Antisocial behaviour; Operation ACLE - Fri 11th July to Sat 26th July

Staffing at weekends by PCSO’s and PC’s totalled over 300 hrs bet 4p and 2a

Results

• 39 Encounter/stop & Search forms completed with details forwarded to Nuisance Youths Coordinator for inclusion on database.

• 81 full beer containers seized.

• 21 plus, open beer containers seized and disposed of.

• 8.5 litres Alcopops seized.

• 1 x Arrest for Damage/Bail Offences and Public Order.

• All licensed premises in area visited by uniformed staff, advised and warned about sales to those under 18 yrs.

• Joint operation with Police and Trading Standards at Licensed premises in August involving “test purchasing”. No premises made sales to those under age.

• Incidents of disorder and alcohol seized significantly reduced during operation.

Antisocial Behaviour – Other workIn addition to Operation ACLE, 21 targeted patrols were conducted in the Polesworth area.

On 17 occasions no issues were noted.

3 x occasions youths moved on and names taken

1 x occasion, 4 older youths found drinking near community centre, they were told to tidy up and moved on.

Baddesley Ensor

6 x youths, moved on following complaints of playing football in road.

1 x adult male arrested at Boot Inn for possession of 12” bladed knife.

Other areas

No issues noted.

Other Agency Work –

ASB at Station Road recreation ground.

The Parish Council have:·   Moved a CCTV camera to Station Road Recreation Ground

·  Agreed to look at the location of the bench and the bin in the park if the behaviour continues

·   Placed serrated edges on the gated entrances to the park

The Borough Council’s diversionary activities team have:

·   Continued to visit the site on Wednesday or Thursday evenings to engage with any young people present

·  Worked with young people around Abbey Green Park to encourage them to decorate the pavilion at Abbey Green so it can be used during the winter for hangout sessions.

·  Encouraged young people to use the teen facility at Abbey Green Park.

• Organised a 3-month Saturday night disco for Polesworth teenagers called PULSE due to commence 18th October 19:00-22:00 at Polesworth Sports centre.

Underage consumption of alcohol.

North Warwickshire Borough Council’s Environmental Healthdepartment have:

·  Visited all premises in Polesworth reminding them of the law and their responsibilities.·  Set up test purchasing at local shops and pubs

Are:•Suggesting all licensed premises in Polesworth implement the under 21 scheme through pubwatch

•Responding to residents concerns regarding •specific premises who may be selling alcohol illegally

Tidying local area.

The Borough Council have;• Provided Polesworth Swifts with anti-climb paint and signs for their containers

• Can lend litter picking equipment to community groups for local clean ups if requested. Are:• Having discussions with the Youth Offending service to involve young offenders in painting the fences facing the recreation ground.

Other Work – Speeding

Following the last PACT priority meeting, Community Speed Watch operations have taken place at various locations within the North Forum. Potential issues relating to speeding have been identified in Appleby Hill, Austrey, as a result targeted speed patrols by trained SNT officers will take place at this location.

Good News

Polesworth Market

A successful joint operation was held with Warwickshire Trading Standards on 25th August 2008. In excess of £100,000 worth of counterfeit goods including DVD’s, CD’s and clothing were seized and offenders dealt with.

This is the third operation conducted at Polesworth Market this year, and has resulted in a total value of £600,000 of counterfeit goods being seized.

Operation Orleans

This is a force wide initiative to tackle ASB on the lead up to Halloween / Bonfire Night.

Will run between 1st October 2008 and 9th November 2008

Aims

• Reduce instances of and target offenders re nuisance, damage, violence and anti-social behaviour.• Reduce misuse of alcohol by young persons.• Prevent misuse of fireworks by young persons• Reduce fear of crime, especially amongst more vulnerable members of the community.• Increase public confidence in policing.
