The plan can address critical
linkages between parks, the
waterfront, and other open
spaces that are incomplete or
disjointed.
The plan can ensure that all
public space projects, large
and small, receive attention
that produces a high standard
of design and execution.
The plan will include an
implementation plan and cost
estimates reflecting local
priorities and availability of
programmed funds.

high number of intersections
ranking in the highest-risk
categories for pedestrian
collisions and injuries.
Lighting throughout the
neighborhood is inconsistent,
with many areas lacking basic
nighttime illumination.

Angel Alley and 1201 Tennessee PassageAngel Alley is a neighborhood-led effort green the
lower segment of Tennessee between Tubbs and 22nd
Street. Nearby, a publicly accessible midblock passage
will connect Tennessee Street to 3rd Street.
F Dogpatch Arts PlazaDogpatch Arts Plaza (DAP) will convert a dead-end
street into an 8,500 square foot arts-focused public
pedestrian plaza at 19th and Indiana Streets. DAP
celebrates Dogpatch’s artistic spirit and its industrial
heritage by creating a public outdoor art gallery for
large-scale installations and performances. DAP also
serves as the starting point of an emerging 19th Street
Green Corridor that connects Esprit Park to the future
Crane Cove Park at Pier 70.
G
22nd Street Green Connection ProjectThe 22nd Street Green Connection Streetscape project goes
from Illinois Street to Pennsylvania Avenue. The project will
create a green, inviting connection from Public realm and
roadway improvements include tree and understory planting,
new pedestrian lighting, replacement of sidewalk concrete
where needed and installation of turf block treatments,
corner sidewalk bulbouts, new painted crosswalks and bike
route markings (sharrows).
E
Crane Cove ParkCrane Cove Park is set to be one of the most celebrated
new parks in the City. It is uniquely located within
the Union Iron Works Historic District at Pier 70 and
adjacent to the Port’s large and active ship repair yard.
The project includes preservation of the historic ship
building slip-way and two historic cranes. Community
planning and design is funded from the 2008 and 2012
Neighborhood Parks Bond, which will also fund the
first phase of construction.
A
Tunnel Top ParkTunnel Top Park, serving both Potrero Hill and Dogpatch
is located on the corner of 25th Street and Pennsylvania
Ave. Tunnel Top Park is a volunteer driven community
greening project, focused on transforming a once vacant
lot into a vibrant green space.
Provide a public easement for a public stair that
would connect 22nd Street in the Dogpatch / Central
Waterfront neighborhoods with the Potrero Annex (Hope
SF) project and the Potrero Recreation Center park.
The area for the stair would include 5,900 square feet.
I
22nd Street Stair
Warm Water CoveThis Park is expected to be renovated and expanded as
a bay-side open space for gathering, walking, picnicking
and historic interpretation. Originally improved in the
1970’s, the park is in need of new plantings, site
furnishings, pathways and lighting. The park also is
expected to be expanded to connect with 25th Street to
close a gap in the Blue Greenway and San Francisco
Bay Trail network.
C
Pier 70 Parks and Open SpacesThe Pier 70 Preferred Master Plan (April 2010) calls
for new access to the waterfront for public enjoyment.
The Plan’s open space system ties in with existing
regional open space plans, including the Association of
Bay Area Governments’ Bay Trail, and the San Francisco
Bay Conservation Development Commission, Bay Water
Trail plan. These regional efforts are furthered by
the City’s Blue Greenway open space efforts. For the
purpose of clarity, the Plan refers to all of these
efforts as the Blue Greenway.

Several streets are important bicycle connections
through the neighborhood. Indiana, Minnesota btween

planned by MTA.

The Dogpatch-Northwest Potrero Hill Green Benefit
District is initiating a Jumpstart Program to begin
maintenance services at six open spaces in the
neighborhood. Minnesota Grove, Progress Park, IM
Scott Sidewalk Gardens, and Woods Yard Mini-Park
are all within the Public Realm Plan Area. A total
of eleven spaces, including Fallen Bridge park, The
Benches Garden, The Loop, are designated for service
in the GBD Management Plan.
J GBD Jumpstart Maintenance Projects
The Central Waterfront - Dogpatch is full of sites where
parks, open spaces, and mobility projects are planned
or already underway. Many of you have participated
in shaping the projects on this board. Other projects
on this board will have a separate community design
process and will not be directly shaped by the Public
Realm Plan we are talking about tonight.
