostle Paul was actually writing this
from a Roman prison where he was facing his own execution. If anyone knows
that we have the ability to overcome fear, it’s the Apostle Paul.
This scripture clearly says that a spirit of fear does not come from God. It was
never His intention or will for us to have fear in our lives. Instead, God has given
us power, love, and a sound mind.
Power – is dynamis which means mighty work, strength, and miracle.
Love – is agape which means charity, affection, good will, and brotherly love.
Sound mind- is sophronismos which means admonishing or calling to soundness
of mind, to moderation and self-control.
57
These things help us to overcome fear in our lives. We have the strength and
miracle power from God to overcome fear. Faith works by love and God has given
us His love. We have a sound mind, the mind of Christ, and we have the ability to
take every negative thought captive. Amen!
We don’t have to live in fear. We can go from fear to faith.
Ultimately, it becomes a matter of making a decision to believe God’s Word
instead of giving in to fear. God has given every person free will, meaning we all
have the ability to make our own decisions.
There is a promise that covers every single area and situation we are facing in our
lives. The problem comes when we don’t know there is a promise of God or when
we choose not to believe it.
When we choose to believe the Word of God we must give attention to it.
Whatever we give attention to is what will become large in our life. If we give
attention to fear it will increase in our mind and hearts. We have to make a
decision to keep our minds focused on what God says.
Therefore, overcoming fear involves renewing our mind and filling our hearts with
the Word of God. In Romans 12:2 it tells us not to conform to the patterns of this
world but be transformed by the renewing of our mind. Meditating on the Word of
God, listening to it regularly, speaking it out of our mouth and saturating ourselves
58
with God’s promises will strengthen our faith and allow it to become our FINAL
AUTHORITY.
We can also fast to help remove any doubt and unbelief which allows us to better
exercise the measure of faith that God has already given to us.
The Bible says in Luke 10:19 that God has given us authority over all the power of
the enemy and a spirit of fear comes from the enemy. Therefore, we can take
authority over any spirit of fear and command it to go in Jesus name!
If we see that fear is still present in us, we can ask the Holy Spirit to show us what
the root of it is so we can get rid of it. We may have unknowingly opened the door
through sin, or embraced negative words spoken over us. Or, the Holy Spirit can
show us if there is a generational curse of fear. We can then repent and ask for
forgiveness and it says in 1 John 1:9 that when we repent of our sins, He is faithful
and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We can see fear
nailed to the cross dead with Christ and all ungodly ties broken in the Name of
Jesus. Then we can receive the resurrection power of God and His peace to fill
that area in place of the fear.
God already set us up to be overcomers by giving us His power and His Word.
Our job is to believe it, speak it and exercise our authority. He gave us all that we
need to live an abundant life free from fear. Amen!
59
Psalm 91 is one of the most powerful all-encompassing passages of scripture about
God’s covering over us. Meditating on this scripture strengthens our faith of the
supernatural protection we have as Believers.
Psalms 91:1-16 (TPT) 1 When you sit enthroned under the shadow of Shaddai, you are hidden in the strength of
God Most High. 2 He will rescue you from every hidden trap from the enemy, and 3He
will protect you from false accusations and any deadly curse. 4 His massive arms are
wrapped around you, protecting you. You can run under His covering of majesty and
hide. His arms of faithfulness are a shield keeping you from harm. 5 You will never have
to worry about an attack of demonic forces at night nor have a fear of a spirit of darkness
coming against you. 6 Don’t fear a thing! Whether by night or by day, demonic danger
will not trouble you, nor will the powers of evil launched against you. For God will keep
you safe and secure; they won’t lay a hand on you! 7 Even in a time of disaster with
thousands and thousands being killed, you will remain unscathed and unharmed! 8 You
will be a spectator as the wicked perish in judgement, for they will be paid back for what
they have done. 9 When we live our lives in the shadow of the God Most High, our secret
Hiding Place, we will always be shielded from harm! 10 How then could evil prevail
against us, or disease infect us? 11 God sends angels with special orders to protect you
wherever you go, defending you from all harm. 12 If you walk into a trap, they’ll be there
for you and keep you from stumbling! 13 You’ll even walk unharmed among the fiercest
powers of darkness, trampling everyone of them beneath your feet! 14 For here is what the
Lord has spoken to me: “Because you have delighted in Me as My great Lover, I will
greatly protect you. I will set you in a high place, safe and secure before My face. 15 I
will answer your cry for help every time you pray, and you will find and feel My presence
even in your time of pressure and trouble. I will be your glorious Hero and give you a
feast! 16 You will be satisfied with a full life and with all that I do for you. For you will
enjoy the fullness of my salvation!”

