Using industry-grade training facilities, the Training Plus Internship (TPI) program will provide students with a 15-day Customer Service Training for both ground and inflight services and a valuable internship opportunity with MacroAsia where they will be deployed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). Furthermore, attendees of the program will be given equivalent on-the-job training (OJT) hours in fulfillment of the practicum requirements for their course. Ambassador Rolando A. Guevara y Alvarado of the Republic of Panama visited PTC last August 24, 2017 to meet with Ambassador Carlos C. Salinas, PTC CEO Gerardo A. Borromeo and Ms. Carla S. Limcaoco, Honorary Consul General of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Philippines. Ambassador Guevara was accompanied by Maritime Qualifications Evaluator Maria Jesusa Oliveros during his visit. PHILCAMSAT Conducts Customized Development Program for Seatrade The Philippine Center for Advanced Maritime Simulation and Training, Inc. (PHILCAMSAT) conducted the Management Leadership Development Program for Support Level (MLDP-SL) for the crew members of Seatrade last August 15 to 18, 2017. The four-day company-specific course was designed to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and understanding of leadership and teamwork at the support level. The course covers the application of leadership and teamwork skills focusing on the ability to apply task and workload management, effective resource management and decision-making techniques. The program takes into consideration Seatrade’s shared mental model in implementing the five phases of behavioral change such as building awareness, inspiring or motivating people, commitment, improving individual/team performance and ensuring continuity.

PTC Mil-Com Introduces Training Plus Internship Program

PTC Employees Attend Tax Update SeminarMembers of the PTC Group’s Accounting, Treasury, Corporate Finance and Human Resources Department participated in a Tax Update Seminar last August 23 at the Legaspi Room of First Maritime Place. The in-house tax appreciation talk was conducted by Atty. Willie Santiago, Tax Director of the DMD Company (Diaz, Murillo and Dalupan Certified Public Accountants) who tackled various topics including Value Added Tax, Expanded Withholding taxes, BIR checks and reviews report, and recent court rulings concerning taxes and examinations.

LifeLinks Successfully Transitions to ISO 9001:2015Lifelinks International Resources, Inc. is proud to announce its successful transition to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System standards following an audit conducted last August 10 to 11, 2017 by external auditors Kharen Tan-Conception and Ramoncito Puyat. The certification is valid for three years and covers LifeLinks’ Makati, Cebu and Iloilo offices. With the implementation of the new standards, the company’s quality management system will be driven not just by continual process improvement but with the timely assessment of business risks as well.

Discovering the Gift of MyselfContinuing from last month’s lecture series on the Human Condition, PTC’s Human Resources Department organized a two-part workshop on self-discovery called “Discovering the Gift of Myself” last August 10 & 17, 2017 at the Legaspi Room of First Maritime Place. The workshop was facilitated by Mrs. Isabelita T. Salinas who guided employees as they took a look back on the pivotal moments of their life and analyzed how these shaped the person that they are today. At the end of the workshop, Mrs. Salinas reminded participants to actualize their individual giftedness and to use this to better fulfill their different roles at home, at work and in society at large.

Team PTC Hailed as IMBA Bowling ChampsThe PTC Bowling Team bested 11 other teams to be crowned as the Team Champion for the 18th Inter-Manning Bowlers Association (IMBA) Tournament which ran from June 24 to August 26, 2017 at the Paeng Midtown Bowl in Robinsons Place Manila. Aside from the grand prize, the team was also awarded with the Highest Pinfalls with Handicap and Highest Pinfalls without Handicap while outstanding team members were also recognized with individual awards. For the Masters Competition Male Category, Capt. Manny Laurel was named as the Masters Champion while Capt. Ian Diwa was 3rd Runner Up. Meanwhile, Ms. Belle Tenorio clinched the Masters Champion for the female category with Ms. Edna Neptuno placing 1st Runner Up. Marnic Adriano was named as the Most Valuable Player. Other members of the team included Capt. Ronald Enrile, Capt. Stan Santiago, Roland Abuan, Rey Beler, Pinky Tuzon and Luisa Beltran.

ACM is Now 5S CertifiedACM Landholdings Inc. is now certified to be 5S compliant after successfully and consistently implementing the workplace organization method in their office following a training and audit facilitated by PTC’s Business Process Control and Compliance (BPCC) last July 13, 2017. Participating in the training were ACM’s senior officers and managers who then cascaded the principles of 5S to their respective teams. Their efforts have resulted to a safer, better organized and more efficient workplace which has helped improve productivity within the organization.

Across the PTC Group, BPCC and the Quality Assurance Team are continuously collaborating with employees in order to further improve the implementation of 5S across the various offices through the development of an online suggestion and feed backing system.

BPCC Holds Business Continuity Program Orientation

As part of continuing efforts to make Business Continuity (BC) an integral part of the organization’s Corporate Business Principle, PTC’s Business Process Control and Compliance (BPCC) held a Business Continuity Orientation last August 15 at the Legaspi Room of First Maritime Place. The orientation was facilitated by BPCC Director Nelson G. Cueno in preparation for the development of a BC plan for each business unit. In attendance were the appointed Incident Commanders from the various business units of PTC Inc., PTC Holdings, Constellation Travels, Health Metrics, LifeLinks, PTC Mil-Com, Northern Star Energy, ACM Homes, Lighthouse Ship Management and First Maritime Credit Corp. This effort is in partnership with Chief Technology Officer Rick Hawkins, Corporate Resources Director Victor Gelano and Information Communication Technology Director John Alabastro.

Cong. Manalo Elected as Chairperson of Overseas Workers Affairs Committee Cong. Jesulito A. Manalo of maritime party ANGKLA has recently been elected as the Chairperson of the Overseas Workers Affairs (OWA) Committee at the House of Representatives during a plenary session last August 16. The OWA Committee handles all matters directly and principally relating to policies and programs on the promotion and protection of the rights and welfare of overseas Filipino workers and their families. Following his election, Cong. Manalo held a preliminary meeting with Committee Secretary Christopher Lomibao and the rest of the OWA team.

PTC Health and Wellness Series: Weight Management To further promote a culture of health and wellness among the PTC Group, the company’s Human Resources Department organized a Weight Management Seminar for employees and global maritime professionals last July 27, 2017 at the Legaspi Room of First Maritime Place. The talk was given by Dietician Walter C. Fernandez, RN, from the Occupational Health & Health Promotion Services of Medicard Philippines and coincided with the national celebration of the 2017 Nutrition Month. Emphasizing the importance of proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle over fad diets in order to achieve and maintain one’s ideal weight, Mr. Fernandez taught attendees how to follow the “Pinggang Pinoy” or healthy food plate visual tool in order to consume the recommended amount of nutrients at each meal.
