    September 1999

Life in Kenya has been busy Our winter, your

summer, is always a blur of activity with people

coming and going. In this newsletter, we want to

take the opportunity to share with you what wedo

here in Nairobi. We will begin by setting the

    scene for you.

    As I

    write

this let ter, we have 14 families

    and six

singles serving with CMF in Kenya. At all times,

we have families on furlough, preparing to leave for

furlough, or just retuming. We have new recruits

preparing to come and sadly dear friends, preparing

to leave the field permanently. It is a dynamic, ever-

    changing group.

I cannot describe a typical day in our role. Each day

    brings its ownneeds.Unexpected situations arrive

daily. The day we describe for you is not

uncommon, yet some days are quieter, and if

possible, some days are even busier.

busy, not quite two-year-olds ~ and the stream of

visitors and friends whom we enjoy catching up with.

    Fourth of July

While living in a foreign country, we have learned

to appreciate all the more the holidays and events

that celebrate our great country. We celebrated in

traditional style with good friends, hot dogs,

hamburgers, and a family game of baseball. It was

    COLD,

and we wore ou r sweatshirts. But

    in

contrast, we celebrate Christmas in the HOT days of

    summer

    Rejoice

We continue to praise the Lord for the opportune

we have to be in Kenya. We have learned so muct.

about ourselves and this country. This process has

been faith testing and faith stretching. We are

    thankful

    that

He is not f in ished wi th

    us and

    that He

will continue to teach us and grow us.

    Please

    Pray

We will go to court on October 4 for Paul s

adoption hearing. Paul has been ours for one year

as of October 1. It is a good time to complete the

    legal paperwork.

    Please

continue to pray for the Stateside aspect

    of

    these adoptions

    as

well. We think we have made

some progress, yet the process continues to be

    frustrating and extremely slow.

Adam is starting at Rosslyn Academy in late

August. It is the same school that Danielle attends.

It is an excellent school, and we are very happy to

    have them there.

    Please

    pray

    fo r their adjustment

    as

    they

    return

    to school.

    Please

    pray

    especially

    he has

    five

    years,

    and

    this

    is a major

    Please continue

    to pray

    for heal th
