OFWAT1 calculates that 3.3 billion litres (20%) of drinkable water is lost daily in England and Wales due to broken, damaged or corroded pipes within the water distribution network; costing the water companies between £1.5 - £3.6 million per day.
By eliminating the excavation requirements of traditional renewal methods, Radius Subterra's pipeline rehabilitation technologies allow new and existing water and wastewater pipes to be protected and repaired in areas with restricted access. GAS LEAKAGE Optimising Safety & Service
The replacement of damaged or corroded gas pipelines is required to improve safety and increase the reliability of services, but as a large majority of these pipes are located within congested urban areas, the extensive excavation and service disruption caused by traditional replacement techniques can be expensive and impractical.
Requiring only small entry and exit pits, and designed to maximise the existing pipe’s capacity, our pipeline rehabilitation technologies allow damaged gas pipes to be rapidly repaired within areas of restricted access. Implemented with minimal disruption to services and the surrounding area, our close fit polyethylene liners maintain system pressure requirements, maximise safety and extend pipe lifetime. MAINTAIN CAPACITY
In the instances where sliplining is a convenient solution but cannot be used as the capacity of a pipe cannot be reduced, our close-fit polyethylene liners can be matched to the pipe’s original diameter.
This retains the pipe’s capacity, maintaining its pressure requirement for delivery and allowing the rehabilitation of existing pipe networks.

Traditional replacement or sliplining solutions are often expensive or impractical, due to restricted site access or the disconnection of services for unacceptable periods.

The deterioration of ageing pipelines means that many are now experiencing pinhole corrosion, cracks and leaks.
Our close-fit polyethylene liners provide a tight barrier against the existing pipe structure. This enables us to rehabilitate the pipe, restoring its safe operation without the need for replacement and extensive excavation.

Our PE pipe liners and solvent free spray coatings have been developed for fast and simple installation in both new metallic pipes and existing water and gas networks to restore structural integrity,
maintain water quality, retain capacity, prevent corrosion, and protect against future deterioration.
PROTECTIONThe corrosion and degradation of ageing metallic pipes can impact on the quality of drinking water including discolouration, odour and sediment.
Our solvent-free SubcoteTM FLP spray lining resin technology can be applied and cured within two hours. Application of the resin within existing pipelines requires minimal excavation and because it does not block service outlets, it eliminates the need to reconnect customers, allowing for a same day return to service.
By forming a smooth consistent barrier within the pipe, preventing contamination, water quality is restored and pipe capacity is retained without the need for replacement.
DAMAGE & LEAKAGEOur Subline technologies have been specifically designed for the repair and rehabilitation of pressure pipeline systems where access is difficult and reinstatement of maximum flow capacity is required.
They are particularly suited for use in pipelines where failure is expected due to adjacent ground disturbance and pre-lining can ensure pipe integrity.
Corrosion resistant and able to retain the pipeline’s capacity, these polyethylene pipe liners can be used to both resolve damage and leakage, and restore the structural integrity of your pipelines to significantly increase their life expectancy.
Installation only requires small entry and exit pits, minimising disruption to the local area, public footpaths and traffic management, reducing the need for material disposal, and are ideal for use where a rapid return to service is required.
SUBLINE DR Diameter Reduced PE Liners
A fully structural lining for the renovation of weakened and damaged steel, ductile iron, cast iron, asbestos cement and other pipelines to restore structural integrity.
Thick walled and fully pressure rated, this concentric reduction pipe lining system is ideal for the renovation of structurally weakened water, wastewater and gas mains.
Our close-fit lining technology uses standard PE pipe that is butt-fusion welded into appropriate lengths, and pushed through roller sets to reduce its diameter concentrically by approximately 10%.
This reduced diameter liner pipe is stable without the application of tension and can be inserted into the host pipeline using conventional sliplining techniques. Once installed, the pipe is pressurised using cold water to revert it back towards its original diameter, retaining capacity and forming a close fit within the host pipe.

SUBLINE PF Site Folded PE Liners
Suitable for the renovation and protection of steel, ductile iron, cast iron, asbestos cement and other pipelines to prevent corrosion and seal cracks or leaks.
Our Subline PF thin-walled, close-fit polyethylene lining technologies offer an interactive, semi structural solution for the renovation of pipelines.
Thin-walled polyethylene pipe is welded on site into long lengths and pushed through a former that folds the liner pipe into a compact cross section. The folded pipe is then strapped with temporary bands and inserted into the host pipeline using standard sliplining techniques.
Once installed, the folded pipe is pressurised, allowing it to revert back to its original shape. This retains the pipe capacity and forms a continuous, pressure-tight close-fit lining within the host pipe.

SUBCOTETM FLP Protection & Rehabilitation
SubcoteTM FLP is an innovative solvent-free spray lining solution suitable for all cast and ductile iron pipes, cement mortar lined iron and steel pipes.
A fast-setting polyurethane resin with high adhesion properties, SubcoteTM FLP forms a resistant barrier layer for the protection and renovation of all metallic pipeline networks and is primarily used for the renovation of pipelines with drinking water quality issues.
Cured within 1 hour, the resin allows for a faster return to service and will not block customer service outlets, removing the need for reconnections.
Approved for drinking water pipelines, SubcoteTM FLP is applied using a centrifugal spray lining process and can be sprayed in thicknesses from 1mm up to 7mm in a single pass to new pipelines at the point of manufacture, or in-situ to existing mains that need rehabilitation.

Halzhausen 1500mm Trunk Main Subline PF Rehabilitation
Bulk water suppliers Zweckverband Landeswasserversorgung (LW) in Germany, were battling major leaks of up to 35 litres per second on one of their main trunk supply pipelines due to degradation of the rubber sealing gaskets in many of the joints.
Forming a strategically vital link between Geislingen to Langenau, the pipeline could only be taken out of service for a maximum of three days.
To avoid the excessive expense and massive disruption of relaying the pipeline, Radius Subterra re-engineered and extended its folded close fit PE liner system to renovate this large diameter water supply trunk main over a length of 2.3 kilometres, to restore and preserve its capacity.
As the pipeline fabric was structurally sound, the liner would provide a continuous interactive barrier and a minimum of 50 years lifespan for the rehabilitated main.
The careful preparation of the liner and its rapid insertion allowed service to be restored in less than two days, ensuring that the bulk supply reserves to the receiving communities did not fall below the critical level. The ongoing leakage losses have thus been eliminated, and with it, the requirement for repetitive leakage detection and the need for hazardous man-entry local repair.
