Personal Pronoun
• A personal pronoun refers to the one speaking (first person), the one spoken to (second person), or the one spoken about (third person).

Underline the personal pronouns in the following sentences; then, circle the antecedents and label the person above the pronoun.

Revise the paragraph by replacing the repeated nouns with the appropriate personal pronouns.
The boys and girls were excited about the boys’ and girls’ first day in junior high. The boys and girls got lost and wandered around the huge building. To find the boys’ and girls’ way to class, the boys and girls asked some ninth-graders to help the boys and girls.
Reflexive and Intensive Pronouns
• A reflexive pronoun refers to the subject and is necessary to the meaning of the sentence.
• An intensive pronoun emphasizes a noun or another pronoun and is unnecessary to the meaning of the sentence.
