CPI Industry NewsProvision Living at Hermitage Awarded With Distinguished Provider RecognitionDementia Care Specialists (DCS) has recognized Provision Living at Hermitage in Nashville, TN as the first facility in Tennessee to achieve the status of Distinguished Provider—the highest credential in dementia care.

The award was presented at a special recognition ceremony on October 16. Wellness Director Tabitha deVogel, Community Outreach Director Ellen Sheppard, and other members of the facility’s leadership team and the community were also lauded for their exemplary dedication. Phil Ponder presented a special certificate on behalf of Congressman Jim Cooper.

The Distinguished Provider program honors facilities’ commitment to the Dementia Capable Care training philosophy and abilities-based approach, which improves function, safety, and quality of life for persons with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD).

"When people look for a long-term care facility, they want to select a place that they trust will offer the best and most attentive care for themselves or their loved ones. That trust is exactly what the Distinguished Provider status communicates. It is a seal of approval from industry leaders," said Kim Warchol, OTR/L, Dementia Care Specialists president and founder.

With over 5 million Americans living with ADRD, and many more projected to develop the disease over the coming years, the level of care provided by Distinguished Providers serves as a model by which to elevate the standard of dementia care.

DCS recognizes therapists and care partners as well as facilities that demonstrate the passion, skills, and heart to deliver quality dementia care. Both facilities and individual practitioners are encouraged to apply to the Distinguished Provider program.

This includes compliance with training standards and implementation of CPI’s Dementia Capable Care training and principles. The level of training achieved within the DISTINGUISHED PROVIDER recognition helps to facilitate positive outcomes such as:

• 1) Promoting the highest possible level of function for those at all stages of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD).

• 2) Maximizing and maintaining health and safety for those at all stages of ADRD.

• 3) Maximizing and maintaining quality of life and dignity.

To receive this special recognition, the facility must meet certain application requirements and demonstrate ongoing, audited compliance to training standards. Distinguished Provider Dementia Care Specialists