No Fear Lesson 5
DAY ONE Author of Faith
One day a few years ago, my youngest son (now 29) called me and asked me to
pray with him. He just didn’t know what was wrong. He wanted to be dating but
couldn’t quite get out and do it. There was also a potential job he wanted to take
but he said he just kept dragging his feet for months and months, and he couldn’t
seem to move forward on it. He wanted it and the owner was waiting patiently for
him to come on board and take the necessary tests, but he just couldn’t seem to
move past a certain point. And there were other issues he was dealing with. I told
him, “I really have no idea what you are dealing with, but the Holy Spirit does!”
We began to pray together to see what God would show us.
God says in Jeremiah:
Jeremiah 33:3 (NIV) (NKJ) 33 Call to Me, and I will answer you and show you great and unsearchable things
you do not know. (NKJ says I will tell you great and unsearchable….)
62
As we called to God, He answered and He showed us! When I closed my eyes, I
saw my son as a three-year old in a hotel room crying hysterically. I remembered
that day when we packed everything up in our home, the movers came in and out
all day, and then we drove to the hotel next to the airport so we could fly out early
to move from Michigan to Minnesota. It was snowing all day and we parked
momentarily just down the hall from the room so my husband and I could take one
trip each loaded up with our luggage and then park the car. I told the boys stay
right here, we’ll be right back. We could see the room just down the hall from the
outside door. A couple moments later when we got back in the room, Stephen was
a mess. He was so scared! The events of the day had frightened him and when we
stepped out to go down the hall momentarily just put him over the edge to where
he was inconsolable.
When I saw that picture, everything made sense to me! It was a fear! Fear had
taken advantage of the opportunity and came on him at that moment. As a young
mom, I didn’t know what had happened. I just got him calmed down and
comforted him, but looking back on his life, I understand now what all the
struggles were. From that time on, he clung to me, laid outside the bathroom door
when I showered, he cried and cried at the door when I left him with his dad to go
get groceries or run errands. As he got older, he had to be pushed to do everything
in life! I remember the fear and resistance he displayed in junior high in getting
him connected to a basketball team. He ended up loving it! He resisted in getting
his license, getting his first job that his own big brother made available to him at
the same place. I had to force him to go and apply for the job. It was the same with
everything in his life. I had to threaten or force him to do things. That’s why
suddenly that word of knowledge God gave me, that scene he took me back to,
witnessed in my spirit and made so much since. Fear had influenced him so much
63
in every decision and it was again influencing him, tormenting him and keeping
him from stepping out in faith.
In this Part 3, Lesson 5 of Journey to the Promised Land, we continue on through
the book of Joshua and discover two prevailing giants who will try to keep us out
of that Promised Land, keep us from experiencing all the promises God gave us
through His Son’s death, burial and resurrection. They are fear and
discouragement. In this lesson, I intend, with the Holy Ghost, to reveal how to
identify and take out that giant of fear in your life and protect yourself from it!
Read on!
Dr. Maureen says, “The originator of fear is the devil!”
Hebrews 12:2 says that Jesus is the author of faith. Faith is trust in God, being sure
(confident) of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. It’s expecting
the best from God. (Hebrews 11:1) Fear is the opposite of faith. It’s letting go of
trust in God and His Word and being sure (confident) of what we dread, certain of
what we do not see. It’s dreading what we do not want to come to pass but being
certain it will, expecting it.
