SCUSD will be giving the test to all sophomores. However, this is really for juniors. This is the test that decides National Merit Scholars. Juniors are strongly urged to take the test, not only to possibly qualify for National Merit Scholar but also prepare for the SAT. The cost of the test is $15. However, if you are a PACE Patron the cost is only $10. Sign up in room C301. Speaking of PSAT, Kaplan is offering free PSAT Prep Live. Kaplan’s expert faculty will cover the most important PSAT content and tackle practice problems in 8 livestreaming, one-hour lessons all free. Visit www.kaptest.com/PSATPrepLive for more information. Class of 2018 Class of 2018 is hosting a fundraiser with Reuseit for junior prom. Reuseit takes used/old clothing and gives it to those in need. For each pound of clothing that is donated, Reuseit will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Class of 2018. If you have any clothing that is not being used, please donate to the Class of 2018. The fundraiser begins Oct. 10 th and runs through Oct. 24 th . You can drop off the clothing in the front office. PACE Patron Card Attached is an order form for the PACE Patron Card. Many of you became Patrons during the Big Day of Giving and your student will receive a temporary card soon until permanent cards can be made. This is a great way to support PACE. It is only $2 a week. See attached letter from PACE Parent Committee Chairperson. Crocker/Riverside Elementary School Fall Carnival needs students to assist with setup, working the game booths, activities, beverage bar, sno cone machine, popcorn machine, Sweete Shoppe, prize center, and take down. Chinese Community Church – is looking for volunteers for its Fall Fellowship and Food Festival. The

volunteer dates are Oct. 8, Oct 13, Oct. 15 and Oct. 16. Different jobs are available. Check the bulletin board for specific days, times, locations, and jobs. Email [email protected] to sign up.

Parent Volunteers Needed PACE has

committed to manning a concession stand at the

new Golden 1 Arena this year. PACE will

receive a percentage of the profits the

stand earns that night. Volunteers must arrive 2

hours prior to the event. Uniforms (shirts and pants) will be provided for each event. Volunteers can email Lily Dong at

[email protected] to sign up or if you have questions you can reach her at (916) 806-6273 by text or call. The events and dates are as follows:

E-Waste Collection JFK PACE will partner with Sacramento Regional Conservation Corps to recycle all collected e-waste. All hard drives will be completely shredded. This collection will take place November 19 from 9am-1pm in the JFK parking lot. Volunteers are needed to help as well. Contact Margie Ng at [email protected] for questions or to

sign up to volunteer. More specific information as to what can be collected and what can’t as the date of the collection draws near.

The Filipino Family Festival features great food, raffle,

entertainment, vendors, and fun.

There will also be a special performance by Introvoys

to celebrate the launch of their new album.

Sacramento will host Future Hornet’s Day on Saturday, October 8th from 1-4pm. Future

Open House – University of California Santa

Cruz invites students and families to the campus for Saturday campus tours. Student-led campus tours will provide prospective students with a general introduction to

academic and campus activities. An admissions presentation covering freshman and transfer admissionw will be followed by a

brief student panel. Reservations must be made in advance online. The two Saturdays are October 29 and November 12. Make a
