TRUST IN THE LORD

Proverbs 3:5

The True Meaning Of Trust

“A firm belief in the reliability of another.”

“A willingness to place oneself into the care of another based upon past experience of dependability.”

Qualities Of God Making Him Trustworthy

He cannot lie

Hebrews 6:18 -- so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.

Titus 1:2

“…in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago….”

Psalm 31:5

“Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have ransomed me, O Lord, God of truth.”

Lamentations 3:22-23

“The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”

Examples Of Weak Trust

Job 8:13-14 -- “So are the paths of all who forget God; And the hope of the godless will perish, Whose confidence is fragile, And whose trust a spider’s web.

Job 15:31

(The wicked man) “…Let him not trust in emptiness, deceiving himself; For emptiness will be his reward.”

Illustrations of Trust Psalm 3:3,5-6 -- But

You, O LORD, are a shield about me…. I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustains me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me round about.

Psalm 44:6-8

For I will not trust in my bow, Nor will my sword save me. But You have saved us from our adversaries, And You have put to shame those who hate us. In God we have boasted all day long, And we will give thanks to Your name forever.

Why Do I Need To Trust God?

My understanding is limited Isaiah 55:8-9 -- “For My

thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.

There Are Two Kinds Of Wisdom

James 3:13-17 – “Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart…This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic…But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.

We Have A Lack Of True Knowledge

Job 38:2-3 -- “Who is this that darkens counsel By words without knowledge? “Now gird up your loins like a man, And I will ask you, and you instruct Me!

A Promise Of Straight Paths

Only God knows all our ways

Psalm 139:2-3 – “You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.”

Hebrews 12:12-13

Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed.

Psalm 25:4-5 Make me know

Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day.