Job 3:25 (NIV) 25 What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me.
Poor Job! We can learn from him how dangerous it is to entertain thoughts of fear.
They can get planted in the heart and then they come to pass, what we fear can
come upon us.
64
The devil’s aim is to influence us so strongly with fear, that it keeps us from
experiencing the promises of God. He wants fear to cancel out the faith in God in
our hearts, to immobilize us and even sabotage our destinies, just as it was doing
with Stephen, my son. Dr. Maureen taught in this lesson that the devil uses
strategies he knows will work because he knows what tripped up our ancestors and
what’s in us, in our cellular memory. Way back in the Garden, he started working
on man, or should I say woman, through his strategies, to give in to fear. Here is
Eve answering the serpent’s questions in the garden:
Genesis 2:16-17 (NKJ) 16And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you
may freely eat; 17but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat,
for in the day that you eat of it, you shall surely die.”
I love that is says God commanded man. With the revelation of grace that’s
opening our eyes to the goodness and love God has for all mankind, we can see
when God commands, it’s because of His love in protecting us, not wanting us to
be harmed in any way. Wouldn’t you command your little child NOT to go out in
the busy street? You would not casually mention it. No! It’s a command of love
intended to protect him/her!

As mentioned in Day One, Dr. Maureen taught that the devil uses strategies since
he knows our past and what tripped up our ancestors. God says in
2 Corinthians 2:11b (NASB) 11b…we are not ignorant of Satan’s schemes.
We are not ignorant, but full of the wisdom of God, full of insight and discernment
through the Holy Spirit Who tells us great and unsearchable things we don’t know.
(Jer. 33:3) Listen to the Holy Spirit! Listen inside to what God is saying, to that
hunch, that peace, that stirring in the tummy area! That’s where you’ll know what
to do. It’s not listening with the head but its listening lower in the belly area. That
“gut” feeling people talk about is most likely the Holy Spirit’s leading. Here is an
age-old scheme of the devil.
Genesis 3:1 (NIV) 1 Now the serpent…said to the woman, “Did God really say…?
There it is! Clearly, a scheme of the devil is to ask questions that plant seeds of
doubt and fear into our hearts. BEWARE of his questions!
When anyone asks us a question, we immediately and automatically start to
formulate an answer in our minds usually based on the facts at hand in the natural.
Interesting to note that when Jesus was asked a question to trap Him, He would
answer with a question!
67
Do you see how this scheme can work if we are unaware as Eve was? He comes to
us in our every-day circumstances, in our faith projects that are near and dear to
our hearts, and he asks:
“Did God really say, ‘You’re supposed to start a business?”’
“Did God really say, ‘You’re healed by the stripes of Jesus – look, you’re sick!’”
“Did God really say, ‘He became poor so you could be rich? You’re poor!’”
Genesis 3:4 (AMP) Genesis 3:5 (MSG) 4But the serpent said to the woman, “You won’t die!” 5For God knows the moment you eat from the tree; you’ll see what’s really going
on. You’ll be just like God knowing everything ranging all the way from good and
evil.
The serpent directly contradicts what God commanded and then undermines
everything God told them. He gets them to let go of their faith in God by making it
look like God is holding out on something good for them. He paints a picture of
fear in their hearts that God is not good, but he withholds good things and He
withholds knowledge they need.
He wants us also to let go of the Word and look in the natural…look at the
circumstances, the sickness, the lack, the unknown. Eve got her eyes off the Word
God gave them and looked in the natural. She looked at the apple. It was so
pleasing to her eyes; she couldn’t take her eyes off of it! Another scheme!
BEWARE of where your eyes are!
68
Hebrews 12:1-2 (AMP & NIV) 1 Looking away from all that will distract… 2…run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus…
(the Word)
Genesis 3:6 (NIV) 6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to
the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also
gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
OMG! How does a person look at an apple and see that it is desirable for gaining
wisdom? What in the world?! Have you ever looked at an apple and saw that? I
would be eating apples breakfast, lunch and dinner if that were the case!! The devil
was talking to her and feeding her this line of nonsense and she believed it. His
schemes are the same today with us, but we are not unaware!
