April 2015

Cheque presentation to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance

On Wednesday 1st April the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro Bill Withers presented a cheque for

£4,000 to the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. The presentation took place at Thruxton Airfield

where the helicopters are based.

Alex Lochrane (CEO of Hants & IoW Air Ambulance) and Bill Withers (Assistant Provincial Grand Master)

After the presentation Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance CEO, Alex Lochrane commented: “The Freemasons are one of our most loyal supporters and they have donated many thousands of pounds to HIOWAA since the charity became operational in July 2007. We are very grateful to them for their ongoing support and for playing such a significant role in helping to keep the Air Ambulance flying”

W.Bro Bill Withers also commented:

“We are delighted to be able to show our support for Hampshire Air Ambulance once again. Charitable giving is central to Freemasonry, and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Freemasons are especially happy to support organisations that help to save lives and provide support to people in emergency situations. The Freemasons’ Grand Charity works on behalf of all Freemasons in England and Wales, donating millions of pounds to worthy causes every year.”

The Provincial Choir of Hampshire and Isle of Wight

Brethren we need you

The choir was honoured to sing at the Special General Meeting on Friday 6th February and again on the 13th March for the consecration of the newly formed Brevity Lodge at the Novotel, Southampton.

We would like to build on our successful and friendly choir and are looking for more Brethren to join the choir, under the leadership of our Conductor WBro John Stringer. John is looking for First and Second Tenors and First and Second Basses, but if you are not sure which part you can sing John will guide you. You do not need to read music just follow a tune and you will not be made to sing on your own, unless you can sing like “Pravarotti”! The rehearsals are at Winchester Masonic Centre on a Saturday morning 10.30 am until 12.00 midday. The next rehearsals are on the Saturday 6th, 13th,20th and 27th of June (not everyone can attend them all) our next event is Wednesday 1 st July at the Provincial AGM Southampton Guildhall. On Sunday 11th October we will be singing in Winchester Cathedral and again on Friday 6th November at the Consecration of the new Motor Sports lodge If you feel you can help or would just like to try it out please contact me at [email protected] or give me a ring on 01962 828640. We are also looking for Brethren who can play the organ to accompany us to help with the rehearsals and events. You will receive a great welcome from the other members and the other benefit is that you get good seats at our events!
