Dear Parents,
How time flies! All's done for Term 4 and the holiday awaits us! We
celebrated Children's Day, introduced Kellock PSG to new P1 parents
and had a blast at the long-awaited SpaceVenture@Kellock 2013. Also,
we are all ready to roll out new sub-committees for 2014.
But before we wrap up 2013, the members of PSG Kellock and I would
like to express our sincere gratitude to our ex-Principal and Advisor, Mrs
Clara Lim-Tan.
Mrs Lim-Tan has given us tremendous encouragment and support. It is
because of her positive enforcements that the PSG was able to initiate
and maintain interesting and meaningful events and activities for our girls
and our families.
We thank Mrs Lim-Tan for her wonderful presence in PSG and
congratulate her on an excellant tenure at CHIJ Kellock. Best wishes,
Mrs Lim-Tan, and may God continue to inspire you and keep the IJ spirit
within you!
Look out for her farewell message to parents and parent volunteers in
this edition.
God bless.

A Little Surprise on Children’s Day
PSG Connect Newsletter 4th Quarter 2013
A very Happy Children’s Day to all our lovely Kellock girls!
As part of the Children’s Day celebration, PSG (Kellock) surprised every Kellock girl with a
little gift to bring home!
Our Primary 6 girls were given vibrantly coloured card/phone holders, while the Primary 1 to
5 girls had a cute little coin purse each.
Thank you too, to our dear PSG parent volunteers, especially mummy Judy, for coordinating
this meaningful surprise and for making Children’s Day for our Kellock girls extra special!

Primary 1 Orientation
P1 Orientation Day was held on the 8 of November for our new batch of Primary 1 girls.
Our talented and young tap and ballet dancers put up impressive performances to welcome
the new girls. Well done girls, we are very proud of you!
We look forward to welcoming our new batch of Primary 1 girls into our nice and warm
Kellock family in year 2014!

We ended the year with a big bang with our open-house cum funfair on a bright and beautiful
Saturday, 16 November 2013. No decent funfair is complete without lots of games, fun, food
and happy people. We were blessed with all of these, and much, much more!
The Crater Traders Shop / Garage Sale organised by PSG
(Kellock) Parent Volunteers was a huge success! Thank you
for your support, everyone!

Fly me to the moon, well, almost! If you had the opportunity to drop by the Space Room, it
was as close as you could get. We would like to express our most sincere thanks to Mr.
Akira Takahashi who constructed the Space Room for the funfair so that everyone could get
an opportunity to experience ‘walking in Space’. The Space Room and space ship were
amazing works of art. Knowing that everything was put together using paper egg holders (for
the floor), black trash bags (for the walls), a bar fridge, wheels, chairs, pails and drink cans
(for the space ship) upped our amazement by another notch!

A Farewell Note from Mrs Clara Lim-Tan
To my dear Kellock PSG EXCO n Kellock PSG,
Just wanted to take this opportunity to pen this message to personally express my thanks and
appreciation to each and everyone of you for your role in co-creating the Special K Experience with
me these past 6 years.
Each of you came forward with a generosity (I know how busy you all are) of spirit and goodwill to
offer your time, talents, energy, resources and ideas to create unique experiences for each and
everyone of our Kellock girls.
You went out of your way to be present at school events like Tea with P, help reassure first-time
parents with P1 daughters at orientation day, ingeniously convince and rope in new parent volunteers
to wear different hats (to the effect of even making being a 'juicy parent' at the fruit stall fun n cool!),
you took time off work to join psg meetings and rolled up your sleeves at school events and never
once, expected anything in return.
Having felt the Kellock PSG 'special touch', events like the Valentine's Day, Mothers' Day, Mid-
Autumn Festival, Career Day etc will never be the same again! The warmth n energy you injected
resulted in creating special and meaningful occasions and moments that facilitated bonding between
parents (and grandparents) and children.
Signature CHIJ (Kellock) events like Kellock Arts Jamboree (KAJA), The Little Blue Pinafore, Mount
Kellock Challenge I and II, K-Cruise, SPACEventure, ChildAid and the 6 editions of Children for
Children (CfC) took on a life of their own with the creative and wonderful contributions from the PSG.
In the process, we not only helped to expose our children to a truly holistic and multi-dimension
education, helped to inculcate values and life skills in them and even helped to raise money for the
school building (the pupils even got a dream playground in the process) and reach out to needy
children in Singapore and Japan.
Apart from being at the forefront, you were always helping in the background too - especially in
prayer, school learning journeys (including camps, NE show etc), character formation, leading support
to our girls during performances and games (make-up, hair tying etc), photography, videography or just
simply being there to support and cheer them in in the audience. The list goes on and it would not be
possible to capture everything here. But it is clear that Kellock has grown from strength to strength and
has achieved so much over the years - and all this would not have been possible without you.

PSG will see you again in 2014!
I have been truly blessed to have had the privilege of working alongside such an amazing team of parent
volunteers.
Thank you for your contributions, belief, trust, support and friendship all these years I have been
Principal at Kellock. I have learnt much from each of you and been inspired and energised to do my
best each day for the girls and the school.
Thank you for that unforgettable sendoff (as part of 'Project hush-hush') and the most memorable
farewell dinner you organised for me. I was (and still am) truly moved beyond words. All these truly
mean a lot to me and I am really encouraged.
Tomorrow marks a new chapter for Kellock (and me) and I hope you will continue to extend the strong
support to the new Principal Ms Magdalene Chin, just as you had extended to me - especially as
Kellock's marks its 50th anniversary next year. I will always fondly remember Kellock and will continue
to do my best for our future generation at my next posting at Yu Neng Pri School.
On this note, let me wish you and your loved ones an especially bright, happy and fulfilling 2014 ahead.
And to our PSG members celebrating Christmas - my warmest wishes for a blessed yuletide season.
It has been truly a joy and privilege knowing and working with you (*lump in throat).
Thank you for the opportunity. Thank you for making a difference in Kellock! Keep in touch!
God bless.
All best
Clara Lim-Tan
