IntroductionHave you ever felt like you're talking, but nobody is listening? Here's how to you fix that. We need to get rid of some common habits. Also called the Seven Sins of Speaking!And practice the music of your voice. As a sound/ speech expert I’d try to demonstrate some useful vocal exercises and shares tips on how to speak with empathy. The dream and vision for a resonant Pakistan and a more musical world of listening and understanding is in our hands.

Breathing & Stretching:1. Sit up straight with both feet flat on the floor. Put your hands on your lap.

2. Take a deep breath through your nose. Hold it for 3 seconds.

3. Release the air forcefully through your mouth, dropping your shoulders.

4. Open your mouth wide as if you are going to yawn.

5. Hold your mouth open for 3 seconds and close it.

6. Massage the corners of your jaw with your hands and allow the jaw to relax and open.

Weak form - schwaThis is a very common feature of spoken English which is often found in grammar words such as prepositions and articles and also in many words with more than one syllable. It is never stressed.

In the example sentence below the weak form schwa is shown by its phonemic symbol, which looks like an upside down 'e'.

Consonant to vowel linkingWhen one word ends with a consonant sound and the next word begins with a vowel sound there is a smooth link between the two. In these examples the link is shown in red joining the linked words. These examples also show where the weak form schwa would be pronounced.

Vowel to vowel linkingWhen one word ends with a vowel sound and the next word begins with a vowel, another sound, a /w/ or /j/ can be added depending on the particular sounds to make a smooth transition. In these examples the link is shown in red along with the phonemic symbol for the sound which is added to make the link smooth.
