INTRODUCTION

This report summarizes staff publications in 1998. Publications for this year are listed in twocategories. "Reviewed publications" are reviewed by world authorities on the relevant topics andare published in recognized scientific journals. "Other publications" are available from the authors.Please consult the list of scientific staff included in this publication for the locations and mailingaddress of the authors.

Regional Headquarters for Sciences Branch is the Institute of Ocean Sciences in Sidney. Otherfacilities operated by the Branch include the Pacific Biological Station, the West VancouverLaboratory, and the Cultus Lake Laboratory. Staff are also located on the waterfront in Vancouverand Prince Rupert, at the Institute of Ocean Sciences in Sidney, the Regional DFO Headquartersand Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, the South Coast Division Office in Nanaimo, theYukon/Northern B.C.
