Fanaticism, false excitement, false talking in tongues, and noisy exercises have bee considered gifts which God has placed in the church. Some have been deceived here. The fruits of all this have not been good. “Ye shall know them by their fruits.” Fanaticism and noise have been considered special evidence of faith. Some are not satisfied with a meeting unless they have a powerful happy time. They work for this and get up an excitement of feeling. But the influence of such meeting is not beneficial. When the happy flight of the feeling is gone they sink lower that before the meetings because their happiness did not come from the right source…

The most profitable meetings for spiritual advancement are those which are characterized with solemnity and deep searching of heart, each seeking to know himself earnestly and in deep humility seeking to learn of Christ.

As the churches rejected refused to receive the first angels message, they rejected the light from heaven and fell from favour of God. They trusted in their own strength and by opposing the first angels message placed themselves were they could not see the light of the second angels message. But the beloved of God who were oppressed and accepted the message “Babylon is fallen,” and the left the churches.

“God has given the messages of Revelation14 their place in the line of prophecy, and their work is not to cease till the close of this earth’s history. The first and second angel’s messages are still truth for this time, and are to run parallel with this which follows. The third angel proclaims his warning with a loud voice. ‘After these things,’ said John, ‘I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power, and the earth was lightened with his glory.’ In this illumination, the light of all the three messages is combined.”

Much of the History taken place in fulfilment of this prophecy will be repeated. In the thirtieth verse a power is spoken of that “shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall return and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant[Verses 31-36, quoted] {13 MR 394.1}

Study revelation in connection with Daniel, for history will be repeated… We with all our religious advantages ought to know far more today that we do now.

Babylon’s Fall not yet complete

-“She made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication” Rev 14:6-8

-How is this done? By forcing men to accept a spurious Sabbath. 8T 94 (1904) LDE 198.2

-Not yet however, can it be said that…”she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” She has not yet made all nations do this… LDE 198.3

-Not until this condition shall be reached, and the union of the church with the world shall be fully accomplished throughout Christendom, will the fall of Babylon be complete. The change is a progressive one, and the perfect fulfilment of Revelation 14:8 is future. –GC 389,390 (1911). {LDE 198.4}

Third angels message will not be comprehended

There is to be in the [Seventh Day Adventist] churches a wonderful manifestation of the power of God, but it will not move upon those who have not humbled themselves before the Lord, and opened the door of the heart by confession and repentance. In the manifestation of that power which lightens the earth with the glory of God, they will see only something which in their blindness they think dangerous, something which will arose their fears, and they will brace themselves to resist it. Because the Lord does not walk according to their ideas and expectations they will appose the work. “Why,” they say, “should we not know the Spirit of God, when we have been in the work so many years?”– LDE 209.3

The third angels message will not be comprehended, the light which will lighten the earth with its glory will be called a false light, by those who refuse to walk in its advancing glory– LDE 210.1

In a special sense Seventh Day Adventists have been set in the world as light bearers. To them has been entrusted the last warning for a perishing world. On them is shining a wonderful light from God. They have been given a work of the most solemn important – the proclamation of the first, second and third angels messages. There is no other work of great importance. They are to allow nothing else to absorb their Mind

• The influence of these messages has been deepening and widening, setting in motion the springs of action in thousands of hearts, bringing into existence institutions of learning, publishing houses, and health institutions; all these are the instrumentalities of God to co-operate in the grand work represented by the first, second, and third angels flying in the midst of heaven to warn the inhabitants of the world that Christ is coming again with power and great glory. The prophet says, "I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils." This is the same message that was given by the second angel. Babylon is fallen, "because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication." What is that wine?--Her false doctrines. She has given to the world a false Sabbath instead of the Sabbath of the fourth commandment, and has repeated the falsehood that Satan first told to Eve in Eden.--the natural immortality of the soul. Many kindred errors she has spread far and wide, "teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."
