Coinciding with these actions, Agustín F. and his wife sent the school aletter in which they ask to postpone until the next academic year theapplication of 25% of Spanish. "We do not do it because of thepressures but because of a logical and organizational issue," clarifiesthe family.

Today the letter will be raised to the TSJC, although the family doubtsthat the measures can be paralyzed before Tuesday. Spokespeople from the pious schools confirmed to ABC that nextTuesday, the maximum day that the TSJC grants them to apply themeasure, the school of Mataró will teach the divided matter in twogroups: one for those who choose to receive it in Spanish and anotherfor those who choose to receive it in Catalan.

Agustín F., the father of the two children affected by the sentence, doesnot accept this solution, since, according to his complaint to ABC, heassumes that he "fails to comply" with the TSJC's decision, since "thematter is not the whole class in Spanish ».

"Ambiguous" statement

The father received the day before yesterday, like the rest of thefamilies of the school, an ambiguous note from the address in which hereported the final formula he had chosen to apply the law.

In the statement, the school management uses the word "unfold", butdoes not openly state that there will be the option of choosing thesubject in Catalan as well. "When we met with the director, the sameMonday, the center already shuffled this option, although the idea thatwas conveyed to me at the end is that the class would be taught inSpanish to all the students," says Agustín, who expresses his surpriseat the final decision of the school.

Catalan Civic Coexistence (CCC), which provides legal advice to thefamily, considers that the departure of the center to apply theprecautionary measures "violates the spirit and letter of the judicialdecision". Speakers of CCC affirm that "if it is confirmed that theschool unfolds the subject to be able to teach it in Catalan, we willundertake actions before the courts".

"Conflicting" application

The case of Mataró has raised controversy due to the pressure actionsthat have taken place since the decision of the TSJC was passed. Themost important, the demonstration at the doors of the school held lastWednesday. The concentrates, including several councilors of Mataróde CiU, ERC and ICV-EUiA, demanded the contempt of the sentence.

The decision of the pia Santa Anna de Mataró school to split theclassrooms so as not to give only a Spanish subject does notsatisfy the family or the Catalan Civic Coexistence (CCC).According to Agustín F, the demanding father, with this exit thecenter "fails to comply with the essence of the judicial decision".

In his opinion, in practice he will assume that his two children,who study 3d and 5c of Primary, "receive the subject in Spanishwith individual attention". "I do not think there are morestudents who opt for Spanish, so my children will be alone inthe Spanish group," he says. Agustín blames the Generalitat forthese situations of conflict for not seeking a "global solution" tothe demands of families who demand bilingual education.
