STUDY
• A lot of accident occurs because of public transport's operational failure and there is involving the many lives of the passenger. It was stated in the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention that the number of death because accident is 126,438.
STATEMENT OF
PROBLEM
• The purpose of the study described the public bus's driver can impact the passenger safety when using this kind of public transport. The facilities set in the public bus also can influence the operation beside to give a comfort service to the passenger.
PURPOSE OF
STUDY
• to identify important factors determining the performance driver of public buses to assure the passenger safety in public transport
• to determine the facilities that can give high impact toward passenger safety
OBJECTIVE OF
STUDY
• What are the important factors determining the performance driver of public buses to assure the passenger safety in public transport based on the student’s perception?
• What are the facilities that can give high impact toward passenger safety when using the public from point of view of student?
RESEARCH
QUESTION
• to control the number of accident occur involving public transport especially public buses and suggest the suitable solution to overcome the problem.
• to increase the satisfactory of the public transport user at the same times to promote the public transportation as the choice of mobility.
SIGNIFICANT
OF STUDY
• The scope of this study is the safety of the passenger when using the public transport especially public bus. The respondent, who were between the ages of 18 to 26 years old, were selected from the Professional English 2 class. The questionnaires is examined the factor of that influence driver’s performance and the facilities that give high impact to passenger safety.
SCOPE OF
THE STUDY
• PUBLIC TRANSPORT=all multiple occupancy vehicle services designed to transport customers on local and regional routes.
• PUBLIC BUS DRIVER=bus drivers experience the same environmental traffic condition, concern for passengers’ comfort/safety and the need to adhere to timetables.
• FACILITIES=something design to serve a specific function affording a convenience or service.
DEFINITION OF
TERM
Increased sophisticated of transport network and services
Strategic imperatives to improve accessibility, quality and safety of the land
Develop creative solution that improveAccessibility and sustainability
Passenger Safety A bus must be a pleasing, safe way to travel
Efforts to improve bus safety in Japan mainly focus on crash safety measures for passenger in frontal collisions.
To measure quantitatively the effectiveness of passenger protection measures for a large bus by crash testing
- Professional drivers generally have higher levels of training and experience, and by virtue of their profession have attitudes, which are more likely to promote safe driving.
-Driving a bus has been documented and classified as a highly stressful employment due to high conflicting demand and lack of control over work pace and driving situations (Dorn, Stephen et al. 2010).
-Professional bus driver must have higher levels of personal energy, enjoying the company of large groups of people, and being willing to try new things than shuttle service bus drivers.
-Working hours have been largely responsible for problems in physical health, work performance, safety and accidents.
-Bus drivers must have knowledge and skill of handling and maneuvering the bus he/she drive, the bus route, all regulations, standard and driving procedure and scheduling systems.
Public transport systems must also support national safety and security initiatives, particularly in high-traffic areas as transport interchanges.
PERCEPTION
1) 30 different service attributes ranging from punctuality and reliability were considered important to passenger and caused dissatisfaction if not delivery to a satisfactory standard, with the public transport organization deeming it important to try their best to meet passenger reasonable needs at all times (Samson and Thompson, 2007).
2) Passenger considers important cleanliness and comfort are the public transport variables that users valued most.
3) To make the quality of services provided by public transport operator more attractive, safe, conducive and affordable to the general public, thereby reducing the number of individual private cars on the road and also to reduce traffic volumes, the present study seeks to determine passengers’ satisfaction with the services provided by the public bus transport operators
