Methodology • This research has been conducted in six waves: November 2008 (UK), May 09 (EPF),

December 09 (Sida), April 2010 (Sida), July 2010 (Sida) and March 2011 (Sida). • In slides that show multiple waves the first column is the first wave. • Fieldwork dates:

– 1st wave: 19 – 27 November 2008 – 2nd wave: 19-25 May 2009 – 3rd wave: 26 November – 5 December, 2009 – 4th wave: 11-26 April 2010 – 5th wave: June 24 – July 5 2010

– 6th wave: March 4 – 17, 2011 • Face to face interview method • The questionnaire was largely the same for all five waves

– The questions were added our taken out based on important current issues • Sample size:

– 1st wave: 2,480 – Including a freestanding post election survey in Adjara – 2nd wave: 1,836 – Including representative samples of Tbilisi and outside of Tbilisi – 3rd wave: 2,096 – Including an oversample of Tbilisi – 4th wave: 2,378 – Including an oversample of Tbilisi – 5th wave: 2,053 – Including an oversample of Tbilisi

– -6th wave: 2,893 – Including representative samples in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi and Rustavi

• Margin of error: +/- 3%

Georgian Employment at a Glance

The illustration to the right shows these groups as follows: 27%--Employed (full or part time) 31%--Unemployed and looking for work (This includes both unemployed and retired persons who are looking for work.) 5%--Unemployed and not looking for work (This includes unemployed and retired persons who are interested in a job, but who are not looking.) 36%--Non-active labour force (This includes students, homemakers, retired persons who are not interested in looking for a job, unemployed persons who are not interested in looking for a job, etc.).
