    ~

last I We arrived the second of August, and

the whole trip was just an amazing example of Ood^s provision and

    S^f*

    thank

    you with all

    our

    hearts for

    your prayers

    for

    our

    trip,

    the preparation

    of

our papers, our support, and Sod s prepara

tion of a work for us here. Sod has answered a l l those prayers in

    v e r y s p e c i a l ways .

    Everything worked

    out

just perfectly with our visas and a l l the

    other

    papers

    we

    needed to have In

    order

    to leave as

    we

    had

    planned

on the thirtieth of July. We arrived a t the

    airport

    two hours before

the scheduled departure time to discover that

    a ll other

    TACA

    flights

    t ^ t

day had been cancelled as the planes

    were

    being held

    we were

    to catch

    were full,

    of

    course.

    If

    you

have y6r planned and prepared to go someplace for nearly two years

you will know exactly how we fel t . There was a

    oossibility

    that,we

might get out that night, though.

    TACA

was going to borrow a plane

    from COPA and

    see

If they couldn t sneak the ir f light on through

    *

    f

    This,

    of

    course,

    was

    going

    to

    take a l i t t l e

    extra

    time.

    u - ^ f

    hour set-back

    from

    the

scheduled departure time and they were s t i l l not certain they could

    actually

    do

    i t .

    In the

    meantime

    God

    did a very

    interesting

    thing.

    One

    of the young Costa Rlcan

    women

    fi^m the

    church

    we

    attended

    had

come to the airport to see us off.

    Now this

    may not

    seem

    especially

    surprising

    unti l

    you

    know we hardly

    knew each other.

    As

    the time

    passed sne of those

    who

had come to see us off had to leave, and

    by a combination

    of circumstances,

    Linda found

    herself

    alone with

this woman for nearly an hour. What God did in thla hour

    was

    amazing

    -.2

vom rx had been a Christian nearly three years,

out. r e i t like she and most of

    the

    other young

    adults

    weren t

    doing

    aything

    for

the Lord. What followed was a

    discussion of

    how each

    Christian

    has his

    own task

    and

    how he

    must seek God s

    wil l

    to find

out what that task i s . They talked of how a person can find God s

    will,

    prayer, and

    a l l

    the

    possibilities there really are

    for service*

    She

    became

    so

    excited

    and

    a t

    l a s t

    said

    that

    she

    knew God had

    sent

    her to

    the

    airpor t to

    ta lk with

    Linda.

    She

    d i d n t

    know what the

    Lord

    would have for her

    to

    do,

    but

    she

    did know

    she wanted

    to

    begin by

    telling the

    other

    young people

    in

the church about the things she

    had

    learned.

    Our

    plane finally did come

    and we sighed

    In

    relief

    and f o r

    Joy

    as we began our

    Journey

    to Chile.

    In

    Panama we

    were to catch

    a

    non-stop f l i g h t to Chile. We w i l l

always remember Panama. I t was

    there

    we learned

    they

    were going to

    charge us ^^1,500.00

    for

    our luggage

    and that, by

    the

    way,

    they

    had

    ove rbook^ our

    f l ight and

    the plane

    would

    not

    be

    taking

    on

    anyone in

    Panama. Now to

    get

    the ful l

    impact

    of

    this

    you

    must

    know

    that i t

    was

    three

    o

    clock

    in

    the

    morning,

    and no

    one

    had

    yet

    been

    to

    sleep.Well , we

    f i n a l l y

    decided t h a t

    t h e

tord had decided we needed a

    v a c a t i o n .

    We spent two days i n a

    beaut i ful

    hotel w ith a l l

    expenses

    paid i n the

    n i c e s t

    par t

    of Panama

    own

    problems. They

    couldn t find

    a

    space for us

    on

    any

of t he ir f li gh ts .

    They

    finally

put us on a Branlff fl ight to Lima, Peru af ter