Eve needed to stay steady on the Word of God. Keep her eyes and heart fixed on
what God had said. He told them not to eat of that tree, period! That was His
command, His display of love, protection, and guidance for them. We need to stay
steady and fixed on the Word of God.
Now, look what follows:
Genesis 3:10 (NIV) 10 He (Adam) answered, “I heard You in the garden, and I was afraid because I
was naked; so I hid.
69
Fear hit them! So sad that the wonderful fellowship they had with God was
suddenly tainted by lies and fear, by shame, condemnation and guilt. None of these
are from God. God is love! There is no fear in love (1 John 4:18). They didn’t want
to fellowship with God anymore. Because they believed the lies about God’s
nature, they just wanted to hide from Him. Their trust in Him was broken through
the lies they believed. How many people do you know who think or have been
taught that God is an angry, wrathful God? They, too, just want to hide from Him.
And there’s another scheme: BEWARE of what you’re believing!

DAY THREE
Touch Ups
The safest, most freeing thing we can do is admit we have fear, and it’s the first
step in getting it out of our lives! We must examine ourselves. Ask the Holy Spirit
just as I did with my son. He promises to answer, but ask in faith, knowing His
greatest desire is for you to be free, living out the beautiful destiny He wired in
you, living the abundant life His Son’s blood purchased for you!
Dr. Maureen used a story in her teaching and I loved it! A man went to a doctor
who diagnosed him with a serious health issue. The doctor recommended a very
expensive and painful surgery to remedy the issue. The man in fear said, “Okay,
let’s make a deal. Instead of having the surgery, why don’t you work on the x-rays.
Touch them up just a little, and everything will be ok!”
Sometimes this is how we react to fear. We try to do “touch ups” in our own
strength. We go into denial. We get paralyzed, immobilized and we just ignore it
and avoid going in the direction we felt the fear. And sometimes, as was the case
with my son, we don’t even know what it is that is hindering us. Thank God for the
Holy Spirit! He’s for us!! He’s so ready for us to ask Him just as I did, “What’s
going on?”
In fear, as Dr. Maureen stated in her teaching, “It’s impossible to capture our
thoughts. There’s no peace, no joy. We can’t run from it because it is a torment and
can cause us mental trauma, depression and bad chemicals to be released into our
71
bodies.” And here is a statement she made that is thought provoking and an
inspiration to annihilate fear in our lives.
If you submit to fear, it will run your life.
That’s what had been happening to Stephen. He didn’t really know any better
because he had experienced fear all his life from the age of three. He didn’t know
what life was like without fear influencing him on every major decision! It was
running his life and keeping him from his destiny and finding his future wife. Is it
running your life? Or a portion of your life?
2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJ) 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, (Satan is fear) but of power and of love
and a sound mind.
We don’t have to submit to fear! We don’t have to have it in our lives at all!! God
didn’t give it to us! He gave us His Spirit, His power, His love and a sound mind.
So fear is a traitor and a trespasser! In Day Four, we will walk through a prayer to
get you or anyone you know free of fear.

DAY FOUR
Free of Fear
Following is Dr. Maureen’s Death, Burial and Resurrection steps to becoming free
of fear (or any sin or curse which the Holy Spirit reveals).
Death, Burial, Resurrection 1. BELIEF
a. Yes, I have this problem or curse.
2. REPENTENCE – CROSS
a. I receive the forgiveness of Christ. I ask God to forgive me. (1 John 1:9)
b I hate this sin or curse. I choose to turn from it. (Mark 1:15; Eph. 4:22-23)
c. I see it hung on the cross. (Num. 21:8-9; Col. 2:14)
3. DEATH
a. Holy Spirit, put it to death, circumcise my heart from it, and I command this
mountain be removed forever in the Name of Jesus.
(Col. 2:11; Rom. 8:13; Matt. 17:20)
b. Wash me in the blood of Jesus in every area where this sin has touched.
