Entrance through College Road Gate Road, London, SE21. 6.00 to 7.00 pm., January 17, 2013. All welcome. This meeting has been organised at very short notice and we thank Rachel Jackson and Paul Highman of the London Borough of Southwark for accommodating it at the nearest available venue to Belair Park. Tree work can arouse strong feelings, because it is the trees that bestow the definitive character upon the Park. Coming work is considered necessary for reasons of public safety, but we felt that members of the local community should have the opportunity to meet with Southwark officers, and, should they wish, to put an alternative case for individual trees. This large old oak on the western (railway) side of the lake is another much-loved feature of the Park. Concerns about the danger of falling branches have raised the prospect of it being pollarded.
