Coimbatore Institute of Management and Technology (CIMAT) is located at the foothills of Western Ghats sprawling over a land area of about 10 acres, surrounded by green hillocks.

The campus has a picturesque and serene atmosphere with least disturbance and distraction; the students find the environment to be very conducive to pursue their studies. Facilities in the campus cater to the aspirations of the students, be it the pursuit of knowledge or the indulgence in extra-curricular activities.

Coimbatore Institute of Management and Technology (CIMAT) was established in 1996, by Kovai Kalaimagal Educational Trust.

The institute is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

It is also approved by Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) , New Delhi and is recognized by UGC under Section 2f & 12b of UGC Act.

CIMAT is aff i l iated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore and have been granted autonomy by the University Grants Commission.

Academic Director

With a 40+ years in Teaching, Research and Training experience, Dr. P. Natarajan leads CIMAT in its growth path. Dr. P. Natarajan has M.A. in Psychology, M.B.A. and Ph.D in Behavioral Sciences. With this combination he has brought a unique and special perspectives to his teaching and training programs.

As the Principal of NTC Staff college ,Dr. P. Natarajan has organised numerous national level management development programmes and catered to the HR development needs of the whole of NTC. He has served on the Board of Directors of NTC (TN &P) Ltd. He was the Honorary Vice President and Honorary Secretary of Coimbatore Management Association. He is a member of the Governing body of both the Coimbatore Management Association and Coimbatore Productivity Council. He was also a Director of the Coimbatore Stock Exchange. He is a member of the planning board of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.

His expertise and experience paved him to serve as Expert Member of AICTE, New Delhi, Bharathiar University and NAAC. He started his career as a faculty member in psychology at University of Madras and later at PSG college of Technology. He was instrumental for formation of M.B.A. Department in Anna University, Chennai. He has guided several doctoral Scholars in the field of Management.

Currently he heads CIMAT as Academic Director with a clear vision and mission.

Dr.K.A.Chinnaraju has a rich academic knowledge and teaching experience of more than 25 years. He has guided several doctoral and M.Phil Scholars in Management.

He is an Examiner and Chairperson of academic bodies of several Universities and Autonomous Colleges in India. He is the University Nominee to the College Committee of various colleges.

He is nominated as Academic Council member in various colleges and universities. He is nominated as Planning Board member in Periyar University, Planning Board member in Bharathiar University, Planning and Managing Board member in St.Peter’s University. He is nominated as Syndicate member of various universities and colleges. He is the recipient of Rashtria Ratan award by Global Economic Council, New Delhi.

He has served as a resource person for various institutes in higher education, especially in re-designing and restructuring of curriculum, besides developing innovative teaching/ learning methods in Management.

He is the secretary of Kovai Kalaimagal Educational Trust and actively involves himself in successful running of all the institutions under the trust viz., Coimbatore Institute of Management and Technology, Kovai Kalaimagal College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore Institute of Engineering and Technology, School of Architecture- Coimbatore Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Dr.K.Ramamurthi has more than 23 years of experience in Teaching besides 9 years of Industrial experience. His areas of specialization are Finance and Accounting, Investment Management and Research Methods.

He is the visiting faculty for various Institutes like, Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Institute of Cost and Works Accountant of India and Bharathiar University. He has contributed immensely for their growth and excellence. He has several publications in reputed Journals and also participated/ presented number of papers in National/International seminars, conferences, symposiums and workshops.

Dr. K. Ramamurthi is the Chairman for Board of Studies, Member Secretary & Academic Council, Coimbatore Institute of Management and Technology. He is also a Member of Coimbatore Management Association and Computer Society of India.

Presently he is serving as a syndicate member of Bharathiar University.

With over 35 years of experience in Research, Training, Teaching and Industry, Professor Loganathan started his career in South India Textile Research Association (SITRA) after which he joined National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD) Hyderabad and later at Yeswantro Chavan Academy of Development Administration at Pune.

For 10 years, he was involved in Research and also Training senior level Central and Maharashtra Government officers. Later he left government service and plunged into industry in the field of Human Resource Development. He worked at Kirloskar Brothers Limited Pune as HR Manager before taking up the responsibility as HR Head at Lakshmi Machine Works Limited (LMW), Coimbatore for a period of 10 years.

Subsequently he had moved over to the Middle East as Director HR in a leading hospitality chain and later as a CEO of a Korean Engineering and Construction major in Saudi Arabia. Upon his return back to India he had spent a year with Sri Balaji Society as Professor cum counsellor and Rector of Hostel.

Since September 2018 he is associated with Kovai Kalaimagal Educational Trust as Dean Planning and Development.

His areas of interests are HR Strategic Management, Research, Management training and competency Mapping. He had published several research papers and attended number of National and international workshops and seminars.

Coimbatore has a pleasant, salubrious climate due to its proximity to the thickly forested mountain ranges and the cool breeze blowing through the Palghat gap which makes the consistently hot temperatures pleasant.

The district has a delightful climate. In the area, the maximum temperature is recorded in the month of April, and the minimum temperature is recorded in the month of December. The average temperature of the district is 17.4 ~34.2 Centigrade.

Next to textiles, manufacture of motors and pumps for domestic and agricultural uses are taking place in small and large scale in and around Coimbatore city. It is also home for number of small and medium sized engineering industries catering to various businesses viz., automobiles/ heavy engineering.

Coimbatore has the India’s first defence incubation center named CODISSIA defence innovation and incubation center.

Exposure to corporate life plays a prominent role in shaping the career perspective of the students.

Keeping this in mind, CIMAT provides opportunities for the students to spend their summer vacation doing internship in leading corporates/ industries wherein they learn the nitty-gritties of various disciplines of management.

Our students are regularly doing their internship and are required to prepare a comprehensive project report which is presented to the larger audience consisting of Management students, academicians and subject experts.