(1 John 1:7, 9)
4. BURIAL
a. I can’t change me or pay the price, but Jesus did. (Rom. 3:19-26)
b. I receive Jesus’ righteousness (His works) now. (2 Cor. 5:21)
c. I receive mercy and grace. (Rom. 5:17)
5. RESURRECTION
a. I give this situation to God. (Rom. 4:21-25)
b. I receive Jesus to fill the area with His Word or promise.
(Eph. 3:16-20; Rom. 15:13)
c. I see or picture the change according to the Word of God. (2 Cor. 4:18) d. I confess what God’s Word says about me or the situation.
(Josh.1:8; Ps. 19:14; Rom. 4:17-21)
74
This is similar to the prayer I walked through with Stephen. Step One BELIEF -
when I saw that picture of him at three years old and told him about the fear, he
admitted, he did have fear.
Step two – REPENTANCE - I repented for anywhere as a parent I set him up for
a fearful day mainly through lack of knowledge. (It says in Hosea 4:6 My People
are destroyed from a lack of knowledge. Ugh!) I was so busy preparing for the
move, I didn’t take notice of how this could affect him. The little guy was seeing
all his favorite stuff in his bedroom being taken away by strangers, his whole house
emptied out and then the blizzard and the strange hotel, and he probably thought
we had left for good when we went to get our luggage. Some kids could take it
with no problem but if there was something in our bloodline that would cause him
to be prone to that fear and anxiety, this would be the opportunity to pounce. Then
Steve repented where he had been influenced by fear all these years. He stated he
hated it and he renounced it.
Step Three – DEATH - we saw fear and every wrong decision made through its
influence, every action that he had not taken because of fear, all nailed to the cross
and the blood come and wash him free of every effect of that fear. We saw its
death in his life forever.
Step Four – BURIAL – We commanded that fear to leave! No more torment,
gone! It’s buried forever!
75
Step Five – RESURRECTION – Now we saw and confessed what God said about
Stephen: that his peace is great (Isaiah 54:13), that he IS strong and will carry out
great exploits, (Daniel 11:32b) that he is mighty in the land and blessed (Psalm
112:2).
After we prayed that prayer, this is what happened:
Revelation 12:10b-11a (NIV) 10 “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and
the authority of His Messiah.
Hallelujah! Now salvation – that promise of victory and peace could come to
Stephen!
For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day
and night, has been hurled down.
For the accuser – the fear – has been hurled down off Stephen’s life!!
11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their
testimony…
Steve and I overcame fear by the blood of the Lamb (we had repented and applied
the blood) and the word of our testimony!!! He cannot be accused of it anymore!!
God knew that was an accusation being used by the devil against Stephen because
it says, He accuses us BEFORE GOD day and night! Not anymore!! The blood
has a voice and it answered that accusation fully!! Glory to God!! NOW THAT
76
PART OF SALVATION – PEACE – HAD COME, (could get through) TO
STEPHEN! That giant was slain in his life!
Keep fear out of our life! Put on the full armor of God.
Ephesians 6:11 (AMP) Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God
supplies] that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies
and the deceits of the devil’s schemes.
Notice it’s God’s whole armor and He supplied it for us!
Ephesians 6:14- (NIV) 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the
breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and your feet fitted with the readiness that
comes from the gospel of peace. 16…take up the shield of faith, with which you can
extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and
the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
We need to acknowledge this armor of God every day, His belt of truth, His
righteousness, His Gospel of peace on our feet, His faith, His salvation on our
heads, and His Word as our sword!
So…I know you’re wondering, what happened to Stephen after the fear was
defeated in his life? Well, he didn’t get the job he was thinking about, but he has
been promoted twice at Grand Canyon University (GCU) and is now working as a
manager in student services. He met a beautiful Christian girl who is a song writer
and worshipper. They have been dating over a year now, and he is very serious
about her. Where he was so stuck and influenced by fear, He now has been able to
move forward in his destiny God has for him.
