7. Introduction of Overage Academies
Immediate (1-2 year) results can be achieved for Australian Cricket by introducing a structured high performance plan for an elite group of up to 20 of the leading cricketers in NSW/ACT(both metropolitan and regional) that have been identified to have the potential to play first class cricket within Australia but for whom spots are not currently available in NSW. Identified players will be provided with a tailored development program and complete training sessions under the guidance of high level coaches. They will also undertake group sessions to enhance their game understanding from their current level and expose them to game sense at the first class level.
8. Additional Pathway Benefits
The revised talent pathway also provides a clearer development framework for coaches, umpires
and administrators. This will be achieved in a number of ways:
x Identified coaches will have the opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge and
understanding through an increase in the number of squad and match coaching
opportunities.
x Additional educational and development opportunities will be provided through embedding
coaches into State Second XI and Futures League matches as well as attending nominated
training sessions in both the male and female senior programs.
x Umpire talent identification opportunities will arise through exposure to higher levels of
cricket and an identified development pathway in matches through the State Challenges.
x With an increase in the number of elite programs, a number of opportunities will be created
allowing high potential administrators to gain experience.
