Provider Development Innovation Fund............ is about the use of £600,000 of funding :

To provide financial support to innovative, collaborative projects that will deliver direct service efficiencies to local authorities and providers and improve outcomes for people aligned to service personalisation

Projects seeking funding solely to develop and deliver training and development for providers are unlikely to be funded unless clear tangible cashable efficiencies savings to local authorities can be identified

Provider Development Innovation Fund............ broad objectives:• Influencing & shaping the market to meet the diverse range of needs and

abilities

• Enabling development of collaborative ways of improving service quality, reduce costs and transfer efficiencies to their customers and workforce

• Innovative collaborative projects which focus on keys areas of prevention, personalisation, dignity and safeguarding

• Delivering efficiencies and improved outcomes for people

• Stimulating new ways of working and cultural change for service providers, including Council providers of adult social care

• Enabling better understanding of the added value through collaborative working, key provider strengths and better service user knowledge and linkage/signposting between provider networks

• Evaluating the approach to provider development

• Sharing the learning gained

Provider Development Innovation Fund............ Funding Criteria:

Support collaboration between providers and at least one local authority

involves at least two providers, who have signed the application

sponsored by at least one local authority, and the lead officer has signed the application

Generate financial efficiencies for local authorities, lead to more personalised and innovative practice and improved outcomes for people

Quantified estimate of financial efficiencies for local authority, with efficiencies for other partners separately identifiedClearly stated practice improvement and innovation AND quantified improved outcomes for a minimum number of people

Commitment to sharing the learning and full and willing participation in the evaluation process

Written confirmation of commitment and participation

Provider Development Innovation Fund............ Who Can Apply?:

sponsored by at least one local authority interested

in piloting new and innovative approaches to

improve adult social care in the North East

Proposals are invited from multi-agency partnerships or collaborations of local

authority providers and/or voluntary, private and third sector providers

Timetable• 12th November 2009 –

Innovation Fund launched

• 15th January 2010 (noon) – deadline for the electronic submission of project proposals

• 26th January 2010 – approval of projects by Project Sponsor and notification of successful/unsuccessful projects

The Evaluation Panel’s decision on the projects to be funded is final

Independent Evaluation of Projects

• Stage 1 – Project Initiation, evaluation of selection and development process and detailed evaluation design (Nov 09- Jan 10)

• Stage 2 – Initiation of service innovation evaluations - Data Collection and ongoing formative analysis (Feb 10 – May 10)

• Stage 3 – Programme level Cross-Pilot Workshops (Jul 10 – Oct 10)

• Stage 4 – Gap Analysis, Presentation(s) and Final Reporting (Nov 10 – Feb 11)
